RIP, Adrienne Shelly

As a small tribute to the utterly adorable indie actress and filmmaker, I include two bits from Hal Hartley's odd and charming little short "Opera No. 1" in which Adrienne plays a roller-skating angel (alongside Parker Posey) who bewitches James Urbaniak (the onscreen performers are lip-synching their songs). These bits frame the opening sequence and the bit that gives the film "Trust" (1990) its title.

I just wanted to listen to the Trust soundtrack and have a giggle at one of her's and Martin Donovan's scenes. Then I saw this and had to wikipedia it to see if it was really true. I'm so sad now that I can hardly bear it. I can't believe she's gone...she was the loveliest actress ever in The Unbelievable Truth and Trust and sounds as though she was a lovely person in real life too. What a waste.

Diego Pillco entered his guilty plea February 14, 2008. The illegal immigrant from Ecuador said that, contrary to his original story, Shelly had not complained about noise, but rather had found him stealing money from her purse and had threatened to call the police. Pillco will receive 25 years in prison without parole when he is sentenced on March 6.

Not enough time, his sentence should be doubled that.

Years ago, HBO or SHOWTIME kept running Trust and The Unbelievable Truth at odd hours of the night. I was enamored with Adrienne. I just kept wanting to see her smile, which she never did in those Hal Hartley movies. Then, in Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me she finally did....and lit up the screen. Followed her ever since. I was heartbroken about her death. I just couldn't believe it.

she's dead? I wasn't aware that she had passed. I only seen her in Trust. Found her to have this certain beauty about her. Too bad, R.I.P.

She is the best ever. 1:40 "She going to get married" and 2:33 makes a good point.

Oh, I see. They didn't sing their own parts. I thought for a moment that Adrienne was a quadruple threat. Still... a creative queen.
