Oh, do it, and go all over KZread and listen to every Irish player you can find, and every other frame drum tradition. It's vast.

Does using a bar in your hand on the back of the bodhran make the changing of tones as you move your hand more pronounced than just using the back of your hand? Brilliant playing!

That's cool - it shows the potential for the instrument in terms of technicality. But a bodhran's never played like this. It's the continuous bassline throughout a trad session - 600+ years worth of Irish people throughout the centuries banging away on the skins. Outstanding instrument - brings life to every gathering.

I must state forstly that I love this solo, the performance and the performer behind which. However, i wishto share one gripe that I am compelled to share due to the obvious brilliance of this piece, thus not requiring my adding to the alreasy perfectly explained glowing reviews here. my gripe is the decision to perform a speeding up of the tempo, original pulse, feature. While this might excite the average listener, for me as a drumset player i found this rhythmically stifling and unecessarrily distracting. The tone, the rhythms, the phrasings and the musicality all impressed me so much that i foundbit hard not to dislike the moment the player decided to have a section that phased the tempo into a faster one. I enjoyed the dance and syncopation of his melodic work but this suddenly became slightly obscured when the speeding up became a motif of this solo. I share thhis with real compliments and respect fpr the overall piece and o think o demonstrate my real respect by expressing any disappointment because of personal expectations. Ignoring the speed up i easily enjoy the musicality and creativity of this excellent percussion artist, but i cannot shake wishing he simply sat in the pocket and allowed me to marvel his syncopated rhymical dance when settled on a regular or more consistent pulse reference. I hope im not being overly critical and an understood for what im trying to express here
