Lolol i litteraly read this as he was saying it. Well played. Altho i do not agree with that leaving europe is the move by blue at that time. I would break green and read and ally with purple. This forces red back that in turn forced green to be more aware of red. Just do tit for tat and euri turtle and see if yellow commes in and does hes part if yes id have to leave .Smart or bad?
First they came for blue, and I did nothing because I was not them. Then they came for purple, and I did nothing because I was not in North America Then they came for me, and as I looked around for help, there was noone left to save me. - Yellow Probably
A multiplayer game that has the potential to run several hours like this does needs to come up with a means to incorporate bathroom breaks into the play, either have scheduled 5 minute breaks once an hour that can be skipped/shortened if all players left agree, or give players the option to request a break that can be taken if all players agree.

Yeah, I have played Risk games in real life that lasted 4-6 hours. That is what happens when the players are evenly matched skill-wise. I am a progressive player myself. I have never really understood why the fixed system has taken off. Albert knew what he was doing when he created the card system; it was designed to help resolve the game faster when it got down to the last three players.

@@suicidaleuphoria7012 real life isn't so bad, for getting bathroom breaks though, turns take longer in real life so the likelihood is you'll be back before it's your turn to act and most reasonable people will wait a minute or two if they know you've gone for a piss it's not like they can bot you out in real life and they know where you are and what you're doing it's not like online where for all we know the person that's been timed out is just having to deal with something irl that will take a half a minute to resolve or if they are in the middle of dealing with a full on domestic problem. The only reason I'm currently focused on fixed is I feel that the overall standard of play in fixed is currently higher so I want to play in the more challenging games. I think progressive will become more popular and we'll see a shift in the increase in competition eventually once people realize the games are quicker and currently easier.

I really like the way the yellow player was playing. He manipulates you (and probably all other players) to do dirty work for him the whole game. The way he manipulated you to clear him a way that 3 stacks in the early game and then betrayed you and staing in SA was pretty great move (from his perspective of course). He took an advantage of getting Aus early and tried to block everyone else on their bonuses. His mistake was playing too mathematically - he should be more diplomatic in human-way and avoid annoying other players :D
Peacemaker here, I just stumbled across this video. It was really a fun round and congrats to the winner! And well done on the channel growth, i remember you used to have less than 100 sub, keep it up pete!

I was surprised you played so aggressively eventually when you had such a comfy position, but in a game this long almost anyone will run out of patience. I like to think Pete could have won this endgame after Orange took out Purple, but it would have extended the game by a lot and it would have been a way more chaotic end game. Also hard to know what orange would do if the game went on if orange would implode against Pete. Though orange could have imploded against anyone IMO Tigeress giving them access to south America maybe they respected the move.

@@dstreetz91 if i remember correctly at that time it was like 2 am in my country and I had to go to sleep. And the past contest final lasted for more than 10 hours and it seemed like if no one got aggressive our final would have lasted the same. So I said I would try to break the stalemate by getting aggressive which would hopefully lead to everyone getting aggressive and a faster game, and when no one else got aggressive I left the game.
I didn’t expect to be this invested in this game, but I watched the whole dang thing. Was really fun to watch every person at the board play so well as the game developed in very intriguing ways.

Just finished watching all of this over the course of a few days. What a wild ride. I'm sort of glad that it ended the way it did. Peacemaker was way too obvious and I think everyone just about had enough of them: no one likes to feel that they're being manipulated. I was rooting for vanman to actually win because he had no continent for the longest time and still managed to pull ahead to first place. If Reid wasn't so passive I think Tigress would have lost. It didn't feel like Reid was playing to win at all, just come in second. Either way, I think you played very well and I really enjoyed the commentary and you describing your thought process throughout the game. Thanks.
It was tough to watch, as neutral as I want to be, an attack on you feels like an attack on me and I felt as invested as you. So pleased you were up to playing for the win to the very end and got a well deserved second place. Can't wait to find the next exciting game.

I know this is an old tournament, but Reid honestly did incredible, even with his defeats in areas like Europe he managed to take and hold a continent, even if it was extremely RISKy, it's really nice he managed to last as long as he did, especially with how bad the game seemed for him at times.

I dislike that style of play but I have to respect it. A lot of people come into the community with ideas about what is correct or incorrect, right or wrong. I think in Reid's seat I would have eventually broken and made enemies either with myself or Msti if for no other reason then to force some action. Vanman knocking him out for 4th is understandable from my position because it guaranteed Vanman a championship role and Reid was as much the impetus for nothing happening as anyone else.

(from purple's perspective because I thought he was purple because purple is holding SA and Pete was holding it previously) Sometime around 4:48:32 I would have pressured green by taking North-West Africa and fortifying it with 50 troops (and moving the 100 troops from Venezuela to Brazil). He will have to relocate his biggest chunk of troops to retake it and neither he nor red will dare to attack you. However, it will give orange the breathing space to kill yellow. One less player.

I tried to get purple to push into Africa over and over. Especially those times when Green was broken and purple could have gained a foothold in Asia
The balance of power in this was insane Mr. Peacemaker's strategies were really interesting I found. I once remember doing a similar thing he did in the early game by using an early Australia game and blocking other people from getting their territory bonuses. While mathematically it is a great strategy it usually fails in the mental aspect of the game as you just make enemies who will typically favour another person over you as an ally, or you even may be suicided on just to prove a point to not block someone from their territory bonus - something you almost did yourself (and rightfully so). Great game for sure

Just curious, but in the early game when yellow was still in your South American territory, would it have been of any benefit to suicide some (2 or 3) into their army as a way of sending a message or being more threatening than otherwise? Also, I really enjoy the long videos, it's like reading a long book that you can get fully engrossed and invested in.
Vanman had the option of killing the bot without losing the lead or possibly tieing with 2nd since he had 100+ troops more than the 2nd place, but chose not to, thus giving his europe bonus away and slowly losing his advantage. That didn't really make sense to me.

Possibly. I also looked at the stream chat after the fact and it was suggested I could have allowed the bot into NA and then it would have reinforced out. Both moves seem riskier to me than the one I did and since I was in last place of the players remaining I really didn't want to get too cavalier with my moves. Losing one of my defensive stacks would have ended my game there.

Long weekend tournaments would end up with me having sore leg muscles from tension -- we're talking about a LOT of concentration for MANY hours by someone who got intense about mental challenges, like making straight A's in college, etc. So I think you're exactly right about the mind body balance thing. Under normal circumstances that would have made sense. But Orange showed no interest in communicating with me for the entirety of the game. They never responded to my alliance requests in any way. Neither positive nor negative. They also just showed the willingness to suicide into a player by destroying Purple how and when they did. Thanks Pandar!
Pete. Could you have won if you wanted to? Looking back when you accepted 2nd?

Could have? Maybe. Really tough to say. Once Vanman made his play he needed me to work with him. But how can I? He didn't accept my alliance request. So it's the devil you know vs the devil you don't. And he just suicided. So putting all that into my decision-making matrix I had to trust that someone who just suicided and can't talk to wouldn't suicide into me to risk getting third or playing to win vs what I ended up doing and take a guaranteed second.
