I love my R1S as well, and with the supercharger network now open its even better. I do somehow grapple with the notion of whether or not this thing is too big. The largest vehicle I ever drove before this was a Toyota Highlander and previously I owned a Model Y so this is a bit of a change but overall it's a great car!

I definitely agree. Almost 6 months in now and it still makes me happy to jump in and drive. The size is definitely a challenge, even coming from another 3 row SUV, but the drive characteristics and features make it worth it to me. I hope to do an update video soon with more of the ownership story.

As for your wifes comments about it being high, you should definitely add running boards. They are a game changer for anyone shorter or with mobility issues like grandparents, especially.

Has the glass roof been an issue for you and the family? Does it get hot inside in the Summers?

As a shareholder, I want to thank all the posters who have bought or about to buy a Rivian vehicle. Rivian needs all the help it can get. Rivian is losing $1.5 bill/qtr Rivian may go bankrupt in another two years If not for generous buyers willing to take the risk, Rivian has no chance of making it

I'm not incredibly worried about Rivian's future. I wish they had more cash on hand and were making higher margins, but the product is fantastic and they have a path to profit. R2 will be huge for them.

Rivian as a company has to do their part, and reduce production cost dramatically, and ramp up production at a much better cost as to improve their margins.

@@guccisashaThey are actively working on this. Costs have already come down significantly from the initial R1T launch, the RDV is profitable, and they have announced a factory shut down and retooling to reduce costs this year. The refresh that is rumored for the R1 in 2024 will also reduce cost per vehicle and increase production speed. They definitely seem acutely aware of the need to do so and have plans, but time will tell if it is enough.

Love my R1S great vehicle
Would you recommend for a single person? Tesla's suck and there are no real utility EVs out there.

It's a pretty big vehicle unless you have a family of 4+. You'd definitely enjoy it and there are plenty of people who have one just for themselves. I agree there aren't nearly enough EV options currently. The Rivian is definitely my top choice for an electric SUV, but the price is high and it's a lot. You might want to consider an Ioniq5 or even the refreshed 2024 Mustang MachE unless you really need the extra space. For a true SUV, it's basically the Kia EV9 or something pricier like the R1S or BMW or Mercedes. Of those, I'd definitely recommend the Rivian.
