    That was great, bringing back lots of memories. I was in the Cadets from 1980 to 1984. I did summer camp three times, Air Studies (1981), Glider Pilot (1982), Power Pilot (1983), and then worked on ground crew my last year at the Greenwood, Nova Scotia Glider School. I also did Air Studies and Glider Pilot training there and did Power Pilot at Moncton Airport, the Moncton Flying Club. Meet a lot of great people, made some good friends, and had a great time. The Cadets is a wonderful organization and I highly recommend it for all teens.

    Air Cadets awarded me a flying scholarship in 1971 and I have made aviation my career from light aircraft to Boeing 777 (current). This group gave me a piece of an important foundation that provided skills and opened doors that otherwise would not have been available. Excellent video that reflects well on the Air Cadet League of Canada. Congratulations to Rick Mercer and for heavens sake, someone send him a red knob!

  • @Miaset1
    @Miaset111 жыл бұрын

    Well done, Mr Mercer! The Cadet program is one of the best (if not the best) youth programs around. We are proud of these young men and women. It's rather amazing to think that because they haven't qualified for driver's license, a parent or Officer must drive the Cadet to the air field so they can get in a plane and fly. How wonderful is that, sir? Glad you enjoyed the ride. Capt T Parker

PQ & Baden Soelingen, Germany, during 7 & a half yrs in Sim, I must say - the glider flight as a passenger like Rick had was one of the highlights of my life! I also had 3.5 hrs in the real F-18 w/ in-flight refueling, I bungy jumped a 179 ft crane over land in Paris as the Concord took-off, flew a SeaKing, sailed on HMCS Preserver, swam in the middle of the Atlantic. Now I'm just bragging... :)

    LOL the downside to flying commercial is you can't do any fun things in the air.... some passengers wouldn't like the idea... some of us would though. Landing in a thunder storm in Wpg was fun (when I was a cadet). That was in a 727, it got a little light in the plane when we were coming in. Taking off out of Regina last summer was fun to (737) won't say short field take off, The look on my son's face was priceless.
