Tangible joy is a great way to put it. In the early 90s I had the privilege of recording demo versions of songs for my new band at Roger's home studio. We didn't have a lead guitarist yet so I ended up hacking my way through solos. I was feeling very intimidated with Roger in the room watching me but he did a great job of putting me at ease and seemed genuinely interested in what I was doing. Even though he didn't need to be in the studio with us he was clearly having a great time just hanging with us for the 4 or 5 days we were at his studio. Went out to lunch with us one day too just to talk shop about the business side of the music industry. He's a genuinely cool guy.

The attack and cut off of notes isn't talked about enough. Crazy on You is a great example of this. It's tempting to play it with a bit of a bluesy Zep feel, yet his attack is right on the beat and would be the segue to bands like Def Leppard. Same with Barracuda, it's a much tighter strumming pattern than expected.

Oh, man....thanks for this video because I have been banging my head on the wall figuring the part that every guitarist that isn't in heart struggles with. Roger Fisher is such a great and unique player.

Yet another example where the groove of the song is not avout exact notes, phrasing or picking pattern, but more about the attitude whilst playing it. Amazing!

I always like his guitar work. Like many others of that era , creativity , individuality and striving to be best led to their success. A lesson in that alone for young guitarists.
