There’s a couple in my area that hit yardsales when they have lots of traffic and they go take what they want. I took notice of them when I was at a sale they were also at and the homeowner told me she was scared to approach them as they were walking off & so I ran after them telling them they have to pay. They tried to play stupid and say they thought it was free. They paid. Later that fall they came to one of my own yardsales & I recognized them but they don’t make alot of eye contact with the homeowners. I watched them & waited then as I guessed they tried to slip away. They literally walked into the line to pay, stood there a few minutes as the three people ahead of them paid & but then walked away as if they also had paid. I called them out again. I told them if they needed help that was one thing but stealing was completely different & I’d call the cops if they returned. But I see them out a lot

Warn estate sales people about them. They've probably stolen thousands of dollars from estates and yard sales. If warned beforehand, the company could set up cameras in hidden places, and nail them and turn them into the police. Hidden cameras could be GoPros, which they might discount, in addition to surveillance cameras.

As I have said before, love watching you and your Mom going to yard sales. Maybe the person who left without paying is older and/or has a bad memory. Hopefully, they will realize their mistake and come back to pay the man.. If someone intentionally stole, it will come back around ten fold.

If I got that kiln I wouldn't get me Real Estate business done or my Ebay. I'd be making pottery without a doubt!! Fun find.

Estate sales companies that organize and run an estate sale usually have to pay taxes to the state that they're operating in on the goods that they sell so they will pass the tax collection onto the buyer. Sometimes for inheritance purposes a description of items sold and their sale price must be recorded and given to the attorney handling the dissemination of the estate. I think it's rediculous that an item that was taxed when it was sold new should ever have the opportunity to be taxed again, but such is life.
