Rafa was always my favorite tennis player. A news person asked him once, when did you know that you were something special? Rafa replied, I am not something special, I am a person just like you. What an amazing statement. And in a world where tennis players get mad, break their rackets, slap at balls and swear at people - you do not see that Rafa. He is the epitome of what every athlete should aspire to be both personally and professionally.

I had the privilege in Brazil to watch their carreers at ATP tournaments alongside Guga Kuerten at almost the same time. What an era….. What Federer and Nadal did for Tennis, the matches , the challenges, the examples In court, made every Tennis Fan and Sports fans In general so lucky to watch them for so many years! There are few athletes In History We can say that. Thank you both for being such an inspiration.

These two, always get me in my feels.

Two class acts. We were so blessed to watch these two on the pro tour, not just because of their spectacular tennis abilities but because what amazing human beings they are. Once in a lifetime!

The greatest rivalry in history of any sports. They taught us how you can be great rivals in the professional life and at the same time be very good friends in the personal life. There is a reason why fans of both love both the players.

I was a junior tennis player through the McEnroe/Borg/Connors/Lendl era. Never thought there would be another rivalry so incredibly captivating, but these two proved me wrong. Where the previous was pure grit and fight, the latter brought that plus a level of respect of one another that is rarely (if ever) seen in any sport today. True ambassadors of the game. Thank your Roger and Rafa for the entertainment and legacy you've brought to the tennis world. No doubt you will be remembered for all the reasons you've both stated.

Always always happy to see these two legendary historic tennis players in the history of the game. Goosebumps.

@@Jonathan-mp3ju thats a western media point of view. Tennis isnt just for the elites from USA, France and GB. On the other side of the iron curtain, Novak is seen as an Icon, a man of the people. Look at his longevity at n°1, that's an great example of comitment (sacrifice, nutrition, meditation...) t's just my side of the story. We probably both right.

True, but Rafa once said it was very gradual for the both of them. When Federer was still playing towards the end, you could see a real swift (I remember crying in 2017 AO as a Rafa fan but now i can see how they were getting truly close).

42 grand slams. Almost 11 years worth of slams alone. Not even considering Novaks 24 slams. The big 3 are the Greatest Tennis Players of all time. Legends.

These guys are models for this new generation who want to achieve big things with little or no effort, and neglecting the values of family and respect.

My friends and I arrived in a restaurant in Zürich, the staff were all very excited to tell us that Rafa and Roger had just left after a meal. Also stood next to him and his family on the airport terminal train. I left them alone but I was super excited!

In the early days of his career, Rafa could harly speak English, but now his English is excellent. When this era is finally over, these guys will be missed so much on the tour (Roger already is), Novak also.
