I was 16 years old when Cheech & Chong up in smoke came out, I saw it in the theater with friends...It was the midnight theater, and back then and you could smoke in the theater...Me and my friends thought no one would ever know where pot smoke was coming from if we lite a joint, because the whole place was filled with smoke.. We were super smart back then.. So we sat in the middle of the theater and smoked a joint watching this movie, and got away with it...What can I say it was the 70's... A great time to be alive!!! True story...

Seen Sammy live in his prime in the late 80’s in Alaska! When I watch up up in smoke to this day, my stomach hurts! Especially the Van with the cramp part!Remember old ones? Young ones have no clue about this!

Funniest duo I've ever seen in a movie. My Dad took me to see Up in Smoke when it was in the theater in 1978 and neither of us new what it was about. My Dad laughed his butt off and I got an education in weed (I was 11). First thing he said when we left the theater was "son, leave that crap alone, it'll make you stupid". Lol. He was right BTW.

I had the privilege of seeing Cheech and Chong live in Memphis back in the late 70’s. I wondered how funny could these guys be with out all the prop’s from the movies ! To my amazement they were crazy funny ! I love these guys. I’ve been fortunate enough to meet Sammy a couple times too, he’s always been cool. Long live Montrose ! Thanks for the memories guy’s !

I remember being 17 and having 3 tapes in my car... one of them was "Big Bambu", heard it over and over and we'd still laugh!

I was in high school in an isolated logging town on northern Vancouver Island in 1969 and the dance committe hired a Vancouver band to come and play a dance at the community hall. I don't know who it was, the Painted Ship or Wicked Orange, somebody like that. In between sets, a couple long-haired guys I took to be the band's roadies sat down on chairs with microphones and started telling stories, mostly about getting stoned, one of them mentioning Sergeant Stedenko, a famous narc I had heard about. Most people ignored them, waiting for the band to start again, but I remembered them. It was only a year or two later when their first album came out that I realized I had seen Cheech and Chong when they were unknown.

All I know is when I see Sammy... I miss the hell out of Ed... They were really Great friends. They were THE best marriage I had ever seen as a band. Sounds great too always. God bless him..

The Cheech and Chong boys always have that humorous take on the songs they write. It's not a contest? But when Sammy picked up that guitar and started rockin'. And Cheech and Tommy were feeling it. That was magical.

I was lucky to see them both several times in '71 at a club in Hollywood. Still as funny today as they were then and I go to their concerts whenever I can. ❤❤

You just gotta know you’ve succeeded in life when you get to hang with Cheech & Chong!!!

3 of my lifetime legends! This was awesome to see you are all doing well. Stay safe I know you can't drive 55. I've acted out cheech and chong "Up in Smoke" dozens of times with high school friends. You could cut the smoke with a knife. Montrose was always being played at every party.

Those were the guys, right there, totally owned it, the airwaves, record and 8-Track sales. I was there, singing Rock Candy and Basketball Jones.

I once saw Cheech and Chong at the Grand Valley Field House 50 years ago and they were hilarious. Years later I got Mr. Chong to personally sign my "Big Bambu" LP and paper.

Would love to see them go on tour! Call it “Pot is legal tour ‘22”

I love all 3 of these guys ! I was listening to Montrose about the time "Up in Smoke" came out . Having listened to "Big Bamboo" , I was psyched to see that movie . I had a 64 Pontiac station wagon in a drive-in , with more than enough "stuff" , watching that movie & smoking . My car looked like theirs when the smoke was rolling out of the windows & they were cruising down the highway . LMFAO !!! The best part was I knew a lot of the material , but to see them actually DO IT was priceless . I saw Sammy with Van Halen in NY , nice summer day . They did it all . Pound cake , Eagles fly , sprayed down the crowd with water hoses to cool us off . They set a record for attendance there that show . Sammy's 3 Lock Box , is one of my all time album favorites !

June 9, 1979 The Texxas Jam in the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Tx. I saw Sammy rock out and Cheech & Chong was there performing comedy skits between band sets. What a wonderful fucking day!

Loved this. All my hero's .got to see cheech and Chong a few years ago in winnipeg .was a dream come true even though I didn't get to meet them.

I love Tommy's sense of humor it's exactly like mine, it's so understated that sometimes it goes over people's heads or they think you're dumb. "They're gonna get indoor toilets here eventually.." as they go past the portopotties on the construction site, I'm not sure Sammy even got it!

They played alot of College Campuses back in the 80's. Funniest Show I ever saw especially Ralph and Herbie! 😆

I was just a teenager when my brother and I went to the theater and bought our tickets for "Up In Smoke". A sign was there that said..."Don't come straight to see this movie"... Being that we had an hour before the movie started, we headed out of town aways and fired one up. And I certainly enjoyed the movie.

I saw Up In Smoke at a drive in double feature with Airplane. I was 10 and my parents didn't have a clue about Up In Smoke. I sat in the back of the car cracking up. After that, I listened to all my dad's Richard Pryor albums late at night. The cork was popped, and I would never be the same.
