    When he said "this thing is trying to kill me" I felt that. Ive had long covid since Feb 2020. I realized over time, this is war, and im going to win. Its been 4 years of a horrid battle but i am winning. ❤ to all those suffering.

    Thank you so much @chandy, that means the world to me. Not many people are open to discussing self love. To be honest, until this recovery I thought self love was for weak people. Little did I know it was the key to contentment, my health, happiness.

    "Not good enough" I think must be addressed and is at the heart of the achiever and people pleaser (two common subtypes of personalities of people who get ME/CFS). We are human beings not human doings!

    Thank you for sharing this!!!! I too have used breathing and polyvagal techniques to help my body relax. (I have post covid POTS). I've also started going to an upper cervical chiropractor who has been takin off any extra pressure off my central nervous system and I'm seeing brain fog lift for a few hours of the day, and gaining more energy and can change my mindset to a happier place. I spent monthis in suicidal ideation b/c I never thought I'd get my life back. But videos like this keep encouraging me to not give up and I can fully recover.

    Excellent interview! It’s so helpful to hear these success stories. I recently recovered from an illness and was told I should feel better after 3 months. Fast forward 9 months later and I was still experiencing pain and fatigue. I have been focusing on calming my nervous system through deep breathing, exercise, and somatic tracking. I am breaking the fear cycle. I am now 95% better and know I’ll be 100% better soon. Thank you for sharing this video! Looking forward to watching more!

    Attack the illness in every way you can as quickly as you can. Stop it in its tracks. Read up on as much as you can. Watch every relevant video on KZread. Try every supplement. Get every test done. Sleep as much as you can. Eat as healthily as you can. Do everything you can to get ahead of the curve of the illness so you can take control and slowly find your way back to good health.

    I have been watching this channel for around 2 and half months and through these interviews, I am seeing progress (albeit slow) in my health. I'm a LC guy and I have been doing a lot of things Roberto did since watching the particular interview and they are helping. I accept it will take time, but I am actually enjoying healing things within me that, realistically, were there way before Covid. Thanks to both of you. Love and positive energy. And for those of you in this with me, recovery will likely be one of the best things we do in our lifes time, and the long term benefits will greatly outweigh the struggle, I am sure of that.

    ME/CFS and Long Covid is all about Nervous System dysregulation and yes, Poly Vagal Theory, maladaptive stress response etc etc its all the same! Nervous system regulation and getting back to living predominantly in the Ventral State not in Sympathetic or Dorsal!

    Registered Nurse, was working in the hospital, type A personality, symptoms of covid over a month, immediately turned to LC (brain fog, memory loss, extreme fatigue, PEM), unable to return to work, past trauma, 14 months of Long Covid is where I’m at. Mindfulness, meditation, yoga, clean diet, PT, OT, ST, supplements, and tons of research, always two steps forward two steps back. But now I’m finding hope in all of these recovery stories. Grateful 💚

    I concur. When i heard people talking about being “go getters” with past trauma. I was like “thats me”! Also agree, that trying to push myself( my natural response) did me no favors!

    @30bananaguy I am glad you did. It's insane how our type of of personality knows nothing about self-love. I used to think back in the day that mental health was a thing for weak people and that there is nothing such as mental health for healthy people. When I started reading about emotions, I started watching people around me and realized that they were really taking care of themselves. It was an automatic thing for them that they were not even aware of it nor were they giving it a name of "self love." While for us, it's such an unnatural thing that it doesn't even cross our mind. It's crazy! I will get the book of self-love from the library and read it. It's time for me to live. I have been putting so much pressure on myself. I went through some crazy. It's time for a change.

    There are lots of videos on vagus nerve and relaxation exercises (breathing, stretching, yoga, dancing, chanting, humming etc). For the mindset, but mindful of your thoughts while doing the exercises...Don't block of negative thoughts (feel them, listen to them)...but then redirect back positive thoughts of "love". RAIN meditation, compassion meditations and Yoga Nidra meditation have been very good for me.

    So nice to see people escape from the hell of illness, especially when there seems to be no hope. Thank God. I hope I can get out of this symptom-fest at some point. It's really just annoying at this point - makes life so much harder - when life would be so joyful right now without this challenge. I am not sure what to do, but I do know I need to have hope.

    Great interview! I feel like I am on a similar journey and slowly getting better. It sounds easy, but it is very hard. Acceptance, self-love and overcoming past traumas that might be holding us back... not easy, but rewarding.

    I thought this was one of the best interviews yet. I totally relate to what Roberto says. I've always been a very results-oriented person. I would set goals; I'd achieve goals. When I got ME/CFS, this formula no longer worked. Like Roberto, I tried everything under the sun. I also went from doctor to doctor. I fell into despair and became very depressed. I was not a quick study. It took me years (I've had ME/CFS for over 20 years) before I saw a change. And the change came about once I learned to let go and just appreciate the life I had. I dropped the goals and developed a sense of acceptance. I did all this not just through thinking happy thoughts, but through mindfulness meditation. This daily practice calmed me down and created the space for a sense of peace and happiness. I would add one other thing: The medical community is not completely clueless and, sometimes, can provide help. I was recently put on a drug, off-label, that has helped bump up my level of function. I'm not completely recovered, like Roberto, but, then, again, I'm a lot older than him and have been sicker a lot longer. At least now--after being so sick for so many years--I can get out of the house, take trips with my husband, and do more of the things I love. So I echo what Roberto says: never ever give up.

    I got covid February 2020 but I got CFS around 2016-2017 - the lockdown saved my life because I got to stay home and sleep and relax.

    I can resonate with this. I used to workout too hard, I also was going through a breakup right before my infection. During recovery I started working out again. My body prolly just burned out

    I would work and workout until I was exhausted...I loved the rush of adrenaline. Then went through the hardest breakup of my life right before getting an infection also. The fact so many of us have similar stories and many have recovered is very hopeful.

    wow just wow.. the honesty. i tell myself if everyday that God wanted me to die he would have allowed it. we need to be more grateful and have more self love. as a person going through long covid i we really struggle mentally and right now in my country zambia cases are rising and the thought of re-living that stage is frightening.take care everyone.

    Very interesting, as always. I'm at 23 months of long covid and step by step, trying to go in the right direction. LC gave me many food intolerance that trigger my autonomic nervous system severely and avoid these foods have helped. Going out in the sun also helps, along with, of course, letting go and accepting where I am. Slowly getting there!

    I hope you continue progressing. please make sure to do those exercises and try to practice it around food as well. Maybe a breathing exercise after eating and telling yourself you are safe and this food is healthy.

    Interesting. We got Long Covid at the exact same time. But unlike him, i found Raelan's channel within 2 months and immediately i started using her advise. For me, I'd say taking probiotics in the form of fermented foods and taking walks, were my biggest reasons for recovery at the beginning, so when i started adding meditations later on i eventually got to almost full recovery in about 8 months.

    @@MrKelso85 33 years old now. I tried a whole bunch of coginitive supplements and things that would help with energy. Not gonna lie I thought they helped a little but personally I think it was placebo because it never lasted. Some people reach out and tell me that supplements have helped them tons, who am I to say other wise. Im happy this interviewed touched you my friend. Don't be afraid to reach out. But I never forget being on my couch listening to Raelan's video and telling myself, "rob if you get better, you will come back and share. your story to helps others just like those that shared". I had to go back and bring back these memories of feeling sick, it was not easy....it reminded me people are really suffering out there.

    This was great. Thank you both. PVT is huge and very helpful. I agree with you Raelan, Roberto is so good at this, that he could do this for a living.     What a great guy and pure gold what he's sharing❤ what a tragedy doctors are not taught thus stuff! It should be part of school education to! How can empowering if this was common knowledge for everyone!! Can't help wondering why so much is suppressed in the system!😮

    Great encouraging story: our brain is so powerful! I too at 69 went thru a similar journey- covid jan 2022. A bit rough but ummm not really. Fear then led me into fatigue headaches bouts of nausea & numbness. Feb thru Aug. i then accepted that its ptsd fear fueled real symptoms. I had 3 physicals blood ekg mri urine etc. nothing. Im fit lift weights 30” waist. Also a Type A perfectionist people pleaser Most LC is from the ANS which is our brain

    @@30bananaguy all of my symptoms are gone. Took 4-6 months. I reaad Sarno Schubiner & others. Used KZread vids & took an agressive attitude. A type of anger I was already full of fear & anxiety due to having an ablation for atrial flutter 8-6-21. Its all perfect too. I allowed emotions to create pain (symptoms) real yes but not real not caused by tissue damage. I now question most health issues: headaches back pain tendonitis etc. God Bless you hope youre well

    I really enjoyed this interview. I'm sick since my second vaccine 1.5yrs ago and I believe it's pretty much the same as Roberto described. It's nice to see more long covid recovery stories because it underlines the hypothesis that it's fairly similar to ME or maybe my case. Thank you so much for sharing! :)

    I also had a lot of POTS symptoms. It's weird how all of these issues are the same and polyvagal does explain all these different symptoms. All stem from the same problem. The overactive nervous system, believes it isn't safe.

    @@jilyvanily same here and have been ill for around the same time as you from my first vaccination. I think it’s all the same thing, long covid, me/cfs, post viral/vaccine syndrome etc etc. hope you’re improving, I definitely have but it’s slow!

    @@MichaelSkibitybados That's nice to hear that you are improving! It got worse for me until a month ago when I discovered Raelans channel and the possibility that I can become healthy again. I haven't really found anyone else who has these symptoms from the vaccine + believes its the same as ME + thinks they can get healthy again.

    I deeply resonate with his experience, and PTSD from being in the hospital itself. EMDR is Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. Works very well for PTSD/trauma and I’ve personally used it for previous PTSD as well. Beautiful description of cultivating self love as well - as soon as I started working through a ton of trauma related to my professional life (when caused a massive limiting belief/self-hate) and enjoying NOW, I felt better. It’s a daily and hourly practice as the type A personality and trauma each impact all areas of life, but it works wonders.

    That mindset change is what truly started my recovery process. Learning to love myself without needing approval or accomplishing things. Without this the exercises wouldn't have worked.

    @@ianmilnes4019 I am living back to normal, full-time job (I did change jobs to a low-stress one), I run 20 miles a week, and ride twice a week with no symptoms or PEM. After 1.5 years of not working out, my body was weak but crazy how the body adapts. But getting back to working out wasn't easy. I have a whole process that helped me. Pretty much exposure therapy style. But doing exercises before and after things that triggered me including exercise.

    I'm type A and I had a past trauma with a very ambitious personality. Polyvagel? I know my nervous system is shot. EMDRI? Yes fight or flight - breathing stretching makes a lot of sense because I feel better when a did a daily as stretch. And just sat at an outdoor cafe and did nothing

    Bingo! Pre trauma then hit with a viral or bacterial or stress!!!! I had a traumatic near-death drowning with a spine injury never really treated properly and then the cascade and then I had another near-death trauma hemorrhaging post delivery hearing them say that I wasn’t going to make it for hours working on me to get me to stop bleeding it was terrifying more terrifying because it was long drawn out listening to them trying to decide what to do to save me or save my uterus Listening to them tell my husband he couldn’t leave to check on the baby because he needed to be there to make decisions about what happens next because they didn’t think I was going to make it because I was losing blood faster than I can get it in me. A brand new mother thinking that their child is going to be raised with absolutely horrid not facing my own death but facing a thought that my child would not have a mother. I just wish I had access to care at this stage to know if there is actually damage to my spine or my cord that is signaling this and I won’t get well until that’s resolved now that I have a realization that that’s possible and even probable in my situation because I just had incredible shooting pain going up my spine into my head at the time of that spine injury and then I was sensitive to absolutely everything in the world after that that I wasn’t before. I would go into work and have to leave after about an hour or two but I eventually kind of recovered myself but then after the postpartum hemorrhage and then having two more children it was just a downward spiral. Then almost 30 years after that spine injury and just trying to push through the debilitating illness raising children all those years I got hit with Covid and it totally took me down to a whole new level. At the same time I got hit with Covid I had a septic fell in my home and it was revealed that that septic fell had been happening for a year and there was mold and all of the floors and foundation and I had been very sick for the year since moving into that home. Then I became homeless and such an incredibly ill state and being homeless I’ve spent a year just trying to take one step at a time left and right walking in the woods trying to con my system trying to recover myself. I’m basically almost out of funds I haven’t been able to get disability because I just don’t have access to care without it making me more sick with the mass cell activation when you can’t work when you don’t have support system when you can’t get access to care or disability…. I’ve fallen into a gap in a disability scenario. The only way out is to recover myself and somehow provide for myself yeah he pretty much sums it up in this video I’m not a type a but I was married to a Type A driver and he drove me into stress and illness and still does by driving my children into illness and stress and trauma. I do believe that the poly vagal dynamic is such a player with an annulment nervous system and I do believe that each person has to figure out what works for them based on knowledge and understanding of what’s driving that system and then do their own work there are so many people out there bringing different ways and means you just gotta find the ones that fit but I think first identifying if there’s actually a spine injury or if your cord is tethered or you have a connective tissue disorder that’s then impacting that is so critical it’s a first step that needs to be identified…. and yet..: that is so rare. The lady that made unrest the film unrest finally was identified as having a tethered cord and after she resolved that she was fully healed. But sometimes it can be an underlying genetic witness such as connective tissue disorder that interrupts the signaling doesn’t have the support system just enough to mess with that autonomic nervous system identifying if you have that is a critical part and yes our medical field is letting us down in this regard. When the patient hast to learn more about the medical world and our own bodies and how they work we have been betrayed. They have done harm and it’s called negligence by refusing to explore and believe that our symptoms are real or many doctors that have but they are swimming upstream. And the doctors who refused to acknowledge it or than the ones that prevent you from getting access to financial and medical support. Thank you for making this video I really appreciate it a whole bunch. And yes that death experience trauma is terrifying I’m so sorry that happened to you😢 Sadly when I went to the hospital with Covid because I was in severe hypertension and I tend to convulse when I pass out from that and I didn’t want my son to have to see and deal with that so I went to the hospital and they tried to just release me because I didn’t have lung issues and I finally had to threaten suicide to get them to put me on an IV and check some other things and get me back to homeostasis isn’t it sad when we have to become a mental case to get medical care. The attending nurse who was so dismissive of my medical state when I said I was suicidal at the thought of being sent home in that state declared they took mental health seriously…. I said then hook me up to an IV and replenished my system and they did. When the doctor came around he gave me an antibiotic drink for my UTI that the antibiotics didn’t seem to be resolving. Later it was revealed I had Klebsiella Pneumonia as the UTI bacteria and my system wasn’t able to fight off covid Klebsiella and the septic mold poisoning hitting all at the same go figure 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ Yet because my lungs were clear you can just go home without any treatment. My whole system felt like it was crashing and they were going to do nothing. I guess I’m lucky that my lungs were clear and I was not put on a ventilator to die.

    My heart I literally was one of the ones intubated for over two months . I am here by the grace of God , still fighting long covid on oxygen , with so many issues but I’m fighting ! KZread med school for sure . Looking forward to receiving stem cells in May .

    This was such a powerful video. I've been long hauling since 2020 & I'm 29 with 3 kids. Life has been brutal since I caught this horrible disease. I've became hopeless the past 6 months & was desperately searching for answers, I've had a few drs that have suggested different medications & I think it's slowly helping. I'm starting to have good days again so I'm optimistic I can finally turn this around. If you are struggling just know you can do this.

    Everyone should look up “top down vs bottom up” therapy approaches. Brain retraining didn’t work for him because he needed a bottom up approach, especially with his PTSD background. So if CBT approaches (brain retraining, talk therapy, etc.), don’t work for you, try a bottom up approach! Also look up “pendulation”. It’s a somatic experiencing technique that I think would be helpful for a lot of people, especially if you feel like you’ve been stagnant in your recovery.

    Wow. Thank you so much Roberto for all you shared. I've been recovering for way too many years and just in the past few months the term "Poly Vagal theory" has floated around a retraining program I am doing. Raelen, I feel like after doing, listening and reading (A LOT) this is coming down to like a 3 legged stool: Brain, Nervous system, Body. And with in each of these are various tools to help the body heal and get into balance. Every person I have read or heard that has recovered, never goes back to the life or person they were....by choice. Recovery is a teachable tool.     Yes!! I totally agree with you. You cannot continue being the same person and heal. I used to be very type A and very competitive with myself, would be no room for mistakes and had guilt enjoying life. During my recovery I had to change as a person. I no longer stress about things I have no control over, can be a little non chalant. I am more patient. Instead of being critical of self I have self compassion. I’m not worried about chasing the joneses. I prioritize doing things that bring joy, before I used to only stress and push myself to do things to make money or somehow climb the ladder. I could careless about the ladder and now love riding my bike with my wife and kid.

    Doing my own self therapy I realized sooo much of my personality and my drive came from being emotionally and physically being abused as a child. We really become trained to become perfectionistic to gain love and approval. Everything changes as an adult when you realize that you can just love yourself, accept yourself, be yourself, just because you are alive. No need to earn it.

    Roberto you have such a great energy. You're a wonderful storyteller, very animated. I enjoyed so much listening to your story. As I'm on a similar healing journey myself so much of what you said resonated with me. I'm practicing lots of similar things. I also am doing the Gupta program I'm 3 months in and although I'm learning so much from it and its all coning together I also feel its a bit long winded at times and I've realised I need to take a direction and further work into my disconnect with my emotions. I feel gupta is an important tool but I'm moving more into the direction of mind body connection and self love. I love the way your explain your experience wuth this and I'm so happy for you. I managed to walk my longest walk today of 3.5k and felt good and praying for no PEM which I don't feel will happen. I can't wait to run again one day!     Omg! Congrats on the walk. If you are struggling with PEM, I would recommend an exercise (breathing, yoga, laughing yoga, doing something that makes you joyful) right after completing things that trigger PEM. I would do breathing exercise after the gym because I know it would trigger PEM. Your nervous system doesn’t think it’s safe when it’s doing those exercises (the walk, strength training, run, hike) and so coupling it with something that calms ur nervous system after helped me tremendously. Hope that helps. You got this!

    Yes the A type personslity drives one deeper into sickness because u force yourself to do things & I want to do it all to get back to our old self - now I have to pace myself - my value is not in my accomplishments. Being happy is better trying to be all that and some. Be grateful with what u have now - God does not look at your accomplishments but God loves u for you. I am trying to understand this at a heart level. Joy & happiness without having to earn it.

    Amazing interview! I spoke with Roberto when he posted on Reddit and he really helped me pin down the information I had and really believe in my recovery journey with Long covid. Especially listening to him as he had similar issues with me as well as being a nurse really helped me believe. You have no idea how much you’ve helped me Roberto especially with the deep breathing app. I love these recovery videos I watch them daily thank you for making them Raelan! I am about 98-99% recovered doing dnrs, deep breathing and positive thinking. Also letting go of my workaholic expectations Roberto told me about has really helped me. I am back to work and feel better now

    @@30bananaguyyou can’t talk it down, you actually have to generally feel calm and safe.basically you have to practise feeling feeling safe, you have to things that make you feel safe ,do things that generally bring you joy and happiness type of thing ? You gotta feel safe not tell you’re self you’re safe, and doing things that make you feel safe in situations that triggers the symptoms will eventually heal ? Sorry for all the questions

    Hi Raelan I have been going through your interviews for ME/CFS and it gives so much hope for ppl who are going through I am listening for my daughter who has CFS and was doing great till this January and we are trying to figure out what triggered it. Any how so far no one has mentioned if they had vision problem if they had did they get their vision back? And when do you know you are 100%better ? Just hoping the best . I have great understanding of this symptoms know so we as parents can support better. Thank you❤

    Yes! I had covid March 2020 and went through the 10 days of fever, etc. but not hospitalized. About a month and a half of recovering, I had severe "floaters" in my vision. I was terrified and had never heard of them before. I have adjusted since, but my vision was affected. I have been diagnosed with long covid, as well. Best wishes for your family

    Accept where you are right now. Reframe negative thoughts Celebrate anything. Pacing is important. And try some creatine!

    Thanks for this video Roberto and Raelan! I've been long haul since early April 2020, I'm 30 now. It has been a real eye opening experience for me. In some ways its been eye opening in the best way - its made me look at the relationship I had with my body before being unwell. I now actually hug myself everyday, remind my body its now safe. I also have Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy, I wasn't particularly concerned about getting covid at the time, but everyone around me was and in general I was stressed and exhausted from just general things in life at the time. Anyway I hadn't even heard of EDMR (i think aha) therapy but I've tried a different diet, vagus nerve exercises and medications and found benefits. I'm open to any and every possibility, it'll come at the right time. I've found Diet and Vagus Nerve exercises to be really beneficial for me more than anything. Also as others below have said about past traumas etc, lots of inner work have really helped, not being critical at myself but looking at myself and past with a neutral view and letting go of it. I'm really very positive about the future and again I have such a new outlook on life and I know everything will align for myself and for all of us! Also I am aware I have other conditions that may differ some of my symptoms but from everyone I've spoken to, it all sounds generally somewhat the same. Much kindness to everyone! 😄

    I had covid six time since 2021, I had my lungs destroyed six times, it destoryed me I have Lyme and as I write I am sufocating , horibble digestig issues and all kind of crap pain and suffering...

    @@User98681 none that have helped me long term. For me I think it was more placebo because first two weeks my symptoms improved and then came back. You can watch my channel Nurse Rob explaining polyvagal

    @@User98681 I tried Gupta program and did not like it. It was too complex and I didn’t have the mental energy or capacity to follow it. I will be posting video on that channel of the polyvagal exercises.

    Hi thanks for this I've been dealing with so many issues due to covid gi weight loss diarea muscle and bone aches and just so fatigued .My gp won't offer any help so I'm on my own can I ask did your muscles hurt and waste away and did you push though to be able to do yoga ?

    I did push or force myself to do all these exercises. But for yoga be very gentle and I only did floor moves. And focus on the deep breathing while feeling the stretch
