ROCK POOLS of the San Gabriel River | HOW to Get to the Hidden Rock Pools of the East Fork

Welcome adventurers,
Join us on an exciting adventure down the East Fork of San Gabriel River, starting at the Bridge to Nowhere parking lot. Aqua Blue Rock Pools await you!!! This is a LA paradise hidden in a beautiful canyon of the Sheep Mountain wilderness.
In this video, we’ll guide you step-by-step on how to navigate the lesser-known path to these stunning rock pools. Starting from the parking area, we’ll head in the opposite direction of the usual trail, revealing secret spots to enjoy. This secluded route offers access to less know rock pools. This route has tranquility and discovery.
People put rocks across the river to make the pools, some are as deep as 4 feet. These are man made, yet the rocks are everywhere in the river keeping the water super clear.

    I used to go there back in the early 1990s but now I live in Northern California. Glad to see this place is still so beautiful besides the graffiti. There are so many places like this to enjoy in NorCal. If you ever come up this way you should check out the North fork American River. If you think the east fork is a clear running river then the North fork American River will blow your mind.

    Thank you for that tid bit as well! I'll have to map that spot out while I can still do it. I'm closest to Whitewater and Oak Creek Canyon, but haven't seen big bright pools like this around here. Kern river goes up quite a ways too. Sooo much to get out and see. California really does encompasses parts of every state in the U.S.

    Hi guys I’ve been loving your videos! We’re planning a trip to the US next year and undecided whether to go in April/May or September/October. Two things we want to do is explore the canyons and waterfalls you guys show in your videos and also catch an NBA game or two. What would you say the general water flow/level of the waterfalls and swimming holes is like around September/october? Would most places be running dry? And is April/May warm enough to swim around California? Keep the videos coming, by far my favourite showcasing the swimming spots 👍🏼

  • @hikebytes

    @hikebytes

    Ай бұрын

    Wow thank you ! 😀😀 Well April and May sometimes can have some rain or gloom but more green hillsides and wildflower beauty . Water is colder.and more abundant . We did have a very rainy season hence the large amounts of water flow. Sept and Oct. are warm typically so water will be warmer but less in some areas . Punch Bowls and The Rock pools at Bridge to Nowhere East fork of the San Gabriel river should be flowing pretty good! Both have deep water sources.

So it would be safe to say that September/October would be warmer and better temperatures for swimming, whereas April/May would be better for overall flowing water around California and Arizona? • @hikebytes

    @hikebytes

    You could absolutely swim in Springtime but sometimes water flow could be too heavy to swim and would be more of a cold plunge . It's warmer water and calmer in Sept Oct. some smaller water falls may dry up or be a trickle . What swimholes did you want to visit?

  • @jimmychampion69

(Video comes out today at 11:30 am, we show new spots to visit some are more crowded ) This time we took the Glendora Mountain Road to East Fork. It’s another route there. It weaves a little more through the mountains, but it’s very beautiful. That was a bummer,road was closed.. Sorry to hear that. We like to use the Waze app navigation to make sure the route is open. We got to the Punch Bowls in Santa Paula with this app when one of the roads there was closed. It’s a very helpful app.For giving alternate routes. There was a wild fire up at Mt Baldy last week that may have been why it was closed.

We have another rock pool video coming out Sunday at 11:30 am because we went again, both times were mellow crowds and had many private areas. This new vid covers the trash issue in popular areas, but shows people how to avoid crowds, to find less known spots. People watch, but not everyone goes. The river has miles of rock pools to explore, just pick a spot along the East Fork road and hike down (1/10 mile or less) and see if you like the spot, it’s that simple to find a less crowded area.
