In the men’s competition, it’s James Long, an industrial designer from Queens, New York, against Alex Engman, an exercise physiologist from Coconut Grove, Florida, and Johnny Vineyard, a construction worker from Tustin California. In the women’s round, it’s Elise Johnson, a photographer from Long Beach, California vs. Ericca Alstead, a private investigator from Duluth, Minnesota.
Atlasphere: The contenders and Gladiators battle in spherical metal cages. The contenders must stand on scoring pods while the Gladiators try to stop them.
Assault: The contender must attempt to hit a target while a Gladiator shoots at them using a tennis ball cannon.
Hang Tough: The Gladiator and contender swing across hanging gymnastics rings, with the contender trying to make it to the opposite platform without the Gladiator forcing them off.
Powerball: Contenders try to score points by depositing balls into baskets and avoid being tackled by three Gladiators.
Joust: The Gladiator and contender face off for 30 seconds on elevated platforms. They must knock each other off with pugil sticks.
Swingshot: The contenders bounce with bungee cords to try and retrieve colored balls for points, while the Gladiators try to disrupt them.
The Eliminator: The Eliminator is an obstacle course spanning the arena, the winner of which advances to the next round of the competition

Welcome to the official channel of American Gladiators, home of patriotic spandex and giant cotton swabs.
Beginning in 1989 for 8 seasons, this competition swept America. Two men and two women compete against each other and a roster of "American Gladiators". Events included, The Assault, Joust, The Wall, Breakthrough and Conquer, Hang Tough, Powerball, and many others, all culminating in the final event, "The Eliminator", a difficult obstacle course race. Every season there is a tournament to determine its ""Grand Champion"". For two seasons, there was an "International" competition taped in England where the champions from 4-6 countries competed similarly.

That part with Nitro pretending to have a weapon in his hands still makes me laugh every time I watch this along with the rocket bouncing off of his head that probably got a few laughs at home when this show was on.

Blaze was soo much prettier and sexier and owns Lace easily!!!
I believe this episode was Zap's first run at Hang Tough, since she was out during season 2.

I loved watching Viper back in the day
Lace, Diamond, Storm, Laser, Tower and Viper were never seen pushing the medicine balls at the contenders in the gauntlet.

Lace was pretty
Can anyone spot exactly where Alex got hurt? Hard to tell. And the treadmill claims one of its few victims at the start of the course.

In season 5 they moved the trademill to the end of the eliminator. Image trying to get up the trademill at the end
i think i know why i never saw turbo on Powerball up until now haha. Turbo seems to dominate all the events by far the best male gladiator.
Jesus that powerball match 21:50 was incredibly entertaining and pure injuries galore. 90's television baby!
That treadmill for the men looks pretty intimidating, hell the treadmill for the women would be a challenge.
Everyone on "American Gladiators" called Ericca Alstead "You're In Good Hands With."
0:00 This would be the last appearance of Lace (Marisa Pare) before her injury, leaving Diamond (Erika Andersch) to take her place in her stead.

It's quite simple, if one falls on a reverse teadmill, that person be will taken backwards. In this case, it allowed Johnny to start almost on equal footing.

I would have thought a former marine would have nailed the Eliminator but that was one of the worst ran eliminators I can remember

Is it just me or did Elise get screwed in Assault? It looks like the Crossbow hits the target if you watch it in slow motion. Either that, or that new target was just a bad idea.

i actually hate all the changes in assault, the target is so hard to judge now when it was a no brainer before, and the weapons seem to fly weaker, not crazy about the new pt system but not the worst offender of the 3
i remember thinking Atlasphere looked so cool as a kid (i never actually saw it play out though, only in promos) but it is definitely the most boring of the Gladiator games lmao
Warning- The gladiators and contestants are highly trained athletes and have a lifetime of experience, but they are not invincible. Bodies have been broken, necks broken, concussions inflicted, and careers ended in an instant. Although it is entertainment, the hazards are real, and the contestants and gladiators take real risks, endure unimaginable pain, and put their bodies, their careers, and their lives on the line. Don't risk yours! Be Smart! Be Safe! PLEASE DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME, SCHOOL OR ANYWHERE ELSE!!!

It's a fact
I don't like that we hear less from the contenders in this season. I feel like I don't know them as much as season 2. No beginning talk with the quick introduction and interviews and no between game spotlight talks. I don't really care about them as much. Also seems like the crowd doesn't cheer as loud as last season.
