@@jimmyolsen5897 There are still stars, but in a sense it’s like going back in time, before TV, movies and radio, when “stars” were either local or traveling performers. They played to a much smaller audience, as today. The old “big 3” TV networks are not nearly as big these days. There’s a million options now, so none of today’s TV stars are as universally known as those of the last few generations, and perhaps none of them ever will be that well-known again. It was like that in the 19th century. The biggest stars appeared only on a physical stage, before a live audience, so they weren’t well known to everyone in the way, say, Lucy and Ricky were in the 1950s. So in a sense it’s like the world of celebrities is going back in time.

That was a great ad campaign. One of my favorites was with former hockey stars "Boom Boom" Geoffrion and Jacques Plante. It was entirely in French except for one line. Exasperated during their "Moins rassasiante! - Gout magnifique!" debate, Plante exclaims, "Do you BELIEVE this guy!?" 😂😂 Even the ending coda was in French. "Lite Bière de Miller. Tout ce que vous voudriez d'une bière. Et moins."

I LOVE RODNEY! Miss him SO much! This was awesome, yes, I remember it as a young teen, still at home. You can see the genius level inspiration for Caddyshack here! And, in my life, that was Mr. O'Donoghue at the resort where I ran service calls for GE many decades ago, and he inspired me as well. RIP and salute to a great generation!
