RIGGS IS CURED! HE CAN NOW HIT DRIVER!

Спорт

The summer is coming which means it's FITTING SEASON.
Riggs is a 4 handicap golfer, member of the ForePlay crew and for those who follow it's a well known fact that he struggles (like many) with the Driver. Today we work through his TaylorMade Qi10 fitting and discuss what he should be focussing on to improve his driving game so it can align with his expectations as a player.
Golf ball proves to be important as always and is our first check point before moving into alignment and his whole approach to hitting the driver. Riggs is a fun guy who plays golf for a certain set of reasons and it's clear from the way he talks about his driving game that this facet doesn't match his values.
We discuss how to bring this void closer and what he can do both technically and mentally to start seeing better results off the tee and ultimately look forward to hitting what should be one of your favorite clubs.
As always thanks to Riggs for his honesty and for allowing the camera to roll. All the links below lead to great things:

Maybe this is my experience in the UK, but not many fitters put this much energy and enthusiasm in their fitting process. Often its a tick box for the numbers and the closest wins, but there's so much to be said about the confidence you get, the alignment help, the insight into your swing path that just don't get communicated well enough. They want you out the door with your pockets empty asap. I wish everyone put this much love into their fitting process as you do Trottie

I watch a lot of KZread golf and I know a lot of good golfers. I’ve never seen anyone that was below about a 6 handicap that when they hit the ball sounded like they are raking it through carpet. It never has that “thud” at impact when you’re pinching the ball. I’m not hating him, I like Riggs. I just think he’s a 12 handicap. You’re just not a 4 if you can’t get off the tee box for a month.

Imagine your swing on camera. But, it is what it is. I dont think he’s a 5 or 6. He’s probably an 8. And that’s generous. But, he knows how to play. He’s proven that on camera with many videos. A 4 whs handicap rating is a base handicap. It is all about the slope rating and for the better players the sss comes into play. The course where i am a member has a yellow slope of 135 off the back tees its 137. Off the whites a whs 4 handicap gets probably 3/4 extra shots so no longer a 4 now an 7/8. Friend of mine has a whs of 2.3, his course is 139 but with an sss of 70. A pro would hope to score 2 under. Suppose its relative, now a whs of 4 is not the old 4 handicap

All I’m saying is Riggs says he’s a 4 handicap and chooses which scores to post, at these difficult courses. It makes me wonder if I’m these scrambles, does he post those scores and thinks they’re his own?

My dad is 60 divers the ball 260 tops and savage with a wedge and putter And had brain surgery less than 2 years ago. He would spank rigs any day of the week no doubt..

Riggs grip is super weak unless i'm seeing things. It just looks odd but he's flushing it! No right or wrong.

Now its about putting the work in and just letting go. It must be hard having every swing on camera and people busting your balls all the time. F those haters Riggs!

Riggs please play me off a 4 handicap. I’m a straight up 15 handicap and I bet i bet you without strokes. With stokes we are done after 9 holes

Has Riggs ever broken 80 on camera? I know Frankie has a few times, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything in the 70s from Riggs.

Bad mechanics are exposed under pressure. His swing looks better here, but it looks like he is hitting more down on it and not trying to scoop it up like he does in other videos. Too flat of back swing, not enough vertical pressure on the back swing and down swing. There is a reason it is called a down swing and not around swing.

Good stuff. My swing is similar to Riggs. Think TaylorMade would document the journey of a 12 Capper down as far as possible?! I drive with an M2 9.5*. Keep up the great work Mr. Trot.🏌️⛳️
