I've been delusional for 4 years, hearing voices, hearing talking around me when nobody is there talking, hearing electronics talking to me. Every day while walking outside a car will drive past and I will hear hallucinations talking to me behind the vehicle noise. I was clueless on what was going on until i went to a mental hospital. This medicine is potent. I've been on this medication for a week and the hallucinations have gone away. I don't know how well it will work long term, but I think now I'll be able to be a functional member of society. I definitely wasn't before.

Please be careful I was on the tablet of Risperdal for two years and I was on 3mg. I started having chest pains and couldn't figure out why it felt like a heart attack when I went too the emergency room. The doctor told me it was anxiety after he took a chest xray and did an ekg on my heart. The chest pain continued getting worse and worse and I also gained 40 pounds mostly inn my butt and chest. I am a young man so I should not have girl boobs and butt then I found out weight gain is a side effect so I quit taking it last June. I met someone yesterday who son also took Risperdal but he took the injection and he had the same chest pain and the hospital told him it was anxiety well he died of blood clots in his lungs a month ago he was healthy 25 year old. When I heard this from the greived mother I couldn't believe it I am very lucky too be alive when I was on the same meds and had the same chest pain. It's been 3 months the chest pain is slowly fading away but not gone yet completely and I can pee again which longterm use of Risperdal made it impossible too pee. So I wish you the best please research the side effects and if your lungs hurt or your heart beats in weird way please don't let the doctors dismiss it. Right now I am on olanzapine now but it has similar side effects but is much less powerful at first the voices were bad and hallucinations but then they slowly went away and I feel better than I have in years. And I have shizoeffective disorder so schizophrenia and bi polar one combined. I really hope this comment helps you and you are on the look out for any possible side effects.

I’m on this medication. It causes weight gain but I find if I work out a lot the fat turns to muscle. You can be on this and still have a good life

i wish everyone the best , the first thing i noticed was the turning feeling i carried in my heart dissapated, my thoughts becoming clearer and all the traffic in my head subsiding. If you treat this early you can almost pin point when it started, for me it was stress and cough syrup that triggered my psychosis risperidone has helped me alot so far giving me space to think about what this thing actually is. im on 2mg hopefully no higher and i have very low schizophrenia and am single✌🏽🤗

I have schizophrenia for 3 years. I’m a Muslim and over time, getting closer to God has been making me to cope it well. Listening the Holy Quran and reciting Surah Al-Baqarah (words of God), doing my daily prayers and keeping my spiritual health in check has made me able to manage it well. Also I try to keep my physical health in check as well by going to the gym, working out, go for runs etc. Although some days, I can still hear voices that other people can’t, especially when I’m in loud places or loud white noises (like turning on the vacuum or engine for e.g). I contemplated to visit the Psychiatrist for awhile, but finally did today. I was prescribed with Risperidone 1mg today by my psychiatrist. After reading the comments I’m scared to take it. But I will take it tonight and see how it goes and maybe start at 0.5mg.. I take risperidone for schizophrenia. 1mg wasn't enough for me. I take 2mg in the morning and at night and the voices are completely gone.

If you're still hearing voices after a month ask to up the dose to 2mg.

Sorry to hear of all the negative experiences out there. But I've been on .5 then 1mg once a day for about three months. Wasn't diagnosed with autism, but prescribed for my anxiety, paranoia, delusions and I for one really have no complaints. No side effects, and a big improvement In my symptoms, though not totally out of the water, I'm alot calmer in certain situations, I don't think my food is being poisoned, and I don't think the world can hear me think anymore. So idk. Sucks it has such bad effects for alot of people. But I'd say it works for me!

I’ve been on risperidone for a year, I reached out to a mental health doctor and worked with him for an entire year to get on the right med regiment. I take 1mg of risperidone in the morning, and 1 mg of risperidone a night. Here’s what I noticed; it makes me extremely tired no matter what situation I am in. (driving, working, or at home on my days off). I’ve slept in my car on the side of the road, and I’ve slept through very important things I needed to stay up for. It does keep me calm though. My mood swings are a lot less, or practically gone. The side effects I have had that are annoying are: I’ve gained a ton of weight. I was 140 pounds, now I’m almost to 190 lbs. That is an insane weight gain…. And I can’t lose it no matter what I try. Another side effect I get, is that I can’t breathe sometimes through my nose. If I accidentally miss taking it, my anxiety and mood goes through the roof, and my body has a hard time handling itself without the med. My heart will race and get shakey.

@Nicole Misner Maybe you can talk to your doctor my son had the same side effect of being really tired all day when he was taking it twice a day but eversince his dr. changed it from .5mg twice a day to 1 mg every night thats has really helped.

Someone please talk to me. I was falsely diagnosed, and yeah, I know how it sounds coming from someone in the comments under this video, but I'm now brain damaged and / or have been given a chemical lobotomy. I now have confusion, numbness of brain, misspelling, bad memory, and nonsensical dreams. I smelled burnt after my 5th dose. They said I would never be able to leave if I didn't take the pill. I came for anxiety and was called schizophrenic and aggressive.

Just had 0 .5 @ one night and next day was nervous, anxious and fearful. I stopped without informing doctor. But now again started with his adivice. Again next day onwards I am having terrible issues at morning. Continues in synch with doctor. I don't know what will happen

I was on respiridone 4mg at night and 2mg in the morning Iv got bipolar but after a while I was hit with several side effects, they decided to cut down because of high prolactin levels and weight gain and confusion and many more but now the doctors told me to cut down to 4mg to 3mg to 2mg and the morning was cut to 1mg and then 0mg In the morning, after 2 weeks the night time will be 2mg to 1 mg and then finally to 0mg, I once fell asleep and didn't take my medications and once ran out and I had the worse anxiety and panic attack, this stuff is deadly

people don't realize just how bad my symptoms are when i'm not on medication. i walk around and voices everywhere are talking to me. bombarded with voices. every car that drives past is shouting something, etc. it's affective at removing hallucinations. i take 2mg morning and at night. The side effects go away. I had extreme fatigue.

Would you recommend for insomnia. Eight months of 3-4 hours of sleep due to a health issue. Initially, my gall bladder failed and I lost a28 lbs in 41 days while drs diagnosed. My cortisol curve was reversed. Recently, it’s been a result of high dose steroids that gave me high estrogen and low testosterone. Sleep went from 5 plus hours to 3-4. I’m using a protocol to balance the hormones but thus can take a couple of weeks .

Absolutely not I was on Risperdal longterm and for the first year no side effects then boom I was gaining weight like crazy and had chest pains and all sorts of problems. There is too much risk with Risperdal for it too be beneficial I know someone who died from blood clots in his lungs and he was on the injection of Risperdal and he had the same side effects as me chest pain Weight gain.

I take them because I hear voices. I take 2mg in the morning and 2mg at night. The voices are completely gone. But they don't work immediately. They take up to a month to work. You have to be patient.

Yes it is safe because it is the lowest possible amount you can take. It works for my anger issues wonderfully. What I’m worried about though is how it keeps me calm…. It’s like the med purposely makes me tired, which results in calmness.
