Rocco's ECMO procedures, surgery and recovery
Doctors at the Midwest Fetal Care Center made the decision to put Rocco Rymer on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), an intensive care technique designed to relieve stress on the lungs and help control blood pressure.

My son was on ecmo when he was born. He was 10 pounds 24 inches long. I had a very hard time delivering him.After 4 days of labor & pushing for hours he still wasn’t ready to come out. He was stuck. He had swallowed his po & got in his lungs. Ecmo was something I had never heard of. But after a week with blood transfusions. He was better. He stayed in the hospital for a couple weeks more & finally got to come home. Without him being on ecmo he would have died. I was only 20 years old and new mom. This was the scariest thing I’ve ever experienced. 33 years later he’s an amazing man with 2kids of his own. His once’s big scar on his neck is very small. But a reminder how without this machine he wouldn’t be alive. ❤❤❤
And we pay ball players millions. This guy keeps your baby alive.
