Thank you for subbing! The tape mod would generally "compress" the sound and make it lower pitch and quieter in my experience. If this is your goal with acoustics, then definitely do it :D

Do you really like this keyboard for gaming and such? Also how do you feel about the milky yellows factory lubed? I am doing this same mod but I wont lubbing the switches as this will be my first keyboard mod so I just want to focus on modding the board for now

Hi there! Yes, it's one of my favorite budget keyboards for gaming/productivity. The Milky Yellows are fine unlubed. They are smooth but with a slighty scratchy sound. Go for PE foam and tape mod to improve the overall sound :)

I had this question a while ago as well, and was afraid to tape mod my rk84(even though it sounded much better after), but it's been over half a year since I put the tape on, and nothing happened (I use it wired now though), so I think it's safe.

Hi there! Go for the pe foam mod and tape mod. Use several layers of tape. You can try 5 layers for that thock sound

I love how this sounds! This is gonna sound silly but I've never modded before and would love to work with the PE foam but would want to wait. Would the switches be damaged or have issues if I were to replace them with the same switches you've used but not change the mod until later?

Thank you! The switches on your RK84 won't be damaged when you remove and replace them with the Milky Yellow switches. You can do the PE foam mod later on to further improve the sound and typing experience :)

is the pe foam thin? i am confused as to how you just placed the switch without poking holes in the foam first. don't the contact plate bend if u do it that way

The PE foam is thin enough the pins will just poke through. No need to poke holes beforehand. The one I use is 0.5mm

is there a way to mod this kb skipping this step 2:41? i mean does it still sound good if i avoid cutting that piece? thx!

i need this keyboard for typing, so my choice is Brown. its good to know when the press is registered (tactile). but my WASD are Milky Yellow and Arrow keys are Clear Yellow. (factory lubed) SHIFT and Backspace are Red SPACE is Black.

Hi! I find it at a good balance with weight and speed. The bottom out force of 62g is just right for my typing preference.
