Risking Death, I Dig Out an Abandoned Mine and You Won't Believe What I Found

Sometimes you just have to dig to find the good stuff even if that means coming face to face with a couple of skunks. Sliding under tons of rock reveals never before seen artifacts and was well worth the risk.

Abandoned & Forgotten Places
Documenting abandoned mines like never before!
Let's take abandoned mine exploring to the next level!
With your support you can help make this the best abandoned mine exploring channel on KZread!
Shot entirely in 4K! ...so, turn up those video settings!
On this channel we go deep... REALLY DEEP into abandoned mines and tunnels all throughout the western United States. We researched some of the harder to find mines and hiked or 4x4 back into them to explore and reveal their hidden secrets. Many of these remote locations are filled with cool artifacts, antiques and unique geology that will have you guessing as to why the old prospectors worked so hard to find gold, silver, and other minerals.
A&FP moves just a bit slower as compared to other mine exploring channels. Gly discusses why the miners chose these sites and he points out the geology and minerals that got them excited. Veins of quartz filled with gold and silver made many men lose sleep in the 1800’s and early 1900’s and modern prospecting still does to this very day.
DANGERS? Oh yes, there’s allot of dangers associated with old mines. Un-exploded dynamite, blasting caps, bad air, bats, spiders, and snakes all find their home in abandoned mine shafts and tunnels. Oh, and let’s not forget rotting timbers, flooded passages and collapsing rock!
Gly takes abandoned mine exploring seriously with all the proper safety equipment, training, and experience necessary to do this activity as safe as possible but that doesn’t mean we can’t have a bit of fun along the way. “Gly”, your host and his band of crazy characters “Old Bob” (Gly’s Jeep), “Quackers” (Gly’s duck) and “Bobbie” (Gly’s hula girl) are sure to brighten your day with their comments and silly antics. Heck, they may even give you a chuckle or two.
Just like Saturday morning cartoons before the internet was invented, Abandoned and Forgotten Places uploads each Saturday at 7:00AM PST. (that’s 10:00AM for you eastern folks) so don’t forget to click that subscribe button and bell icon to receive notifications of new episodes!
Please LIKE, SHARE, SUBSCRIBE and COMMENT! All these things help grow our channel and your financial support helps us find new locations and helps put fuel into “Old Bobs” tank. Old Bob, thanks you!
Ok, now for the ugly stuff...
WARNING

Going back through old videos and catching up, I have to say that this mine looks to be one of the best preserved that I have seen you go into. As said in other comments, given the amount of artifacts at the top of that shaft, I can only imagine what is down at the bottom. Personally I think it would be worth it to get a small group of people together to go in and try to clear and reinforce that passage so that you can finish exploring. The mystery of that shaft would haunt me every day until I was able to get down there.

I have a fascination of exploring old gold/silver mines, but would only get myself into deep do do. Not to mention I would never have the courage to actually enter an old decrepit mine. After finding and subscribing to your channel I get to experience first hand what I would do in my dream hobby. I cannot tell you how much I enjoy your trips. I have so much respect for how much knowledge and experience you have and it really is a pleasure knowing that you have such a nack for exploring really dangerous mines, but at the same time totally in charge. Lastly your production is top notch, from the camera work to your humorous vocalizations makes for an excellent and enjoyable experience. I really hope you got to explore the area better. There is interesting stuff all over that place. In fact, that area that the mine is in has all kinds of old workings all over the place. Our miner friend stopped by the other day, and told us he's gonna be selling his claims, and we are thinking of buying a few. 😊 And unfortunately, he also told us the man that owned this mine passed about a month or 2 ago. My husband was friends with him. He was a good man with extensive knowledge of the mining industry. He used to get called all over the world to tell people how to set up their operations and where to mine. He was good at what he did. RIP sir. And I would never say the name of this mine....I love this place and we go out here as a family just to relax and I spend hours and hours picking through that waste rock. lol. It is amazing country and I'm glad I get to live in this amazing area. There are lots of goodies hiding all over the area.

I really do hope ya'll can return to this mine, because that vertical shaft with the big bucket at the top just got me so excited! It looked like a really interesting mine shaft that no one has been down into for a long, long time! With that being said though, all the right equipment and safety stuff would be 1000x better to have when you do! Great video, love Mr. M and some of his sayings! haha :)

Great video. It had everything. 1 wild boar poop. 2 skunks 3 cave ins 4 cool old machinery 5 the line about the ladder being a death trap. I'm no expert, but my opinion is that the whole mine is a death trap. Good job, and stay safe.

Yeah another excellent episode. Hey I'm starting to get worried about all those sketchy ladders you risk climbing on. Sooner or later a rung will give out. Have you though of some fall arrest gear with a retractable line. We use them at work for long accent/decent tower ladders. If you slip it instantly halts your fall. Easy to set up with a little rigging. I know more stuff to haul around but I'm just thinking of your safety. Thanks again for another fun episode.
