Wiizardii I know what you mean, they will never be as good as they were in taxi driver/ raging bull or godfather II/ scarface. But I think that under the direction of a proper director(i.e.Scorsese) and are given the correct roles for their personalities, then they can make one last great movie. I don't think al or bob have had a great role since heat, and a good role since.....im not so sure, but im sure they can.

Still the greatest single screen performance I've ever seen by De Niro in Raging Bull. Pity for Peter O'Toole though not winning again, the Academy should be embarrassed never ever getting this magnificent actor over the line - but 1981 he didn't stand a chance. Sally Field was a total fox back then, gorgeous woman.

One of the best deserved Oscar wins of all time. De Niro was just amazing in "Raging Bull." The amount of dedication he put into that role is still incredible all these years later.

+poopstainhotdog1 1967 was tough too.. Rod Steiger in In the heat of the night, Paul Newman in Cool Hand Luke, Dustin Hoffman in The Graduate, Spencer Tracy in Guess who's coming to dinner, and Warren Beatty in Bonnie and Clyde..

He was GORGEOUS back in the day.

Deserved, but I can't avoid not feeling a bit sad about John Hurt missing his chance. His performance in The Elephant Man was one for the ages and just as timeless as De Niro's. In my perfect world, both should have been recognized.

Robert De Niro deserved the Oscar He really deserved two Oscar's because he was so great in this movie. It was a difficult part to play. He turned his whole appearance to be like Jake. Mr. De Niro, you are the greatest actor. I mean that you can play any part perfect. Thank you for the great movies.
