Rifle Testing Seekins Precision 6.5 Creedmoor, Ammo Testing in the Ransom Rifle Rest Mega 2.

Is it me the gun or the ammo? We want to know so let's send it. Let's find out together. Real world test with real world variables. This is the first half of the test at 200 yards. For those following along we released a teaser video, then the intro video, now this is first half of test to keep things short and sweet. This was done at 200 yards, so group is larger than the 100 yards obviously.
Rifle is chambered in 6.5 Creedmoor. This was not an exhaustive test. This was a onetime short day that happened to be one day in May. Some good people over at Excelitas Technologies happened to stop in town with this rifle and wanted to see what Ransom Rest got out of it. The test was supposed to be with hand load ammo.
We think you’ll enjoy these custom-made KZread videos about our products.
In this video you will see the Mega 2 Rifle tester, testing the gun. This time we are testing repeatability with that ammo available, Test Day was with high winds. Removing the human error is what we do. We had some variation that day, and if you watched the intro, you would know we did not use the forward Mega 2 hold position where it holds the sling mount on the gun. We wanted to see if the gun would move a little without using that mount position. It did deviate slightly but well within test limits to document POA, POI variation and repeatability.
One range, with One Rifle, out to 200 yards during high winds. This is real world testing and real shots from start to finish. 200 yards to up the variables. The mega 2 don't flinch and it breaks the shot the same each time.

Just FYI the correct way to measure group size is, measure from the outside of the hole for the two farthest apart and the subtract the diameter of the bullet from that total. For example.875” outside to outside measurement minus.257” equals .618” group size.

Not really. It's typically measured from center to center of the furthest rounds, but either way, it gets you the same number. Thank you for your input and comment; we have seen it done both ways. We are flexible to whatever works best for the audience. Please remember we are Ransom Rest. You may not know, but we invented and patented the tri-leg Competition Rifle Rest Rifle Master before any other rest company even existed. We appreciate you watching and for your comment.

Did you find out what was wrong with the hand loads?

No, that's 1.25 moa at 100 yards. That rifle should shoot half moa or send it back, and they will rework the rifle. The strap over the barrel affects harmonics

Thank you for your comment greatly appreciated. Yes that is probably closer to 1.25 MOA with that ammo at that time. This is kind of comical how many people believe all rifles or even this one should be 1/2 MOA. That would really beg to argue why we even have competition shooting. Especially if all production rifles and production cartridges are 1/2 MOA. May ask why even reload. The strap is not touching the barrel. That would cause an issue as you said. It is just over the barrel. I am sorry but as you know not all barrels are the same. Not all guns like all ammo. And this rifle has a tuner break on it as well. Many factors are at play here. Also please keep in mind who we are. We are the ones who designed the Rifle Master bench rest. Many world records for best shot group at thousand yards with 50 BMG have been done off of our Bench Rests. This is probably why most Rifle Rests in the world use a similar design to our original patented Rifle Master. That said not all rifles are sub-MOA. not even from Seekins. Regardless of what KZread may lead you to believe. And clearly this rifle going from huge groups to MOA is also clear that not all gun like all the same ammo or shoot the same. The reason we have this video and test is for this data. We love this rifle and with the right ammo it can average sub-MOA but does not mean it is a SUb MOA gun there are such things as SD and averages I am sure you are aware of. We always say don't judge by small sample sizes just because it did a sub-MOA at band camp with jerry on guitar does not mean it's a sub moa rifle. it just means it can occasionally do a sub moa if the planets align. This is why we love the Mega 2. If it was Sub MOA maybe it could do a 30-round group under 0ne inch like the H&K did. We are not limited to 3 rounds then look, its 1/2 inch like some reviewers, we do many more rounds and sometimes 100 rounds and measure. Then you're not making decisions on small sample sizes or because one guy at band camp had a good group. Hope that helps. And for clarification we like this rifle and Seekins makes great products, this rifle in video just needs more testing to find the right ammo. This was for a customer who had questions.

@@Ransomrest I just know seekins doesn't have a moa guarantee but they have a satisfaction guarantee and yes you have to find ammo the gun likes and if I spend 2 grand on a rifle it better perform better then a tikka or I'm wasting my money.

@@cpreit8862 Absolutely you hope it does perform. Thank you again for your input and comment. Stay posted for more rifle testing as this year goes on. We don't always have time to video our tests, but they do have good info none the less.
