Ted's right, "The Solo" is the sumit of a great Rock and Roll song. The seventies and eighties had so many great solos, I'm still learning them in 2020.

The first album I ever owned was The Stones 12x5 album. I was seven years old. I listened to it with my older brother. The opening track is Chuck Berry's "Around And Around". That changed my brother's life. He asked our father to get him a guitar (a bright red Hagstrom, it turned out to be), and he was on his way. He later, leading his own band, recorded an album for A&M records with The Next City Corporation; the same folks who launched Ted Nugent's career. It was around this time that I was singing with a band, and we happen to open for the Neal Smith Band one evening (yes, Alice Cooper's former drummer). Our opening number was (drum roll, please): 'Rock The Nation', from the first Ronnie Montrose album. Our bass player did later join The Ronnie Montrose group. My brother's bass player later appeared on Ted Nugent's 'Weekend Warriors' album. About a dozen or so years after that, my brother was on stage with his band, and Keith Richards showed up and got on stage with him.

Sammy Hagar your videos are absolutely fascinating. I saw Ted Nugent during the original KISS Farewell Tour in 2000. I guess I should put "original" in air quotes. But Ted Nugent opened up for KISS on that tour. Anyone remember that? Anyways, Sammy Hagar you continue to put out quality videos just like you continue to put out quality music. You sir are a legend and a fascinating man. I hope to meet you one day.

Sadly, the electric guitar as a lead instrument in rock music has been steadily fading for the last 25 years - now you see guitarists being relegated to a background orchestra player status - but that's not unlike what a young Jimi Hendrix was doing early in his career in Motown groups where vocalists were the center of attention - hopefully history repeats and another Jimi comes along to revive the guitar and put it back front & center on rock stages.

Yep another legendary Rocker backing Gene Simmons up on his comments about their is no Industry no structure etc. I think Gene was the first to say it but Stevie Nicks & Roger Daltrey have acknowledged it also . Growing up a Boomer RocknRoll fan , I totally agree . This not even a political liberal or conservative thing just a fact . As Stevie said “ Video killed the radio star . Well the Internet killed the every star . “. The other arts are following . Books are getting there but I think Covid could possibly take down Hollywood . Movies are next . All those in denial fools that dissed Simmons .

Unfortunately rock and roll the blues and the electric guitar generation...the music has all been done. There is nothing that already hasn’t been done. ( just repeating itself) Pioneer days or rock are gone! It’s now a newer generation of a totally different culture of music, with totally different genre of music. Just like it was transforming from the the big band 30s to blues of the 50s to rock of the 70s grunge of the 90s. To now where mainstream media have taken over it as a political voice. When the generations die off, so does their music.

Ya cant calm Ted down. Hes phulll tiiiime madman!!! All the rock today sounds unimaginative and the same. Its chruning guitar, 16th note kick drum and some dude screaming the majority of the some. Very little melodic edge or as Ted said “guitar build up”. Yes, there are a few,,, Corey Taylors melodic stuff with both bands (not the screamin trash). Of course Metallica is still at it. Godsmack, Avenged Sevenfold have some that has some melodic chop to it. Sevendust, Three doors Down, too. I know im missing several. There are some. But not as an industry as a whole. Im 50 and not an “old” music hater. I go to concerts and even festivals every year so I keep up. Seems the bigger names today (some i mentioned) find more success with the non-Screemo melodic stuff (im not suggesting slow dance stuff, but there is a purpose, melody to The song) and those are the ones hated by their mosh-pit followers. With the music industry the way it is Its hard for any of thses to gain much traction or airplay outside of the 3 channels on xm radio.
