This is how you make a sequel. Take everything good about the original, and just add more cool stuff to it. More moves, more characters, new areas to explore, etc. I know some people always gripe about "reusing assets." But when assets look perfectly fine and are still perfectly usable, then why not reuse them? It cuts costs, saves time, and lets developers focus on creating completely new mechanics instead or rehashing old stuff.

The whole "reused assets" issue has been ignorant before it started. There is Quake and Doom Coding in most first person shooters. That doesn't make them bad games, optimized is a better term. Redesigning games is why the Metroid series took forever to see a brand new installment. That's not a bad thing either, but if folks want games relatively within their livespans, then folks need to be patient and understanding of the process.

But i wanted better graphics than pixelate assets. If they looks like in movies then it will be ok. More stuff etc - i agree.

@@msu7777 everyone wants "bETteR grApHiCs" but a game doesn't need better graphics for it to be better. Good graphics isn't the core of a game. It's the gameplay and how fun it is. What good are graphics if all you get is cyberpunk levels of glitches and just no fun at all?

@@msu7777 It's the artstyle they chose for it. So you either take it or leave it. Also Super Mario Maker 2 is an extremely bad example considering 80% of the game uses SMB to SMW graphics while only 20% are the graphics of New Super Mario Bros.

The first one was such a banger. The Art, animation and music were all on point. Lot of fun too.

I just bought the first game and I absolutely adore it. The characters are so awesome and the combat is great (a bit mashy, but it's nice to just turn your brain off and go mad on enemies for a while).

That little tease of Megan McDuffee's music brings me life. I can't wait to play this one

this trailer got me interested on river city girls as a whole. definitely heard of this series before but never looked into it as i'm not all too interested on beat em ups but the music and art direction in this teaser got me hooked. been listening to some songs from the first game's ost and now i will try to pick the first one up and hopefully get this sequel on its launch too!

@@Orangekid65 Ha, unfortunately WF already said this was pushed back past the planned Summer release. It's now planned to be released before the end of this year. In fact, Arc announced that the Japanese release will be Dec 1st.

@@Orangekid65 Well, Japan does. Arc publishes the game in Japan and they plan on making the digital and physical versions release on the same day. However, WayForward is the game's publisher for North America and Europe; They've stated that since the digital and physical versions aren't planned for a simultaneous release, that they can make the digital release more fluid. That's why they haven't made anything concrete yet.

I loved everything about the first game except for the ending. The ending felt like a complete middle finger to the events of Kunio-tachi No Banka on the SNES which is getting localized as River City Girls Zero.

OMG I LOVED THE FIRST GAME THIS IS SO HYPEEEEE!!!!

My biggest complaints were the lack of online and some of the hit detection felt off. It looks like they are addressing both, and I still liked the 1st one anyway. Probably a day 1.

I just hope this gets a normal physical release and isn’t limited. The first game is fantastic.

The first one was out day one with a physical in Japan and Korea (with English and other languages) and can still be found on playasia. I’m assuming it will be the same with this one.

Barely a second shown of the one character with a darker complexion than the others 😵

Looking forward to this game and River City Girls Zero. Gonna buy them both physically from Limited Run Games when they become available.

It's from the Original Soundtrack of the game. Sadly, you'll have to wait until Summer 2022 to be able to hear the whole OST on it's complete form, but believe me, they wait will be worth it. While that happens, I highly recommend you to give a listen (or even play) River City Girls 1
