Koba is actually a bonobo which are mostly non-violent apes. Which is extremely sad when you see how vicious he became from all those experiments.

@Easy Way Out well, there was a fan movie fact talking about Koba being bonobo. From what I heard, the bonobo species dont display much aggression and violence than chimp. For Koba to regress into such a state of violence and aggression, it must be reallyx2 bad.

I love how subtle this movie was at foreshadowing the sequels. The gas leak infects the doctor who becomes the patient zero for the Simian Flu which crippled the Earth in Dawn. Then the humans hated the Apes after the revolution, which caused Koba to start the War. Also Kona’s sheer hatred is foreshadowed when he kills Jacobs after watching Caeser spare him.

@@issacforman5069 no. The flu itself wasn’t on Caesar nor the other apes at the time. At the lab they were working on a cure for alzheimers called 112. They tested 112 on the chimps, including Caesar’s mother, whom both gained significant intelligence as a side effect. Will used the same cure for his dad who was suffering from the disease. It worked but only for a few years. So Will made another variant called 113, it was able to fend off anti bodies. He tried to test it on his dad, but he refused on his deathbed. Later on, 113 was being used extensively on the other apes because the CEO was impressed by the effects of 112. It made the apes even more intelligent. The scientist guy, Robert, was patient zero. He was drug testing on Koba, Koba reacted violently breached containers with the 113 drug and knocked off his mask which exposed him to it. Later on Robert sneezed on the pilot and died in his sleep at home. That’s how the pilot spreaded it to his passengers which caused the outbreak, and no doubt the paramedics had no clue what he died of so they and the hospital staff were probably infected as well. They all it the Simian Flu not because it was spreader by apes, but because it was being used on Apes and initiated during the Rise, they named it that instead.

Knowing that Kobas type of species belong to Bonobos the less aggressive ape species It really goes to show how damaged he is 😢😢😢

Kind of interesting though how the new antagonist for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, Proximus, is also a bonobo. A descendant or at least a follower of Koba, perhaps?

This is the turning point that made the next films possible, Caesar will never know that Koba was the one who infected the world with ALZ-113.

Not just chimps. Dogs, rabbits, mice, cats monkeys , rats etc . The list goes on and most of the world hasn't even banned cosmetics testing on animals and honestly I think one must truly lack empathy or humility if they think they can torture an innocent creature for curiosity .

Koba was the angel of death for the humanity, even at war

It always made me sad seeing a Cesar get bullied by the other apes. Especially because he had no real social skills or at least none with apes, and as such he’s just confused. He has no idea that they intend to beat him up and rip his clothes until after they do it.

I think it makes his rise to power even better, because he used both respect(for the big gorilla) and forcetfear(for the one that bullied him) to gain submission

It's interesting that Koba was remarkably calm during experiments since he'd been through so many at other labs. But as soon as his intelligence was increased and he was able to fully comprehend the horrific things that had been done to him, and direct that rage, he became the most violent of any of the apes.

I'm not entirely convinced he would've stayed nonviolent had it not been for the gas. I think Koba just knew how to placate humans (just enough) because they were the ones in control. He knew the horrendous capabilities of humans and wanted to beat them to the punch.

I think Koba was already able to comprehend what was done to him. He already showed signs of PTSD and chimps, with or without super human intelligence, have already been shown to be sentient. In fact while I hate animal testing period, I will say that even some scientists who are pro animal testing draw the line with great apes as they see it as too close to using humans and using apes has been banned in the UK for that reason.

I like how Cesar puts his hand out introducing himself but ended up learning very quietly that being friendly can’t always be the best way

If you really think about it, Koba started the whole apocalypse. He let the virus out by exposing that one guy, and that one guy exposed it to everybody else. 1:41

And to think Koba caused the events of both sequels: here, he spreads the virus to humans, leading the the events of the sequel, and in the second he starts a war with the humans, leading to the events of the third.

Theres something funny about the way he takes the cookie and goes back for another one XD

The beautiful part about this series of films is that the two major antagonists aren’t inherently evil. They have their own past experiences that conditioned them to believe what they were doing was for the greater good, and in a lot of ways both Koba and Col. McCullough were doing what they thought was best for the future of society. They make the best version of an antagonist; one that, when you analyze their reason for being, are not even villains.

I like # 2 best...still had OK human characters, but # 3? The story and plot were so broken and illogical. Tried to watch it twice, couldn't get through it. I find it just too dumb. So I guess even POTA suffered the sequel curse.

Clearly the only thing they had planned throughout the series were the relationships between Caesar/Koba, the Bonobo etc.., That and the "virus", but even that wasn't really explained all that well. All you see is the fat guy get sick and you sort of have to make the connection that guy killed the whole planet... while you're watching the second movie... I don't know. They really had a great vision for this first movie and then... something must have happened during the planning phases of the next two movies. They did not feel like direct, connected movies with each other.

For swallowed sedatives they give you at the hospital? Sure. But for ones intended to knock out or incapacitate animals or people? A second to 10 depending on what's used. When going under for surgery you cant even count to 5.
