Thank you for this video!!! Have a 1996 Versatile purchased before Covid. Has given me a run for my money but am going to persist in repairing. The new Roadtreks have nothing on the older units especially for ventilation.

Absolutely! Hope it helped! Yeah, this beast has been in our family for three generations now. Have a lot of sentimental reasons for keeping her healthy.

Excellent. Purchased a 95 Dodge Versatile a little while ago, in pretty good shape, did have to upgrade several things but all in all it looks pretty good for the year it is. I'll be bookmarking this. Need to watch it a few times and then I'll give it a shot. I think replacing all the fittings for the water heater might be a good idea too. Thnx Steve....

Just thought you might want to know, the manual for our RoadTrek Popular 200 Chevrolet states when sanitizing the potable water system to add 1/4 cup of bleach to 1 gallon of water, then to add a (1) gallon of the water/bleach mixture to every 15 gallons capacity of your water tank. Our tank is 35 gallons, therefore we only need to add 9-1/3-oz of bleach to our tank to sanitize it, not 1/4 cup per gallon of capacity. Your system will most certainly be sanitized though!

Great video, thank you! I hope you make some more of these. I do have a suggestion though. Don't set the bleach jug and measuring cup on the carpet as you will risk getting bleached spots if there are any drips.

Thank you for the amazing video!! Question from this newbie and hope it doesn’t sound silly: if the water heater tank is full and the fresh water tanks are being drained using the water pump, does this method drain the water heater as well?

Thanks for the feedback! No worries. That’s a question I’ve had and have heard asked many times. No, the water pump will not drain out the hot water heater. You have to pull the anode to drain the tank.

I have a 2003 Chevy 190 Popular...does anyone know where the fresh water tank drain valve is located or if there even is one??? thank you....

Thank you for the video, super helpful! Adding the water heater on/off was a great idea. Question: Do you have any suggestions or references for the water heater drain plug replacement(online reference maybe)? I’m having a tough time finding an anod rod with threads that fits my 1995 Roadtrek water heater. The screw size seems to be just slightly to large. (same water heater as yours) .

So, for your winterizing, you didn’t use antifreeze?

  • @stevenash3949

The first time I winterized it I used antifreeze. This year I just used an air compressor and blew out the lines. I prefer the later because it doesn’t use chemicals.

That’s a lot of water! How often should this be done?

I’ve heard every season. But I don’t drink the water out of my rig. So the last time I did it was when I made this video.
