Thank you, Quint, for this amazing video. Our family acquired its first Etch-a-Sketch at Christmas 1960, and we took it on vacation with us the following Summer. My siblings and I spent hours playing with it as my parents drove us hundreds of miles down the two-lane highways that still served most of the country back then. I had always dreamed of being able to control it with the precision you've demonstrated with your contraption. It is exhilarating to watch it in action.

Wow! All of that was so impressive, but the circle for it's simplicity yet well known complexity to make was the most impactful for me.

Hey look, buddy. I’m an engineer. That means I solve problems. Not problems like, “What is beauty?” because that would fall within the purviews of your conundrums of philosophy; I solve practical problems.

Quite bluntly, you are just straight out a terrific Dad. Hope all the kids around you can appreciate all you do. Top Marks sir. More people in the world like you would make it a better place to live.
I'm so glad we've got people like you and it's not just a bunch of me's and my friends running around on our own..
I love when your old video are recommended.. this is awesome.

That cat video part was like one of the cutest things ever!
THIS IS UNDERAPPRECIATED AND NEEDS MORE VIEWS IMMEDAITELY
Bloody clever. People say I'm clever and I always say not really because I know what clever can do and what you've done is far beyond me.
Pretty fantastic! For science fairs, the trend may be to change the name to science and engineering fairs. This more engineering than science. With that name change, dropping the requirement for a hypothesis, which is generally contrived, more would likely be excited about the science fair. Keep on building cool stuff!

There was a time in history where the line between science and engineering, and even art and philosophy, was blurrier. I think it's all part of the same human pursuit of knowledge. In this day and age the humanities are long-divorced from real science, but the marriage between engineering and science can be made stronger. Let's be honest, kids just want to have some fun, and robots are better than their mom's Candy Crush phone.
alternate title: engineer discovers animation for the first time
You started with a sketch, then you CNC'd it. That's some big-boy etch-a-sketch.
What a creative project!

Dude, your channel is going to blow up with subs. I predict 2 million by next year. This is amazing content and you always get straight to the point, no stupid long intros.
You're actually amazing, one of the best builders on KZread!

This is one of the best cat vdo I have seen in a while. Hope you could get more views and more likes.
You would have made my life so much better if I got to see this at my school when I was a kid. Instead I became a drug addict.
This is awesome I just bought myself An Etch-a-Sketch and was playing with it wondering about all of the neat things that I could do with it and I found Your video thank you
This is soooo neat! Love the channel!💎💙
I subscribed for you man. Great job!
Brilliant video 👌 I had one when I was 6, and my gran drew a circle, I could never do it, I thought she was a magician

amazing! you deserve more views
That's really cool.. I had thought about doing something similar, but I'd never have thought (or have the patience) to make a MOVIE out of this thing! (maybe you need it to shake itself clear in version 2, so it can be automatic??).. And.. did you win the science fair!? There REALLY should be an adult category in all local science fairs, to let the kids see what others can do!!

My kids' elementary school has parent-made exhibits for the kids to play with. I built a smoke cannon and a leaf blower that shoots pingpong balls across the gym. I did see one etchasketch on KZread that pivots on a turret to reset itself, but I like the portability of this one.
I love it! Now put an auto shaker in it, attach the camera eye to the box and add some more software to make it make the videos itself.
This is amazing. Been thinking try building this for a while. Thanks for showing it :) When I saw you shaking it I thought it defenetly needs a automatic shaker motor in there to reset it :P
That is AWESOME!!!!
That was good fun, thanks.
Pretty cool man
It starts with a dot, a dot that's hot! The etch-a-sketch animator!
Duuuude, Amazing!
really nice!!

Brilliant!

*Dude this is amazing, i see this channel growing exponentially, unlike other "tech/diy" youtubers you actually make interesting cool unique projects that anyone not lazy or stupid could follow and learn from, very much bigclivedotcom vibe, but american. You should make it so you take a picture of something and it draws it on the etch a sketch. Put a camera on it and then say cheese.
Brilliant.
Impressive !!!!!
My God isnt this Cool? Awesome!!
wish i could do such a thing . thanks a lot your videos really help a lot

You should try and build a "self shaker" of sorts. That way you could let it run over a long period of time and make some pretty elaborate animations!
Instead of manually shaking, could a vibrating or shaking base work? I'm sure you could test by touching it with an electric sander or something just to see if the effort would be worth it.
This is absolutely amazing!! could you walk us through the details more🙏?! EDIT: subscribing to Build 2 now !!!
Cпасибо! We watch it in Russia! That is awesome !
He needs more support and subscribers LIKE THE VIDEO NOW
Wow!
I think u have too much freetime in ur life 😂 but this is a rly awesome work! Nice dude! 👍
you could make scaffold that goes over it and holds a stylus, have the stylus linked in x and y to the x and y knobs and you're done! (Yes i'm aware that kind of defeats the purr-pose of an etchasketch)
Great work man working so hard I wish u get more subs and like I too like making stuff I am engineer too 😁

This reminds me of the How It’s Made introduction
Why is it always engineers with just the best things
Reminds me of This old Tony....
I'm surprised you didn't put an autoshaker on it so that at the end of the drawing it takes a picture, shakes it, and then draws the next drawing. Still pretty cool though, similar to how a 3D printer works.
Nerd, happy? Eh joke.. nice video bro.
Hey Quint, great video! What's the chart under the periodic table at your workbench, Sir?
@QuintBUILDs
3 жыл бұрын
Thanks! It's a resistor color code chart I believe.
as impressive as this is it becomes a whole lot less impressive when you see what people can draw on an etch a sketch by hand :D
I’m guessing you turned the image files into .cad files then ran them in a CNC program on the raspberry pie? Or did you run the cnc program on a pc?

I thought he was gonna animate it by adding electronics to shake it automatically and draw images in real time. But there's no way even he's talented enough to do that.
Wow
Woahhhh
To quote Bill Nye "Science rules"
You should make it where it shakes at certain rates to get transparency and shades
In the future, animators will be replaced by robots and AI. This innovation will surely make updates in manga, mawha and anime fast and not costly.
You should add an auto erase feature for this thing.
I wish I had time for the fun projects you do. Do i have a cnc no but could make one. Do I have a 3d printer yes. Work shop for all sort of repairs, got computers KZread, yep humm a cnc machine Um nope, but wait I have all the other stuff lets make a cnc machine great. Dang gotta go make some repairs, no more time dang it.
Wait did you go to south west midle school Gastonia
Amazing! (But couldn't you make a machine to shake it??)
Maybe you could automate erasing it, then use RGB lighting to take different component images and blend them together to make color video?

@@QuintBUILDs Good luck! It would be really cool.
add a vibration motor for automatic resetting, then you can have it make videos all on its own :P
Imagine this if there was touch screen added just shakes it and redraws the image
A plotter!
maybe just add a little motor with an offcenter mass to shake it and reset it
