So I got the Spurcycle bell last year - really because of your video. Thank you! It's an excellent bell and according to my phone's decibel meter app, it is about 105+ db. Very loud and people can hear it several hundred feet away - as long as they can hear the bell's frequency response.

which one of these will still work in the rain? that's a pretty big problem for most bells!

The spring on the rockbros is out of shape and the striker is misaligned (something that happens to the spurcycle bell eventually), 10 seconds and a pair of pliers and you wont tell the difference.

Have the spurcycle from the kick-started project. It's a gem

Sup Jamie! Im really glad you did this comparison. I just recently bought the spurcycle bell on impulse. Then was wondering if there was a difference between that and the rockbros bell. Now I know. I also bought the key clip (which is also pricey but well made, solid feel). Thanks for sharing!!

I think it's good to do a video when your microphone's inside a car with its windows rolled up and doors closed. If they hear us with the Spurcycle, it can reduce the risk of dooring.

Awesome. This is like comparing a grand piano to an off brand piano made by a cheap mfg. Nice comparison and well done. If you are into quality sound go for the premium model.

Spurcycle is definitely sound much better and resonate much longer. Off course quality is much better solid built .

How do they sound in heavy rains?

I have the Spurcycle.I dont want to buy a copy ,because I respect the work and inovation of the original brand. Is 3 time expensiver but the sound last way longer and I am happy to own the original.

Get the rockbros bell in an unpainted colour and test again, you will be surprised.

That noise you played at the beginning souded like a black bird, probably why we pay no attention to it sounding like a bird in a tree.

6 minutes 30 secs before we heard the sound of the bell - to much waffle

I wish i could afford the spurcycle bell. It's bit pricey though

How do pedestrians respond to the sound? Do they move out of the way or just listen to the hypnotizing sound but block your path?

Rockbros, as I was not aware of the quality and sound difference

I just shift my gear lever a few times to signal, if they don't hear it I just say passing

I can tell that sustain of SpurCycle is 8x longer, especially much longer on above 80Db range! Cannot compare spoon with bell. It deserves being sold for 4x higher price.

I bought one and rang it for my doorman who said, “You need a louder bell.” Granted, it’s NYC. But I have ordered a Loud Bike horn to go with it.

Very good video bought two of the bells today. Not the China knock-off , no one thinks that one is worth the money.

Get a motorcycle grade horn that makes close to 100 decible noise everytime and be done with it!

Not the ultimate test at all. You have an unpainted bell vs a painted bell

Rockbros, you tighten the bell too much vs Spurcycle.

Your testing is incorrect. You have both bells differently attached. You have the first bell fastened over the rubber. Different tightening of the metal bundle. All of this affects the vybration that make up the sound.

On another video the Spurcycle only could generate 65db with a guy using a computer instead of a app on a phone, which makes me wonder how accurate the app is.

I don’t think it’s an accuracy issue. Distance is a major factor when measuring decibels. The phone is registering a high decibels because it’s being held right next to the bells.

Incidentally this means that decibel ratings are meaningless if the manufacturer doesn’t include a distance…

Awesome, so glad to see the US blow away the competition.

Because brass projects beautiful sounds, that spurcycle sings like a bird! The chime is melodic

Honestly, my 3 USD classic spinning style bell sounds way better. Not as loud but as it rings several times while the lever is being pushed as well as when it is being released, it sounds for longer and is more noticeable. And it won't fail after 3 months as that "cheap" Rockbross knockoff, in fact, it has been happily ringing for 10 years despite being all rusty...I would either go big with that US made bell or go cheap with my generic no name bell, but never in the middle with that Rockbross, it fells like overpaying for something that doesn't even give you bragging rights.

Why pay so much for a bell????

If they hear you, then it's safer. Think of drivers opening their doors, pedestrians with headphones, traffic noise in the rain, headwind for the cyclist you want to pass, etc.

Thoroughly unimpressed with the mounting straps with these bells. I bought the cheap rockbros via eBay for under US$6 via eBay. Spurcycle bell sounds better but why do they expect me to tighten a metal band over carbon fibre? Sure I can add some tape but it looks ugly.

Jamie Lim Will do 😁 I will ring this cheap bell until it dies and then support the real makers of this nice design and not the copy. The sound of the bell is great - I used the rockbros bell today for the first time and many pedestrians moved over. Compared to my old 'regular' bell this makes a noticeable difference. 👊

By the time you ding this thing, you've already run the kid over, great chime for calling the butler though.

Lmao, they're the same bell, made in the same factory by the same children but sold for 10-70€/$ depending on branding. You cannot tell me otherwise unless you have physical proof.

It's a bell, why do you people think you have to spend so much time talking? sheesh. Just ring the bells! I don't want it that load when I'm just trying to let people know I'm coming up on them. Load is not always better.

So work you ass off, create a product with unique design and do it with your own- insert - blood, sweat, and tears. Drain your saving account with r&d, prototypes, testing, and opportunity costs. Oh, spend time and months getting the kickstarter program together. It's your work, and you own it, .... then arrives a company that buys your product and copys it to exact specification and sell it for less. Why sure, they didn't do anything but copy it and yes, it should cost less. THEY DIDN'T DO ANYTHING TO EARN IT! I bought a Spurcycle yesterday, and this video only confirms my decision. Does Rockbros actully do anthing creative? Why not name yourself Copybros.?

No doubt Rockbros just out and out copied Spurcycle (they should have filed those patent papers - true story). Also, no doubt Spurcycle sounds noticeably better. However, Spurcycle is about $85AUD + $30AUD shipping. Rockbros is about $15AUD with free shipping. Personally speaking, the SpurCycle is NOT worth the extra ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS!

The Spurcycle is much better. But I'm glad the Chinese make knockoffs . As a European I will never buy american anymore. With Trump president and braking the world I will never give a cent to an american company. Degoogling, demicrosofting, etc. This is a great design and the Chinese knockoff is good enough. Thanks Rockbross for bringing this great design to people who don't want to finance america.
