Isn't it weird the first player is even allowed to take the first player token? I feel most games don't let that happen, and most games dont also give you money with the first player token so its even weirder
I hope with the new republication of the game they fix the first player issue, which I agree with. It seemed to me getting the first player all the time was a distinct advantage. Great play through.
Best of Nikki P :) From growling to speed boats!
I love GameNight!
They do get much better.
Thanks for another great video. I played Rococo a couple of times before, and I really liked it. I was very surprised to see the start player not moving the entire game. In our plays, there was hard fighting for taking the queen. I am not surprised by Aaron's reaction given the circumstances. I too don't like the mechanism of the person to the left of whoever takes start player gets a free ride. Dave basically got several times first pick of the recruitment pool when Lincoln chained start player. I prefer games like Age of Steam, or Caylus, where player order isn't necessarily clockwise. But I think in Rococo it isn't so bad, as start player should be moving a lot, so it balances. I guess it depends on the groupthink, but I do think it can make a big difference.

I understand Aaron's frustration, but believe it could have been handled differently. By taking the first player card earlier in the game he would have changed things and the effects of that decision could have been more than he realized. It seems like a sense of futility lack of options crept into his mindset when this wasn't really the case. I hope he reconsiders his comment about never playing again.
Just in a expository manner, the right pronunciation has the accent on the final "O", so it's Rococó. Beside this, great job. We're always waiting for another video.
Getting ready for this year's version to be released by Eagle-Gryphon.
this is one of my favourite games. however it's interesting that it went down badly for Aaron. I've never played with as many as 4. it's a tough game that feels like businesses outdoing each other with the limited resources.
I watched this a few years ago and now its still surprising too see aaron so frustrated about this play. So passionately. Maybe he had a bad day 😀

I think he was frustrated with Dave talking over him, controlling everything, interrupting, correcting, etc. every 30 seconds more than he was frustrated with the play.
Just watched this a few years late ... I'm totally with Aron in that I don't like games where you have to use a valuable action to get first player, like this or Agricola or many others. It's especially though in a 2-player game where you don't gain as much advantage. In a 4-player game, the person to the right of the first player gets a big advantage by going from 4th to 1st.
Great game, I got the deluxe version from EGG :) While most of the GameNights are fun and kinda laidback, I felt some tension in this session. Were you guys tired or something? Anyway, great shows! This was an oldie...
Hey, Lincoln. Like the t-shirt. Are you a Super Furry Animals fan?

Spot on, Lincoln. I agree. SFA OK.
Dave needs to stop interrupting people during the discussion section. It's a bit rude and domineering.

TheBryantCabrera Or a different style of conversation. It was pretty common amongst my group in college. Sort of a stream of consciousness conversation approach where points were made or asked in response immediately to the speaker, who then would either respond and return to what they were saying, or finish what they were saying and tacking their response to the "interruption" at the end. You'd really hate the last style in my group because it usually meant there were two conversations taking place "simultaneously" and a lot of simultaneous talking. There was no intention behind it besides efficiency of conversation, so it wasn't rude or domineering.
How could they get the most unsophisticated guy with the least appreciation for the nuances and delicate subtleties of the world of couture.
