As a young boy, we went to an exhibit of his. I believe it was near Jefferson Barracks in Mo. I'm nearly 40 now. Also I live 45 minutes from Alton. Definitely an extraordinary person.

The reason no one has been taller than this man today is because luckily modern medicine can monitor conditions involving hypertrophy of the pituitary gland. Some may envy his height, but honestly it's not something you would want to have. It would be extremely uncomfortable and painful considering leverages.
I'm guessing the poor guy had sepsis, due to the infection from the blister? Rest peacefully Robert . I knew a man in 🇬🇧 who was 6'7", he always had little guys wanting to fight him. This never happened as he wasn't a violent man. However, the same problem sprung up worldwide once he travelled overseas with the British Royal Navy. No small guys would give him any peace, so a tactic of his was agreeing to fight and placing his huge hands on the little guys head and saying "hit me first and I'll fight". The little guys were left aggressively swinging punches into the air, due to being 2ft short of reach thanks to those hands firmly keeping fight suitors at a distance! Being bigger than everyone else does not make life easier, someone ALWAYS wants to KO the "big guy". RIP Carlos ❤

Poor guy, giantism is a very serious health problem. The taller the person is, the harder the heart must work to pump all of that blood. I bet even if he did not get that infection he may not have lived for a very long time either.
