    Great job Todd, do not worry about the keyboard warriors. The vast majority of us that tune in appreciate what you do for the community. I really don't understand why people would buy an RV without the most basic of skills to follow your clear simple recommendations. If i waste time it takes 20 minutes to winterize my RV and when I sanitize in the spring i spend 10 minutes to load 66gal of water and 1.2 cups of bleach, the next afternoon I drain and rinse. Love this series!

    I love these videos! As a new RV owner I find these to be really helpful. I am very interested in coming to take the Fundamentals class in person. Although it's a long drive from North Carolina, I think face to face time in class would be much more fun. I think Todd is really funny so it would be worth the trip.

    Thanks for the info. I've been using bleach at your recommended concentration forever during sanitizing every six months. The only thing I really hate about this process is just *DUMPING* 50 gallons of water out -- I live in California and with all our droughts, we're conditioned to conserve water.

    Chlorine dioxide is the best thing, not bleach! You can make it by mixing sodium chlorite and hydrochloric acid. It's seriously much better than hydrogen peroxide and bleach. Not toxic if consumed in small amounts, and it's actually used industrially for sanitizing water, produce and meats. Hope this helps someone. Thanks for the tips in this video!

    "Holding tank" or "fresh water tank"? "Holding" is typically associated with grey or black water tanks and it certainly peaked my interest when I thought you were about to suggest sanitizing the grey or black holding tanks. Regardless, very timely tip and much appreciated. I was just looking for NRVTA's recommendations for sanitization.

    Thank you for the information. I just sanitized my water tank on a Renegade Vienna RV, however in the process the tank never filled beyond 33%. Can a faulty water pressure regulator impede the flow of water into the tank, or could there be another cause. I'll look forward to seeing your answer. Thank you.

    Hey Todd, Super Awesome videos… all of them! Is there any reason we couldn’t use Iodophor (iodine based sanitizer) instead of bleach? I used to use this to sanitize my kegerator system. Seems like you could also run this through the water heater too since it isn’t as caustic as bleach. Thanks again for your videos and wealth of knowledge.

    Not busting your chops here, but a real question. We just purchased a rig with an Aqua Hot 450 furnace/water heater. What is the protocol for winterizing and sanitizing that type of water heater? Do we run the pink stuff through it? Do we have to turn it off when winterizing? Do we run chlorine mix through it? I appreciate your input.

    Should I sanitize before every trip? We travel only about 4 to 5 times a year

  • @jpe1

    @jpe1

    8 ай бұрын

    The answer is “it depends…” Downside of sanitizing before every trip: cost of the bleach and the time and effort to do it, plus a trivial amount of water used; there is no meaningful wear and tear on the plumbing or anything like that. Upside of sanitizing before every trip: even less likely to get sick from microbial infestation. BUT it’s pretty unlikely that your water system would pick up any contamination or have significant bacterial growth in just 2 or 3 months of sitting, so you are making the effort to reduce a very small risk to be a nearly zero risk.

    Todd, I have a water filter that filters ALL water coming into my RV regardless of whether I am filling the fresh water tank or using water direct. My question is should I remove the filter element before disinfecting? I have heard it is not good to pass the bleach solution through the filter with the cartridge installed Thanks
