Making this tomorrow for a party I make it like my Nana taught me very similar to your recipe but to the oil and garlic I add anchovies about 3or4 they melt into the oil and garlic and add such a delicious flavor... I use cavatelli for the pasta and add pasta/broccoli water to make it creamy and yes we add locatelli cheese 💗 much love to you both!

Looks amazing. I yell at my husband if he doesn’t take the grated pecorino when I make a garlic and oil based sauce. “Ya need the cheese!”. On the other hand, I totally get Nonna, because I get pissed off when my husband just reaches for hot sauce and not red pepper. Don’t mess with my flavors! (I married an American southerner). 11 years of marriage and he’s learning. Nonna says no cheese, then no cheese! Seriously, but the cheese though. ❤️ I feel you.

My family are Sicilian. My mom makes pasta with broccoli, but she makes it more soupy. Cooks the broccoli, garlic. Olive oil in a small pan. Then she gets spaghetti, breaks it in small pieces the cooks it in the broccoli sauce. When its done she serves it in a soup bowl, we always add Parmesan. I guess every recipe is different.

Love all of you. Yes I am Sicilian and definitely use cheese on all my pasta dishes...Even ones with seafood. Pasta is naked without cheese on it. To each their own. I've made this dish so many different methods but now I've settled on one. I saute the broccoli in oil..Then add garlic and more olive oil. Boil macaroni separately. Then I add some pasta water to the broccoli and finally add the pasta. Cook a few minutes and done. Prefer the broccoli with more texture here but have made it your way as well. Thank You
