PGA Tour Coach Said I WAS DOING IT ALL WRONG!

Спорт

This #tourtrucktuesday I head to Phoenix for a Golf Lesson with the highly regarded Martin Chuck.
Martin is based at The Raven Golf Club & is the founder of Tour Striker the creators of the famous Smart Ball:
Check out one of my favorite training devices The SMART BALL: www.tourstriker.com/products/...
Entering into this lesson I deliberately didn't want to divulge too much about my game in order to obtain a true demonstration as to how a world leading coach would conduct a lesson and manage an individual. The outcome is not what I expected!!
Martin, like all greats coaches, truly understands the relationship between teaching and coaching. He also recognizes the pressures on us all when it comes to time management and how we should set our expectation levels based on the commitment we make to competing.
As you've requested this is a longer form video but from start to finish their are nuggets (multiple onions) of information that will help us all improve. Grab a note pad or your iPhone and capture 5 points that are relevant to you and I guarantee you will improve from the next 40 minutes of KZread viewing.
Yes the matches are fun and the LIVE fittings are crucial when it comes to equipment but with the season around the corner now is a good line to check in on your technique and prepare as best as you can to play the game.
Hit that #subscribe button and be sure to check out my other uploads, this one was personal to me as I've always wanted to visit Martin and I can't thank him enough for his time and hospitality.
AND REMEMBER GOLF IS A TARGET GAME!

Chris, this is poss the best lesson you will have ever had and I have seen on KZread. Today, most guys get too hung up on technical aspects of golf when it is a fluid game which is full of mistakes. Managing these things in our head is the key. Just go and play but manage expectations and we can all be in our happy places. Good man, keep up the good work.

It was hilarious to witness coach Chuck try and tell Trottie that he should stop fussing over his swing. There was some great advice there (even if Trottie wouldn't/couldn't be told) - no matter what our level, we are fortunate to be able to go out and play golf, so try and enjoy it; after all, there are more important things to stress over than a double on nine, as well as more important things to celebrate than the bounce-back birdie on ten ;)

Trottie was focused on solving the equation of "why he misses left" because he was looking to solve for perfection. It is THE mental issue golfers have because this isn't about perfection. It's about whether you can game what you brought ( barring any serious issues). Be calm, be decisive, and be target-oriented.

The irony for me is his coaching is like your club fitting. You don’t weigh your guys down with non-critical minutiae. Good players needing or wanting to see a different flight window, you make a tweak here, maybe a different shaft and you stop talking and call it a day. Good is Good, don’t screw it up and they trust you. Nice one here, thanks.

Everybody wants a magical shortcut to playing golf like a professional without putting in the hard work on ALL fronts (including the mental aspect). This all just reinforces how important it is to practice your skills, develop a pre-shot routine, have a strong mental game/attitude and how positive you carry on with your day/round/whatever even after hitting shots that didn't go where you intended.

So much that it's ruined my outcome and losing the simple part of the game which is just to play. I need to take this and dial it back to where I started and just focus more on outcome and not so much on the technical aspect. Thanks Trottie for this!!🙏🏾🙏🏾 special thanks to the coach 🔥🙌🏾

Perfection is the enemy of good! I like how Martin was trying to get this message across to Trottie who has a great swing but by the looks tends to over analyse to much, but understandable when you look how technical he has to be with club fitting but when it comes to the swing maybe a little more feel and less over thinking!! Martin's philosophy is basically step into the shot with full confidence and intent and accept the outcome good bad or indifferent and move on to the next shot, repeat, such a great way to approach the game. Great coach and teacher! Good video Trottie thanks for sharing.
