For all the negative comments: this band is legit to the core. They are very interested in social justice issues. They buy or are gifted clothes and jewelry from artists. They bring speakers to their concerts from the local communities they are touring in. They do permaculture work. They incorporate all different styles of music. Cultural appropriation only exists if a person doesn't actually care about supporting other cultures and literally helping said culture. These sisters probably have done way more to help, even just raising awareness, than any of you. I have seen them live twice and not only are they amazing musicians but amazing people.

That's if you even believe that "cultural appropriation" is a thing, which I don't. No culture ever devised by humans is totally original; every culture that was or is has borrowed elements from other cultures. No society just creates an entire culture _ex nihilo._

This kind of music makes me miss the Rainbow Gathering. Only went once in 2011, my cousin and I picked up a hitchhiker and he was headed there. We had never heard of it before, but we ended up staying there a few days. And man those were some of the best days of my life :)

These women are amazing in so many ways. Anyone who has negative issues with these songs should probably take a deeper look inside of themselves and discover the judgmental demons that are very obviously afflicting your soul. These ladies have NOTHING but pure and beautiful intentions. Take your hate and bury it. These women can't be touched by you. All you are doing is creating negative energy that lodges itself in your psyche. This music, cleanses that type of energy for me. So much love.

Blending of cultures is a beautiful thing, and when we blend cultures we wind up with amazing results. Our whole existence to this point in time is all due to the blending and borrowing of ideas. As a visual artist who has had extensive education on art history we learn that replicating is a form of flattery (as long as it is not done in a hateful way). Fill your hearts with love sisters and be proud of the music you bring to this world so full of pop nonsense which markets sex instead of talent

Your blessing does not absolve them of the sin of cultural appropriation. Native Americans killed their neighbor tribes, raped their women, and enslaved their enemy tribesmen. Did the white man fail to live up to treaties? Yes. Was the native American culture inevitably doomed to extinction? Yes. Move on. Embrace the best of the native Americans and the Europeans. You'll find the debt to Europeans runs deep, wide, and enduring.

Everyone has a right to connect with Nature. And to be the self and have space for ones self. Our connection to our ancestors and your ancestral land is key to having a well rounded human existence

  • @futurecaredesign

@Tyrone Biggs You can connect with nature on many levels. One way is to connect with yourself, you are nature are you not? Another way to connect with nature is to connect with the world around you, the birds in the city have just as much to say as the birds in the woods. Another way is to connect with the people around you. They are your most valuable connection to your community and without them, you won't survive. Another way is to find out more about your ancestors. They were part of nature, and through their actions you can actually call yourself alive. Another way is to encourage your children to be in nature, be their nature guide and see how quickly you start to feel that sense of belonging. Another way is to be grateful for the little things in life. The water you drink, the food you eat, the sunrise, the squirrel that nests outside your home. You don't need cheap piercings, hemp clothing and tattoos. But it does help ^_^

@Tyrone Biggs I make my own jewelry and beads and find feathers etc. Tattoos are there for telling a story in my opinion. As for connecting with nature you don't need any of that. In fact I prefer to be naked when soaking up the sacred.

Never fails, someone has something negative to say or add to some else's creative endeavors. Just digging, searching, hunting, scrutinizing to find some fault or shortcoming, something they feel doesn't quite measure up. Look inward first, scrutinize self...you won't have time to move on due to the amount of work needed at home. These two ladies are creative talents and are enjoyed tremendously by people who appreciate talent, activism, and art. I love their work/music/contributions.

I feel the same. Their music changed my life and in doing so I have been able to change the lives of those around me by helping to guide them towards a new kind of life in which we can find rest and fullfillment. No more chasing rainbows or love stories that each lead only to a more a dismal ending than the one before. Fullfillment can only be found within our own minds by nurturing ourselves, eachother and our beautiful earth. I found the true meaning of love, in acts of kindness and open minded creativity that flows like the waters of the deep.

I live in central europe, I am as white as you can imagine. My ancestors were regular people, workers, farmers. But even if they were nobelty - what difference does it make? How can I be responsible for the deeds of my ancestors. All I can do is to live the best life I can - with love for others. This music speaks to me. And I have the same right to be happy and passionate about the music as anyone, whatever his or hers race is. Your skin color doesn't make you any better or worse than me. If you cannot see the racism in excluding people only because of the color of their skin, then I'm sorry for you.
