@@greadyknight I only got 4 out of 5 from the most recent Kulve siege. Sadge. Missing a water Kjarr CB, but at least water's usually the least useful element in Monhun.

Defender was put in as a catch up mechanic to rush to iceborn. Im a tomato guy too here.

Defender armor just sucks. Its only benefit is the mssive defense. The defender weapons are too good to pass up. Especially if you wanna mess around with savage axe. White sharpness is the longest. You only go to diablos cuz it has higher raw with the negative affinity detriment. Imo Rise progression is better cuz you can run element phial and outpace every impact phial in the game, post 10.0.3.

@@greadyknight No, I mean that the defender armor was added with he release of Iceborn. I am including the weapons in what I consider boardering on cheater weapons. Base game weapons all had trade offs, and if you use defender weapons I feel that people would be missing out on trying weapons at a stage of the game when that is more possible.

I dont agree with experimenting with weapons on the climb to endgame. its an inefficient way to play. The purpose of a progression guide is to get the best pieces for a runthrough of the game and then once you hit endgame you can experiment with fully kitted out alternate builds like element phial or sleep builds. You also minimize the amount of materials and zenny wasted on subpar sidegrades that could be spent on optimal upgrades or just stockpiled mats for iceborne. Also, If it wasnt defender weapons, it would be one of the other weapons being used. Ie the one with the next best stats.

i hope there is one for switch axe

Main reason is dps. you do like 80 per saed phial on the last set. Also its the non boring answer to actually use progression gear instead of defender.

Noone is arguing that its not the best, if you recommend this to beginner they will utterly fail when they can't rely on tanking everything. I mean you might as well cheat and give yourself infinite health and say Cheat Engine is the best armor in the game at that point.

Thats why for the progression, I dump the armor as early as low rank in favor of dps sets. It teaches the noob to not rely on armor and learn fundamentals. Both for charge blade and what to look for in a set. Ie artillery attack up, guard , capacity boost. The weapon on the other hand teaches the noob to pick the best statted weapons. Instead of having them waste mats and zenny on inferior options, they run through as a progression should: using minimal weapons with optimal stats for the run at each rank. Currently making the master rank progression vid and it has a total of 2 weapon changes by the time you reach the final boss. Element phials and brachy are entirely optional for the run cuz you have to backtrack and refarm high rank mons on the road to the respective final forms. That is time better spent just chugging through to endgame.
