John Joe Kelly Bodhran Solo - Christ church Dublin 2012
Музыка
John Joe Kelly plays the bodhran accompanying Michael McGoldrick at the first gig for the
Temple bar trad fest. This gig took place in the brilliant setting of Christ Church in Dublin.
I've been to a lot of gigs to hear these two but this was probably one of the best.

I recently met Joe. Humble to core. He actually took time to explain to me - a total stranger - his playing technics and gave a personal demonstration. His performance in the concert I saw him in was phenomenal but the time he took to interact with a lay person to explain his art is something I will not forget soon.

He is just one of the better people on earth. Working man whose trade is the drum. A kinder person you’re seldom to meet. Your story is no surprise to me. He would cross the road to give you the shirt off his back x
I' m from México, and I love the sound of Irish music, specially bodhran makes me feel so excited, I enjoy a lot this great performance!!!

Pure God given gift to this Genius. " May he never lose the use of his hands "
That moment at 6:15 when he switched the tipper round in his hand without missing a beat...magic.
Irish traditional music is just beautiful
As a player of the Bodhran myself, I can say the technical difficulty of the rhythm he produces is astronomical.

That man's wrists must be made of some space-age material, because that was AMAZING
It'd be an honor to meet with and work with this guy I produce and record music in the states. Played with Bodhran a bit as a child and have been watching this video religiously for years. I show this to everybody when I tell them about this amazing drum from the motherland. Much love and respect God Bless.
Gosh, he makes the bodhrán sound like such an exotic instrument. Amazing!
Never heard such a beautiful round sound from a tin whistle before. Total class!

Wow Bodhran is amazing, I didn't hear about it until a few days ago. I'm surprised of the variety of tones it has. Sorry, bad English

Of course when I realized it was the great micheal mcgoldrick. So lovely to hear and watch a country that treasures it's music so much. It is wonderful the sing the songs, learn about the history and wonderful to be apart of.
absolutely amazing to get that many different sounds from it
Absolutely amazing!! He's definitely the best bodhran player I've ever heard!! :)

They can have an incredible range. I can get a similar range out of one of mine. Mind you not with the patterns like he does, but I can follow the full range.
John.this sooooo beautifull
Hahaha...god almighty...a master is in the room! This is so awesome! It's like a tabla solo...just the best bodhran player. Best wishes from across the Irish Sea...
Amazing music. Amazing artists. Amazing venue.
The bodhran solo is incredible! I want to learn how to do that!

Actually it was my husband, Steve Brear, who had the pleasure of playing next to John Joe!
Truly one of the best I have ever heard!
Seen John Joe with Flook several times. Best bodhran player. Amazing sounds in a live performance, it echoes round an auditorium.
I'm starting to learn how to play, and this is certainly a man to look up to for his skill.

When I first started to listen to this drummer, I know I was wearing socks! but he knocked them off halfway through his solo! All three of these musicians are great!
I love the passion these musicians play with!!M
I'm speechless. These guys are great. And that John Joe Kelly on the Bodhran is out of this world. The best I think I have ever heard on that little drum. Thanks for sharing that with the world. The proud tradition of Ireland.

Le bodhran est vraiment un instrument incroyable et félicitation a ces musiciens qui on travaillé dur pour arriver jusque ici surtout le jouer de bodhran!!!
Yea but the Bodhran sets the beat the rythem and when you have Michael McGoldrick on whistle the harmony between all is sublime! These guys are the best and they rock!
I had a teacher from Donegal and she taught us tin whistle, we used to do irish dancing too and this brought me back 🤍
This is a hell of performance
FANTASTIC drumming!
This guy is phenomenal. If I ever get a chance to see him live, I won't miss it.
That was amazing. What talent. Surely he's the best Bodhran player ever yeah?

I do believe the Irish invented blast beats...
I loved that, thanks for uploading. I bought my daughter an 18" bodhran kit in the hope she plays that well. Eldest on gutar, husband on tin whistle and youngest on bodhran. One day :-) will happen.
