While he was playing in Twilight he was already doing other roles in between. If anything Twilight saga made him work harder to wash off the stigma of being another pretty boy teen crush. But maybe because of that he became such a good actor since he had give double the effort to proove himself.

Mind you comparing Twilight to Jackson's LOTR trilogy is pretty fucked up in its own right lol. And the Harry Potter movies were by and large pretty decent too. It's fine not to be into fantasy as a personal taste, but mentioning poorly written/acted trashy romance aimed at teenage girls in the same breath as Return Of The King which won 11 Oscars (one of only 3 films in the history of cinema to do so) should be punishable by death
