What changed your mind was it the great integrity of Donald Trump?

These commentators are missing the true source of the problem. Latino voters who live near the boarder between, US states and Mexico, feel the negative impact of illegal immigration more than Americans living farther from the boarder. Even Democrats don't like massive migration in to their small boarder towns because of the economic and social impact that it has on their communities. When they notice Democratic politicians encouraging illegal immigration, they are willing to consider voting Republican in order to stop it.

Latinos are deeply Religious people.. I am a progressive black man but I think if the Republicans stopped their "Whites First" racial biases they would be winning these elections big with oue religious conservative blacks together with the Latinos. As a person that has lived in Europe (University) between 2010-2014 a large portion of US population is still very primitive when it comes to education, logic, rationality etc.. All you have to do is tell them "God, jesus, family, socialist, communism etc and that is them scared and into your clutches.. And the Republicans are good at that because a big section of US population still that closed off conservative attitude. @@elizandropedraza1286 Limits? Wouldn't a policy that makes sense and works be better than some arbitrary limit number somebody dreams up. Stopping qualified university graduates from coming because 25,000 low skilled people from country x are already here doesn't make sense. Base it on qualifications and need, something like Canada has done. No need to focus on some limit number. Immigrants are not 🐟 fish, cars or electronic parts. There were no limits on immigrants in the 1800s. Millions came from Ireland, Italy, Germany, Norway, Russia, China, everywhere. The economy grew because of that. Now its more about forgetting the contributions that immigrants make and just keeping others from eating the pie. They don't just eat pie. They make it. I've lived and worked in 9 countries and was an immigrants in 8 of those. I paid over $250,000 in taxes just to England and in just a few years. Other countries almost as much. I could do that because there were no immigration limits. Their immigration laws were based on qualifications and need for my skills and, in the EU, freedom of movement. I left England when they did their Brexit thing. Didn't want their money any more. And no more taxes for them either.

Republicans are the ones that want the guest worker program to stay broken. Agriculture, construction, oil, restaurant, and manufacturing industries are dominated by Republican owners. The majority of illegals arrive LEGALLY by airplane or bus then overstay their visas. The visas are meant to expire and are meant to be difficult to renew, this way their business can exploit them for more money. The Republicans have no intentions on fixing the immigration issue at all. Many of their political donors make millions off of illegal labor. We need a new political party to fix these issues.

I always considered myself a liberal progressive Democrat, but the last decade of living in Seattle has really made me consider voting Republican. The ultra progressive white people think I should feel oppressed, and that I need their help to succeed in life. I've been called racist because I didn't back the Latina candidate for the mayor of Seattle. Ironic, isn't it? I'm also transphobic according to them because I said I wouldn't date a transgender. And please don't get me started about the Latinx term that only 3% of Latinos use.

Latinos have been conservative for a very long time. It’s only been the youth that have had a democrat leaning. For one, many legal Hispanic immigrants despise illegals. My grandfather for example held severe disdain for illegals despite not even being able to speak English his whole life. Another belief Hispanics hold is in god. The church is so strong among Hispanics that if you show any sort of distrust or distance from it, it’s seen as taboo or immoral. This can be seen in the disgust that is held towards the lgbt community among Hispanics. I find it quite interesting to hear democrat leaders finally realizing the truth that Hispanics really are not their voter base. The only reason they have voted for them has been the faux idea that democrats are the party of minorities.

Most latino countries are democracies based on the US constitution and its principles, all of them have a separation of church and state and just like the lgbt, they will never be considered americans by anybody in this country. However, President Lyndon Johnson signed the Civil Rights bills into law the racist Democrats who had terrorized black people for Generations were outraged. The racist Democrats then began a massive migration to the Republican Party. Black people saw this mass migration of racist carrying their Confederate flags and white sheets becoming Republicans so they began to move in mass to the Democrat Party. People would have to be politically ignorant if they can't see that the Republican party is the party of highly motivated and well-armed racist white nationalist. The current trend is towards seeing Latino and Hispanic as invaders. You'll never be fully American in their minds no matter how long you've been here or what you have accomplished. I know these people and I've lived through their segregation. They don't want you here. The great influx of people from South of the Border started when Ronald Reagan issued the first Amnesty for illegals. Reagan was well aware that the black vote was solidly in the Democratic camp. Up until the Civil Rights moving black people had been conservative Republicans. After the Civil Rights Movement the racist Democrats were angry and began a mass migration to the Republican Party. Black people were not about to stand shoulder to shoulder with people who had terrorized them for Generations. So black people left the Republican party and began their Mass migration to the Democrat Party. Reagan issued the first amnesty for illegals to gain support from the Latino and Hispanic community. In doing so he lit a beacon for the whole world to see. It was from that point on people started to believe that if they could just get to America eventually they would be made citizens. That's when the Great influx started. When I was a kid in 60's and 70's there was no Spanish speaking people. When I first moved to the city the Latino Community was very small. After Ronald Reagan made his executive decision that's when the influx of illegals started. I'm glad to see them coming. I say give them a social security card and let them help us pay off this 31 trillion dollar government debt. We need the people. Let's get their children educated to become the next generation of carpenters, scientists, teachers, military officers, bricklayers, and road builders. China has more than a billion people and they're planning on eating our lunch. Latinos and Hispanics may be falling into the same category as Candice Owens. Republicans are glad to support people of color who will betray their own. It's just a very effective way for Satan to cover his tracks. Make no mistake about it the Republican party is moving towards racist white nationalism. Governor DeSantis spent over $600,000 pulling off his stunt in Martha's Vineyard. That's $12,000 each just for airfare. For a family of three that's $36,000 they could have started their lives in many places in this country. Dropping people off by the side of the road in front of the vice presidents headquarters is cruel. There is no Shelter from the environment, food, water, or public bathrooms within 2 miles of that location. The governor of Florida is considered a front-runner for the Republican Party. His dropping people off by the side of the road is his attempt to signal those in the party who think like he does. They will use Latinos and Hispanics to get power but they will eventually turn on you.

Honest, open hate is easy to deal with because it's usually based on ignorance and bigotry. These can be overcome with patience, understanding, and knowledge, basically finding common ground. But the benign racism of the Left is impossible to overcome. They truly believe that minorities cannot succeed in the US without the Left acting as white saviors and they've been taught this by their teachers and professors, so they're racism is based on "knowledge" and nothing can change their minds. It's sad, really.

The Cubans have much more in common with the Venezuelan immigrants, they both came to America from communist regimes. There are other South and Central American countries that produce asylum seekers. They do not necessarily support open borders for Mexicans, who do not live under a Communist regime although they do have the drug cartels to deal with. Puerto Ricans already are considered American citizens, in other words the Hispanic communities are not United, those fleeing communist regimes cannot return to their native country because they will face almost certain deaths. America has always offered asylum to those fleeing for their lives. Do not lump them all in one category the Latino vote, they like the Eastern Europeans who arrived here fleeing Stalin, the Italians fleeing poverty and Mussolini you're welcome if not was loving arms at least we didn't send them back.

I think what they are also missing is that immigration is not the only issue Hispanic voters are concerned about. Nobody has helped Latinos with amnesty or any sort of citizenship help so that’s a lost issue that doesn’t seal the deal to any party. Among Latinos in major cities the primary issues continue to be poverty, education, and staying alive despite not being able to afford healthcare, housing or food. Trade unions in the United States have seen their membership rise the fastest among Latinos, both citizens and immigrants, over the last thirty years. Latino immigrants revived the leftist tradition of May Day, International Workers Day, in 2005 after it was almost extinct since the 1950s. Latinos have led the vast majority of strikes in the United States over the last twenty years.

Here are one of the main reasons democrats are losing the Latino vote and it resonates in the conversation despite the hosts being Latina. In just 8 mins there is the assumption that Latinos are “brown” and should by default be in support of illegal immigration. Americans need to understand that Latinos are a range of ethnicities and separated by cultural differences. A Venezuelan escaping Maduro might not align with a Colombian who supported Petro. Someone from Argentina might not feel they share similarities nor ethnically ties with someone from Honduras. Not to mention that for many Latinos born in the US already second and third generation we don’t feel identified with immigrants and feel as American as any blanquito. A good point in this conversation though is the fact they pointed out that most Latinos whether immigrants or US born tend to align with some form of conservative values and may not be in favor of abortion, gender ideology, illegal immigration etc.

I remember reading or viewing a few years back someone from the Center for American Progress arguing that Democrats needed to support essentially unlimited immigration from Mexico and Central America because, if we did so, we would obtain the persistent political loyalty of the Latino community. I was skeptical of that idea then and this report is demonstrating the folly of the idea now. Latinos are an incredibly diverse group - as diverse as 'Europeans' - and many of them are receptive to the social mores of either the Catholic Church or Pentecostal religion. These are religions generally opposed to both reproductive rights and modern conceptions of sexual personhood, and hence opposed to the sexual mores emerging within a large segment of the contemporary Democratic base. The immigration issue is incredibly complicated, with few politicians addressing the implications on how it impacts the availability of affordable housing (with which...the more poor people you let in, the more you need it...) for preexisting Americans, etc. The migrant problem is a global problem - and I think Democrats need to do a better job educating Americans as to the nature of this problem.

Didn't some of the Latino people in the video say they were Evangelists? And from what I have observed since djt was president, the Evangelical church has been up front and center with the repubs- not practicing separation of church and state in their decisions. And, from what I understand of the long established law, 501(c)(3) the law prohibits political campaign activity by charities and churches; and there is a difference between advocating for a candidate and advocating for legislation.(Read for more indepth information) What is odd, is how there is little about djt that would seem to align with Evangelicals' values and beliefs, but it appears to be, they found the opportunity to further their beliefs by supporting djt, and his repub loyals-Evangelicals have been the religious group with the strongest views against abortion, even though there appears to be less support among evangelicals born in 1980 or later. And, by the repubs loyal to djt, decision to take away the women of America's choice, freedom to make their own individual decisions for their bodies, their lives is nothing short of Authoritarian/Dictator behavior. And, currently the women in Iran are standing up for their freedoms taken away by their Authoritarian leader. Russian women and men have been standing up for their freedoms taken away by putin, Authoritarian/Dictator leader. In N. Korea women and men standing up for their freedoms with their Dictator leader, China with their Authoritarian leader, Cuba with their Dictator leader, and on and on. And if ever, the American people made the mistake of allowing Authoritarian leadership it would take generations to right the wrong decision made. To be clear, it is not the Democratic Party taking away the American people's Freedoms, when they are against the Republicans decisions on Abortion, and the Republicans laws made for Voter suppression, and far further than just being a qualified voter, and the Republicans baning books, words, even words in the dictionary, and deciding certain parts of America's history will not be allowed in schools, and on an on. And, having a choice for Affordable Health care is definitely not a far left, or communist action. Helping the poor, no matter what color or religious belief is not fascist, communist-it is being humane- caring and showing compassion,having a heart for others, which is what the current Democratic party is all about-Freedoms and Democracy for all Americans. Yes, the American people should have been educated years ago on the necessity of taking in immigrants/migrants from other countries. Rather than, given information to instill fear and hate for those people as djt did. Numerous countries take in immigrants/migrants and do so in a far more organized manner and far less complaining from their country's men and women, than here in America. Here in America a large number of American's are so worried about the money it will take away from their needs and wants, when the immigrants often go right to work, taking jobs that the American people will not take because of the lower wages, or the type of work does not appeal to them, like pulling washing crops, in the hot sun/cold weather. Working in food processing plants, preparing a variety of foods for the tables of the American people's needs. Working as garbage men, cleaning a variety of dirty systems etc: etc: So, if we trust these people to handle our food, and other areas and they are making money, which a portion will go to taxes at some point, what is the problem with helping them, I don't understand. The only problem I can see is that the misinformation, conspiracy garbage generated has been the main problem why some of the Latinos may be voting for republicans, especially for the older generation who left their country to escape the Dictators, corruption in their countries, and even last election the repubs making it sound like the Democrats were the ones who would take away their freedoms. The younger generation of Latino's know better, they can see through the lies, conspiracy theories. And understand, that President Biden is working for ALL Americans, which they are, and included for certain. Maybe Biden does not get specific enough, and say for ALL Americans-Latino, Asian, Black, White, Brown, Indians, and all the rest-but that is what "ALL" means-and that includes ALL of djt supporters. Biden is focused on bringing ALL of the American people together, moving America into the future, healthier, more productive and in a Democracy, with our Freedoms!

This is an important subject and needs serious consideration. The idea that 'God', or the belief in 'God' sways the way that people vote is extraordinary to me, but clearly it is important to some groups of people.

Which is weird because as a Latina myself, our culture we carry over aspects of the All Mother Figure from our native ancestors. It's kind of well known that in the Latin community we revere the Virgin Mary arguably more than Jesus or God. So it's hypocritical when they say this is 'Gods'' country when the Virgin Mary is the more revered biblical figure in our culture.

The difference is that many Democrats don't kneel for donors, but every Republican does. The Republican party is full of grifters like the grifter-in-chief Trump.

People think because Lincoln a republican freeing black slaves put them as the party of freedom for slaves. Knowing the history, you'll understand that during those times the Democratic Party was known to be a white only party of privilege. What many don't know is at that time the Republican Party was supported by blacks because they were about treating everyone of color with care and wanted opportunity to be given to all. By the 1950's, the parties changed where Republicans started taking on racist values and Democrats became the party of freedom for all. During the 50's the new democratic president changed the values to support equality as the republican party no longer supported those values. Any Hispanic knowing that kind of history should understand being a republican today is against the values that allows them freedom and equality once they make it to the U.S. The republican party of today gives that negativity of white privilege a home. If you see how DeSantis treated Venezuelans you know exactly what the republican party is up to. He's of venezuelan decent but don't hear him talk about that now do you? Look up North Carolina white supremacy 1898 and it will give you a better understanding of what happened if you care.

You are also missing a piece of this puzzle. I have many Hispanic friends through work and many businesses I would visit for work. They all complain about the struggles they went through when they came here. The are tired of those flooding across the border. They are tired of all the hand outs, my Hispanic freinds feel more like Trump on how this is destroying the country they came here to work hard and live in. An the costs (literally) the went to become a citizen and see people coming across the border and demanding all the things they've worked so hard for be given out for free.

I'm black and I will be voting republican. The Dems are doing nothing to keep my vote. Maybe the Exodus will make them come to the table.

We live down in the valley too and it’s frustrating that illegal people come here and are able to get all kinds of assistance and when local Hispanic and latino citizen need assistance they don’t have it or we don’t qualify when families are clearly struggling to put food on the table right now.

The Republicans and Democrats both want the guest worker program to stay broken. Otherwise they don't have anything to run on when it comes to the Latino vote. They both promise to do something about immigration issues, but nothing ever gets done, this is done on purpose.

Karla, I agree. Even poor white families feel it. My family is blue collar. Almost all of us work between 70 to 80 hours a week to just barely get by. I drive a 20 year old truck. We eat junk food because it's cheaper, and don't have the time too make good cheap meals because we have to work two full time jobs to make ends meet. Then we see democrats handing out billions of dollars to Ukraine and illegal immigrants and it's like "are you freaking kidding me!?". We work ourselves to death, to have to pay a ton of taxes, and then watch our money given away to people who are not even a part of this country!
