Yeah, but the N64's GPU made it capable of a few more things. I notice the locking in between pixels, which didn't happen on the N64 because of the N64's 100 MFlops.

I remember seeing that game when I was on The Shopping Mall’s Arcade area when I was a kid. Good times.

Na época que esse jogo tinha no aeroporto da minha cidade,eu jogava muito,mas não ganhava de jeito nenhum,o que mais me fez lembrar desse jogo lá nos tempos de 2004 a 2007 eram os efeitos sonoros do carro quando pulava,dava uma vibração no banco e só agora apareceu,numa recomendação do KZread,até que enfim descobri qual era o jogo!!!!!!!

I think Xtreme Rally/Offbeat Racer felt more like the HNG64's counterpart to Sega Rally.

Not at all.

Is it true you can only play Roads Edge and Xtreme Rally on specific HNG64 units? As in one for the fighters, one for racing?

Guru Larry Gaming The rail shooter for the hyper 64 also requires it's own specific unit as well. The whole system was released in a poor, sloppily thrown together state, and SNK was already having considerable financial difficulty by the time of it's release. The fact of the matter is that their strength always lied in game development, not hardware.

I wonder what the GPU is based on. Same CPU as the N64 but the graphics are more PS1 level. Seems to lack even texture filtering.

MrMilli The fact of the matter is that SNK's strength always lied in game development, and not hardware development.. By the time of the Hyper 64s abandonment, not even SNK had harnessed the full potential of the platform, as evidenced by the very noticeable jump in quality between this game and Xtreme Rally. They were also already having considerable financial difficulty by the time of the Hyper 64's release... The platform was essentially doomed from the start... They had neither the resources, nor budget to even really have a chance to make the platform a success and arcades were beginning to be on their way out at the time as well... A total perfect storm of bad circumstances, and it makes me very sad, because despite the fact that people always seem to knock the Hyper 64's graphical capabilities, I always thought the games that did come out looked very appealing, regardless of how dated many felt they looked. As we now know, games are far from just about their graphics, and this was merely SNK's first foray of any kind into 3D game development... The platform had almost no chance to develop and shine as the MVS had at the beginning of the decade...

Nevermind, figured it out myself!

The graphics look good but I would have expected better from an arcade based system since this only looks about equal or slightly better than N64 which was out before this.

The graphics have more in common with the first PlayStation, glitchy 3D included (jittering vertex, visible seams, swarming textures). Disappointing for an arcade board released in late 1997. Sega Model 3 and even Model 2 were superior and Naomi would cut into the low price/high 3D performance boards competition offering a much better deal just a year later.

Is there a way around that ? Beacause the other boards are hard to get ..

@turfmasta Hi, im trying to get a Hyper Neo Geo 64 board! I have found some ebay ones but there mostly fighting ones! I have found 1 board that said it could be a replacement for any fighting, shooting, or driving machine! Is this true? É um jogo de fliperama! Ele nunca ganhou um porte doméstico sequer!

i only know about pajero

consegui rodar no Mame 64; porém fica lento e imperfeito, fica sem cor e aparece somente o esqueleto do jogo, gostaria de roda-lo perfeitamente, se alguém souber agradeço desde já.

Infelizmente a emulação do Hyper Neo Geo 64 ainda é precária no Mame, com vários erros no som e gráficos. Também queria muito emular essa placa pra jogar Samurai Shodown 64

Nope.

The games were not bad they just were not revolutionary. The Graphics by this time seem aged. When you compare The Hyper Neo Geo 64 to Sega's Model 3, it sores in comparison. This game compare to Sega Rally 2 and Daytona USA 2 doesn't even top it. Virtua Fighter 3 was more impressive then Samurai Shodown 64.
