“I Need A Forest Fire,” is our interpretation of a rich and righteous James Blake track. We have been big fans of his artistry and aural weavings for many years and wanted to do a folk rendition of this striking song. The texture of its sounds stretch far and wide in atmospheric rhythms as well as the lyrics and it took some deep digging to conceptualize what Blake was perhaps trying to say... Our interpretation is this:
“We live in a time of rapidly destructive (and so often man-made) wildfires in many parts of this planet. Singing a song that says "we need a wildfire" felt cautionary-but enticing, as we explored the many metaphors that "forest fire " could represent. We came to believe it is about the burning of the ego, the take down of destructive habits and destructive relationships, even destructive sides of self. In a time where everyone is on one side of the coin or the other, in a highly polarized nation, a burning symbolizes a great reset. A death and rebirth cycle. We hope you enjoy our take on this track as much as we have enjoyed stretching into its different sounds.”

I haven't listened close to or unpacked the lyrics yet for myself but first impression this gives me shivers and tears! Powerful. So great it is two blood sisters too, which adds a certain energy.🌲🔥

I've had them in heavy rotation for like 2 weeks after many years, just intuitively wanted to hear them again. And now suddenly new videos drop, i love it. I keep listening to Risilient and thinking about my daughters age group protesting at the colleges and seeing our freedom of speach to protest against genecide just being horribly misrepresented and how legislation to ban that right was so quickly drafted and yet it's only the young who seem to actually comprehend the implications of that. I've been wishing i could be there protecting those children who are holding onto the light for dear life as the ilusions are all lifting. I never thought I'd see the day that such things could be true here, but perhaps they have been all along and now we just get to see it. I've been in tears over it. The frequency these voices emit matches that of the students even if they have nothing to do with one another. It's something deep and stirring and needed.

I was wondering why... because seriously so many especially animals have lost so much. This is really disappointing. Especially since I know most wildfires are started by the usfs under the name of "controlled burns" . It's to kill the underbrush to help the lumber they sell grow faster. They are NOT controlled either. I have been there personally while they blow torched the whole forest and left it to burn unsupervised. Trees where exploding from the sap boiling inside of them. I really can't decide if this song is evil or ignorant . 😢
