Any main stay players in a team that dominated for a dynasty have to be in the hall of fame. I don't think the Arsenal players deserve it as much as the Chelsea players. Ashley Cole, Terry and Cech were the spine of Chelsea dominance for a really long time. Rio Ferdinand and Vidic have to be there for the same reason. I wouldn't include Carrick and Neville because they weren't sensational players, they just happened to be in a winning team.

I’d absolutely love to agree with Robbie but Rory is correct. I hate to say it as a life long arsenal fan but that Chelsea back 5 was absolutely incredible

Arsenal fan as well. I went with Terry, Ferdinand and Vidić but was debating Cole for the 3rd spot. I just think Vidić was incredibly underrated and also my wife is Serbian haha. Robbie is such a homer in these videos, it makes me cringe to watch him sometimes.

@@woody19995 Paolo Maldini played most of his career games at left back, but everyone remembers him as a center back, due to his iconic partnerships with first Baresi and then Nesta. But even if you consider Paolo Maldini as a center back and not a left back, Roberto Carlos is still ahead of Ashley Cole.

As a City fan, my player from us I would really push for is David Silva. He ran the midfield of every game he played for 8 years for us.

I’m an Arsenal fan and I’d say both Cole’s, Terry and Cech had to be in the HOF in the first round probably. They are arguably the top 3-4 in their positions in the PL and should have been automatics ahead of the likes of Drogba, Schmeichel, Keane etc.

Irwin was so consistent and reliable. He was a no nonsense player that got on with his job and made it easier for his teammates. And this is coming from an Arsenal fan that while I didn’t like how Ashley Cole left he was still an amazing LB.

The way they've setup this hall of fame is so stupid, just choosing the most popular players from the top clubs, even if they've only retired recently. I can think of so many players off the top of my head that deserve to be there, Zola, Le Tissier, Pallister, Bruce, Irwin.

John Terry highlight reel player diving into tackles etc because he was constantly out of position.. Rio was miles better than Terry hence why he won 6 premier leagues

Have you not seen Ashley Cole play? Maldini is 10/10 attack, 6/10 attack. Carlos is 10/10 attack, 6/10 defense. Marcelo is 10/10 attack, 7/10 defense. Ashley cole was 10/10 attack and defense. He had no weakness. He pocketed prime Ronaldo and Messi.

I think 3 of the best defenders in the league's history have been overlooked. All three of Ashley Cole, Terry and Ferdinand have to be in for me. No questions asked. The others are all definitely legends. But these 3 need to be in this year!!!

Les Ferdinand was brilliant before his major injury in 97. Was still a fairly reliable goalscorer for 7 or so years after that.

Agree completely with Rory at the end - Defoe and Les Ferdinand have no right to be Hall of Famers. As it stands, Kane and Gerrard are probably the only anomalies that could get in there without winning a PL

My three picks: 1) Terry - Focusing purely on football, Terry was just incredible. 6 times FIFA Pro World XI member (more than any other player in PL history) and was a key part in Chelsea becoming serial winners. I don't think the Abramovic era would have been as successful if he wasn't there. 2) Yaya Toure - I genuinely think he was the complete footballer at his peak. Literally did not have a single weakness to his game. He was just so good. 3) Owen - Controversial one this, as any club he played for kinda hates him, and everybody else just knows him from his commentary/punditry. However, only 2 players in PL history have won the Ballon d'Or, which is the absolute pinnacle individual award. People forget just how amazing he was. The Liverpool team he played in was a park-the-bus team every game, yet he still scored so many goals. For me, he has to go in.

Agreed on Owen. He was like the Mbappe of his time, and in my opinion was slightly better then than Mbappe is now. Also agree on Terry, but as good as Toure was, think A.Cole has to go in first for being the best left back in the world his whole career pretty much.

Agreed there is a reason why England's defensive was never considered world class even though they had Rio/Terry. Imo they were both good but quite overrated as most English players were during that era. Vidic was better than Rio and Carvalho was better than Terry. But if the topic is who is the a hall of famer it could just be Rio/Terry because they stayed in PREM for most of their careers and won a lot.

I get that this was made for click bait and drama, but the only real way to get a proper discussion and their true opinion was say they weren’t allowed to pick players that played for their own clubs (I.e. Rory could pick Arsenal players but not Chelsea players)

My picks are Ashley Cole, best left back ever in PL, Tony Adams for what he has done in English football captain 3 decades 3 titles for Arsenal captain, John Terry argubaly the best centerback at Chelsea and PL history

@@demeoo let me think… they could play for 20 years at the highest level, instead of 10 for Kompany. And they all did it first. Kompany only played 30 games in one of City’s league winning seasons, the last 2 of his 4 titles, he played 17 games. Kompany may have been able to do what Rio and Terry could, but at a slightly lower level. The real problem with the situation is not that Kompany made the hall of fame, it’s that he made it before better centre backs who played twice as long in the league, and who played before him.

Sol Campbell is criminally underrated tbf, but no way getting picked over John Terry and Ashley Cole.

if we're marking Giggs down for character related issues which is obviously the only reason he hasn't been selected. the same should be said for John Terry

Ashley Cole is a better LB then Roberto. Roberto was famous for his free kicks. But LBs aren’t made for free kicks. Roberto was also good in attack but not a beast in defense. Cole was better in attack and defense.

Agree regarding Defoe however, Ferdinand was brilliant before his big injury in 97. Was still fairly reliable in front of goal for a good few years after that.

lets be honest its pretty obvs who the next 3 should be: 1. Terry 2. Cole 3. Adams 4. Rio 5. Andy Cole 6. Campbell

I think Ashley Cole was a fantastic left back.. I have no problem with someone having that opinion.. I would just remind you that many would argue (me included) Dennis Irwin is the best left back... So it's not THAT one sided as you presents it.. Irwin scored more than twice the amount than Ashley Cole, and won more significant trophies than Cole aswell.. And the greatest manager of all time, SAF, described Irwin's signing for Manchester United as 'pound for pound, the greatest ever'... He is without a shadow of a doubt in the conversation..

its andy cole, gary neville and rio ferdinand before anyone else. 187 goals with 1 pen, 12 prem titles, 6 titles with 3 in a row. there are 3 generations of united players that get in before any city/chelsea player lol.

Andy Cole, Rio Ferdinand and John Terry, my 3 picks. Cole was as good a goalscorer as anybody, and did it without pens, and scored over 180 pl goals. Outstanding. Rio is i think the best defender and won multiple PL titles, Terry is a great goalscoring CB, and was a terrific defender. Tbh a great group of players to choose from.

3:00 no debate on LB? Irwin was 2 footed. Irwin could mark a winger our of the game. Irwin could attack as good as Cole. Irwin could play RB as easily as LB. Could take free kicks, corners and penalties. Awesome defined. Cole was better than Nevilles, Evra and Valencia. Not better than Irwin.

The point of the hall of fame is getting lost. It doesn't matter who gets in first. It only matters that they do. The point is to give those who go into the hall of fame an official form of recognition for their contributions and to let them have a moment where they can give a speech, tell a story or two, take in that moment and share it with their loved ones and ultimately to leave behind a piece of legacy for all those who weren't around to see them play in their prime and for those who need be reminded of them. It makes absolutely no sense to induct players who retired only a few years ago. The premier league should be focussing on players from the 90s that have, to a certain extent become forgotten or under appreciated over the years. And every year should have a headliner along with a few lesser known people, older people should be given priority for obvious reasons. Sir Alex and Wenger should both have had their own separate years instead of having to share it.

Here is the problem with picking players. The league started in 1992, so players should be chosen from the first year only. Then the 2nd year and so on. The players on the list are all very good players, but time is overlapping their playing time. Once it gets caught up, then a player would need to be done playing for 5-7 years to be eligible.
