Hey, I work at a gun shop where we sell these and just wanted to make a few interjections. For starters the HIT rifles now all come with MDT metal/poly mags. Secondly the butt pad IS adjustable for both height and angle. Thirdly the folding stock being stiff is nice in my personal opinion because it doesn't have any play to it like some others on the market. Fourth, the notches on the Arca rail do serve a purpose besides reducing weight. Seekins has made it compatible with Really Right Stuff's R-Lock which is their version of ArcaLock like Area 419 has. Fifth, more machining on the chassis makes it more expensive to produce not less... Sixth, the carbon fiber cheek piece will not be miserable in the cold due to it feeling cold. The rest of the chassis might but that's the case with any metal chassis. Seventh, Seekins accuracy guarantee is that the gun will shoot to the shooter's satisfaction and they will buy it back if they cannot make it do so. That all being said I do agree the grip could be better, they could have put some foam padding on the cheek piece although you over exaggerated how uncomfortable it is, personally I've shot the HIT rifle a decent amount and I didn't notice that is was uncomfortable. My main complaint though is the fore end isn't longer to give you the ability to add more external weights. It would also be nice if there were internal weights that could be added. The thumb shelf could also be much better like you mentioned as well. All in all though if you think about it it's only $2400 and to build a custom rifle It will run you dang near double that price so for someone looking to get into PRS the HIT Pro is a fantastic choice. It's actually less than a Tikka Tac A1 which is not nearly as well equipped out of the box. Another VERY IMPORTANT point is that the HIT rifles have a quick change barrel set up that requires no action wrench, barrel vise or even gunsmith if you buy a pre-fit barrel. All you need is a screwdriver with a T15 bit. You can also disassemble the bolt without tools and change the bolt head to swap from short action magnum, cartridges like the 6.5 PRC to a standard short action cartridges like a 6.5 Creedmoor, and even down to a 223 Remington. Not trying to nitpick but you should probably do your research and learn about the product before you do a review. Also in my opinion reviews should only be done after using the product not taking it out of a box and giving it a look see. This is my official review of your review lol

There are plenty of folding stocks that aren’t ridiculously stiff and and still lock up just fine with no play. Both MDT and MPA manage to do that just fine. At $2400 it’s not nearly as good as the Savage 110 Elite and not even comparable to the MPA which is only $100 more. I didn’t just pull it out of the box. I shot it a lot and not only is it not a fantastic choice for competition, it’s extremely disappointing. I can assure you, you will not see this rifle being shot by serious competitors. That’s just a fact. The moment they shoot similarly priced, much better rifles, they move on real quick. I purchased and planned on at least putting it into our inventory of student guns for our long range courses. I’ve decided against that. I’ve let other new shooters shoot it and they run into comfort and use issues that’s just not experienced with other rifles in our inventory which includes MPAs, Delta 5 Pros, and Savages. All of those rifles are MUCH better than the Seekins. I mean it’s literally impossible to shoot those other rifles and then shoot the Seekins and objectively say it’s good as or better. You can’t be an honest broker with any level of experience shooting LR and walk away with that assessment. Just can’t. I was excited about this rifle. I like Seekins and this rifle is just disappointing. It doesn’t compare to the other rifles in its class/price point. It just doesn’t. Thanks for watching and I appreciate the constructive criticism. I hate giving negative reviews. I really do. It’s easier for likes, views, and building relationships with companies to give glowing reviews. After positive reviews I typically get calls or emails from companies and I enjoy having that relationship and access to new products and to people on the inside for questions or other insider info. BUT… that’s not my job. My job is deliver you my honest objective opinion AND subjective thoughts on it. You’re welcome to disagree and I expect that but it is fairly clear that you haven’t compared that rifle to the others mentioned that cost the same or less than the Seekins. I also listen and seriously self-reflect regarding to critical but respectful comments like yours. On this one, I disagree with you but keep them coming and keep me honest! @@paramounttactical The MOMENT you said the HIT isn't "nearly" as good as the Savage you lost a huge chunk of credibility. The Savage is only $50 less than a standard HIT and not remotely in the same area code quality or performance wise(let alone warranty or service). I have shot all of the rifles you have mentioned....plus the Bergaras, the Proofs, the Tikkas, MPR, and Ruger Precisions at distance ......you're assessment that they don't shoot at LEAST as well as those mentioned is pretty comical, especially at the price point.

This is what reviews should look like, in my opinion. No punches pulled and praise where it's warranted. And even when you have a problem with something you explain WHY, which lets viewers determine if that same thing might be a problem for them (or not).

I sell guns PT (after retirement ) and have shot both the Seekins and Christensen extensively. Accuracy with the guns I have shot for both makes has been very good. Service and QC from the companies is VERY different. Seekins will stop at nothing to make a customer happy/whole,up to buying back a rifle if they can't make someone happy. My interactions with Christensen have been "meh" at best.....along the lines of "you are lucky we let you buy one of our rifles and if there is an issue is HAS to be shooter error" and always "have you done our ridiculously detailed break in procedure EXACTLY?!?" Also, in the past 2 years I have gotten WAY too many rifles back from customers with issues that QC should have caught and should never have left the factory. At this point I will recommend Tikkas and Bergaras before a Christensen. Full disclosure, I am currently waiting on a PH2 in 6.5cm Desert Shadow. I had my choice and after shooting everything in the shop that is what I chose. My 2 cents......

When I bought my Hit there was almost 450 dollars difference in the 2. Mine came with an MDT metal 10rd that works as it should. I don't like the adj on buttstock either. I do like the fact that it folds stiff though so when it's locked in place it has no wiggle. Also like that the action is flat bottomed and matches the chassis very well. But my main reason for buying was the switch barrel. I can have several different caliber rifles for just the price of a barrel. Only 1 scope and chassis and action! As for the barrel off and on I have not had to adj.my scope at all my poi has stayed the same Thanks Randy

@Paramount Tactical So far am very pleased with it .I am not a very good shooter. My first 10, 5 shot groups I was ladder testing 2 different powders 2.5 gn. Total speed in half gn increments on each powder. 6 of the 10 groups were around half moa and other 4 were less than 1. Shooting from bench at 100yrds. Another real advantage for me is taking barrel off to clean. Thanks Randy

I watched part 2 on Rumble. The borescope video was illuminating. I have seen/read about several reports of sub 1/2MOA groups with the Havak Hit, but I'm not sure the action and chassis are completely up to snuff, and now I'm not so sure about the barrels. I definitely wouldn't pay $1200 for a Havak action when there are a half dozen other thoroughly vetted Rem700-based options.

I have had excellent professional courtesy from Seekins customer service in particular Jordan Garrison who has answered any and all questions in a timely manor.

A couple of tips 6.5 PRC comes with a metal Accu-mag. Also with the cheek riser and buttstock if you loosen the adjustment knob and push on the knob it slides smoothly. And the angle of the butt stock is adjustable, if you slide it all the way and look on the front side towards the rifle there are screws to adjust angle. Kind of hard to see because they are black on a black butt stock. I agree with the grip problems. I’m 6’5” and the stock grip is a little small so I will be upgrading to an MPA EVG grip. Do you think it will fit?

Good info Jason! As far as the MPA EVG… I don’t see why it wouldn’t fit but I’m just not sure how well it would fit. That grip was made specifically for MPA rifles. I would probably recommend the MDT Premier or Elite Grips because they’re adjustable.

@@paramounttactical I've got the 6.5 CM and I have shot several shot several 10 shot groups that are 0.75 moa and 5- shot groups in the 0.3-0.4 moa range. First bolt gun I've shot in 20+ years so pretty happy with the results.

@@brentrasmussen2440 awesome! But therein lies the problem with production guns. Some are shooters and some… not so much. I’ve seen it too many times reviewing production guns. For $2300 you should be getting a higher level of fit and finish, functionality, and quality control. When the MPA is about the same price and every barrel is hand lapped and is Sheffield air gauge checked to .0001 for uniformity and every single rifle comes with its own card that has all internal dimensions on it. Overall it’s not a bad rifle. I just believe for $2300 people should expect more. I’m a fan of Seekins. I was looking forward to the rifle’s release but overall I’m disappointed in the features and what you get for the money. Thanks for watching! -Gary

@@paramounttactical Great review Gary and I will say that you hit on at least 5 or 6 things that it has taken me hours and 400-500 rounds to pick up on. I'm an Idaho boy so had to support the local guy - that said I'm looking for a different caliber and the MPA looks awesome!

I’m pretty sure 1:11.25 has been considered to be the ideal twist in 308 for long range and especially for the 175 SMK which as you know is the militaries choice of projectile. It was my understanding that the M40 has been fitting with the 1:11.25 twist, but when i just searched that i didn’t find it. I had a Remington M700 mil spec with this twist rate and it was consistently 1 hole groups with 175 smks. It was my understanding that this was a change from 1:12 which worked for 168 smks but was a bit to slow for optimum performance with the 175’s

My 5R Milspec was consistently 0.4 moa or better with the 175 FGMM. More than good enough for me as I don’t have the time to reload. So 1:11.25 doesn’t bother me. For more modern cartridges 1:8 6.5C does okay for me but it’s in a gas gun.

Been using Seekins products including rifles for a long time and always high quality. I don’t have experience with their bolt guns but their custom shop makes 308/6.5 gas guns for military and law enforcement. They’ve always responded to me but sometimes their slow about it. Once they started doing military and law enforcement their products aren’t as easy to get because most everything is made in house.

I agree with your critiques of the rifle but you never even mention the quick change barrel system in part one or two. They already offer standard and magnum bolt face and I believe the have announced a 223 bolt face (not 100%) on that. But still that is the main feature of the rifle that you don’t touch on at all. There are no other quick change caliber rifles even close to this price I’m aware of AI, desert tech. Factoring that in increases the value significantly.

That’s fair criticism. The reason you don’t see quick change systems on very many rifles is they’re very difficult to do well. Even MPA offers the Switch Lug system. You can get it in any rifle they make but I refuse to sell or promote them because of such mixed results. Great accuracy using those is rare or very expensive to do well. It’s one of those things that is VERY tempting and people will buy just at the mention of it only to find terrible results. Since I didn’t have a separate barrel to test swapping I kind of just wanted to stay away from it all together. That shouldn’t be the primary reason to buy the rifle. It should be a really good rifle then that’s a bonus. I haven’t seen any videos of that being reviewed or tested. If it was really good I would think Seekins would be promoting that hard and you’d see them producing their own content on that all over the place. It concerns me that is not the case. I will say many of your points with just the ergos with the grip and feeding are enough for me to go other routes. Just mentioning it for people who may not be aware it is capable of it. Cut outs in the ARCA rail was made for the Area 419 locking ARCA clamp. So they do have some functionality.

I have the Havak Hit (none Pro). Sub 2000 dollars which I think is a good buy. Went with the Hellfire brake and Area 419 rail. I agree that the Pro might be over priced, but think the non-pro is a good buy. Comes with the Timney elite Hunter trigger. Got down to 1.5 pound pull, so a pretty decent setup.

Nah, no it doesn’t. My fiends still in SOCOM are running Barrett MRAD .308 barrels with 1:8, shooting M118LR which is 175 MK he called me to tell me that he’s never seen 118 shoot so tight. They’re consistently getting sub .5 MOA with 1:8 and all the .308 barrels I own and used in SOCOM were 1:10 and we always got sub MOA groups with 175MK. Thanks for watching. -Gary

Your MPA video is great. I live just outside of DC not too far from where you are in WV. Very likely I’ll be putting in an MPA order with you late summer/early fall, especially if you’re still offering 50% off the folding stock.

I mean tikka uses same twist for .308, and my ctr and tac a1 stack 175 gmm comfortably under half an inch. The 185 bergers were also in the ballpark, but I haven’t really shot enough of them to declare it definitively. Do I wish the twist in all the barrels were a bit faster? Kinda. That doesn’t mean the twists chosen aren’t actually absolutely fine. That being said I have not shot one of these yet

I had the Seekins on order for 4-5 months. The eta just kept getting bumped back. I now know it was a blessing in disguise. I ended up canceling that order and ordered the MPA from Paramounttactical. The customer service isn't even close that I know. As for the MPA it shoots factory ammo .4 moa at a boring consistency. I took it to my first match last week. I can tell you I didn't see one Seekins rifle. However at least half were using at least a MPA chassis if not a PMR. The other half were split up between MDT, Foundations, and a bunch of other elite and custom manufacturers. If you shoot an MPA it's hard to not be biased. I've shot with people who have guns that cost twice as much and many say they wished they went with the PMR and saved the money.

According to Sonoran Desert Institute manual, for .308 a 1/12 twist would be for 140-175 grain bullets, 1/13 would be for 110-140 grain, and a 1/10 would be for 175-210+ grain bullets. I’m with you, I’d personally get the 1/10 twist.

Personally I think thats nonsense and I think Bryan Litz would agree. This is a deeper discussion, maybe a good Dangerous Liberty Podcast topic but I would also change those parameters. For shooting under 500 yards slower than 1:10 would be fine regardless of bullet weight. These slow twist rates come from 20, 30, 50…+ years ago when bullet manufacturing wasn’t as good. WAY back when they were originally trying determine twist rates, at the higher twist rates, those poorly constructed bullets would start to break up and do weird things due to a lack of concentricity. Projectiles have come a long way since those antiquated twists were established. The new Barrett MRAD rifles commercially available and issued to SOCOM in .308 are 1:8 and are shooting 118LR (175gr Sierra Match King) .3-.5 MOA. That’s not surprising for the rifle but it is for the “match grade” military ammo. Bryan Litz was talking about conventional twist rates (including 1:10 .308) being too slow 10yrs ago but it was thought that pretty much only Berger bullets which are especially well made and concentric would handle .308@1:8. Not so. All those bullet weights mentioned by Sonoran Desert would perform better at 1:10 with just decent quality bullets. Look up some articles by Bryan Litz on the topic, or better yet just buy the Applied Ballistics library of books. Fascinating stuff and it’s funny to know how wrong the LR industry has been on so many topics because they were basing so much on outdated, never truly tested, now completely proven wrong theories. The problem now is even though through testing those theories have been proven wrong, ppl.. and I mean sources people trust still propagate them.

This is the first time I have ever commented on a you tube video. And the first time I’ve seen you do a 2 part video where you have to go to a completely different platform to watch the 2nd part. I’ve see tons of videos of you shooting all kinds of rifles on you tube. I’m just going to come out and say it, you are definitely coming of as biased in this video, which is a shame, because I’ve never felt that on any of your other videos. I did buy the “Hit” rifle not to long ago. And you didn’t even cover the main reason I bought the rifle in this video. Which is the Action design and switch barrel ability. Yes I’m not a huge fan of the cheek piece, but actually, it hasn’t been terrible, not nearly as bad as my Ruger RPR. Then banging on the grip really, it’s super comfortable. You rag about the tension of the folding stock….honestly how many times do people even fold their stock, I never do. And by keeping the tension tight, it insures rigidity. And no mention of the design enabling to fold right up against the frame due to a cutout to fit the bolt handle through…Man I’m really disappointed in this video. You should have done some due diligence and watch the Seekins video where they go over all the features of the rifle before releasing this obviously biased “review”. You didn’t even know the butt pad does raise and cant? Dude pull this down and do some research… Ps I have no affiliation with anyone, or company in the gun industry, just an average joe that likes to shoot and reload.

Kevin, I’m sorry you feel that way. I state simply what I like and don’t like. I guess that is bias but to do anything else would be dishonest. I didn’t do anything different on this rifle that I didn’t do on the rest of the rifles and products I reviewed. I specifically avoid watching other review videos so I’m not influenced by them. I’m sure I covered points many other reviewers didn’t. And BTW, I correct a couple of issues I got incorrect in part 2. I’m not going to get everything right every time but I do try and I will correct the record when I’m wrong and I will be wrong from time to time. You’re right though, I think that rifle is subpar in multiple ways compared to the Delta 5 Pro, the Tikka, MPA by a long shot, and even the Savage Elite. I’m very disappointed in it. It’s not a $2300 rifle and it’s not even a good “competition rifle”. That very honest opinion comes from the bias of having spent time and lots of experience with the other rifles mentioned. You can have a smooth folding stock and it lock up and be rigid. I fold my stock all the time, at least every time I clean my rifle. And just because you don’t use something very often is it be OK to be subpar? The MPA folding stock is smooth as butter, as is the MDT. I’d it not fair to expect the same out of a similarly priced rifle? Even if they weren’t priced the same would it be wrong to expect it to operate easily? TBH with you I do think your own bias is playing a major role in your criticism of me and this review. That’s ok brother. I don’t take it personally. I promise you, you will not see these doing well in competition. I am genuinely sorry you feel like I’m being bias. Im genuinely not and those are my honest and true opinions based on 20yrs of LR experience and being exposed to a lot of different rifle brand and models. I will always do fair and honest reviews even when people don’t like my opinions. 🤷‍♂️ I like Seekins and hope they make something better because that is not a $2000 rifle IMO. @@kevinryan8463 did several 2 parts, never did a 2 part and switch platform because it wasn’t till less than a month ago that YT hit me with a warning and a Strike back to back on videos that I can’t even figure out what policy I violated. YT knocked me off for a week. If I get another strike it’s a 2 week ban and one more strike and they delete my channel. It’s been all over the 2A community how YT is purging 2A channels. So as I laid out in the last couple of videos, anything where I disassemble a gun or anything that could ever be interpreted as an issue, it will be on Rumble. Did you not know that less than a month ago YT went on a rampage and removed several big 2A channels? Many more got strikes and temporary bans. But what does that have to do with bias? As soon as we move enough viewers over to Rumble, I’m getting off of YT.

So no I didn’t know you tube did something, but I have seen your other 2 part videos like the savage elite precision . I was actually looking at that and the masterpiece arms and the Seekins. I’ll admit your video on the savage and failure to feed I took head to. But the ability to switch barrels so easy, easier than an AI rifle and the 4 lug with adjustable magazine is what sold me on the Seekins. All I’m saying is you definitely came off as negative, not even mentioning the best aspects of the Seekins. Do yourself a favor and watch the video Seekins put out where there is 3 guys standing there going over the whole rifle. Like I said, this is the first I’ve ever commented on a you tube video… and I watch a Ton of videos. I just bought an annealer, so I’m watching a lot of those. Listen you seem like a good guy, I like you get your boy evolved, and you seemed to be a straight shooter, ex SF, etc. I don’t want to keep bugging ya. Just do a little more digging, the rifle is a shooter.

I’m guessing the 308 is 11.25 as opposed to 10 because of the lower recoil with lighter bullets for comp shooting?

@@paramounttactical i came here because I had every intention of buying the havak hit. I had no idea the MPA could be had for not much more. I still love the idea of being able to quickly switch calibers, but you definitely brought up some valid concerns. My main issue is that in socal, every shop stocks the same crap: RPRs and the CA MPR. I have no intention of purchasing either of them, even if they were $1000 less than they are.

I agree on twist. Glen Seekins: people want 1-10 in 308 and 1-8 in 300 prc. I have told your CS guys by phone, email and in person.

Thinking the same. Shot PMR rifles from MPA, experience with both, own the Hit Pro. Dudes knowledgeable for sure, but biased for a reason.

Pretty sure the 1:11.25 twist on the .308 came from the M24. Not sure about that though. Somebody help here!

What mags fit well with this rifle? I’m looking for higher capacity magazines.

Watched the part 2 on rumble, couldn't leave a comment there, but does anyone else think it's rust in the barrel?

No, it’s not rust. When you see rust it’s very obvious what it is and you can see it on patches.

I stopped watching after the comment of the 1:11.25 twist on the 308 and not understanding why they chose that when 11.25 twist or even 12 twist will stabilize any bullet you’d want to push in 308 and stating you’d never buy one that’s not 10 twist or faster. I have to ask though, is that 700P on the wall behind you a 308? If so it’s a 1:12 😂

This conversation started with all kinds of fun filled “facts”. That is my 700P and I assure you it’s a 1:10 twist. The first gen 700P came with 1:12 twist. They never came with 1:11.25. They were later offered with 1:10. Here’s a listing for one with updated specs. armsunlimited.com/remington-700-police-308-win-bolt-action-rifle-24-threaded-barrel/ If you want marginal, to barely adequate SG that falls apart at trans sonic, then go with 1:11.25 or 12. 1:11.25 is a twist rates based on 25-30yr old data and doesn’t account for modern projectiles that don’t fall apart at higher RPMs and can be properly stabilized. You do understand that Barret MRAD .308 barrels are 1:8 right? (that’s rhetorical bc clearly you don’t) and after extensive stability testing at distance that’s what SOCOM picked for shooting 118LR (175gr MK) I find it very interesting that people are so ignorant on this topic. It’s like they learned everything in the 90s and then never bothered to keep up with or update their knowledge base given how much new information and work has been done on this topic in the past 10 or so years. For distance shooting, you want an SG over 2 for goog stability into trans sonic ranges. If you’re interested in updating your knowledge here’s a decent article on the topic. www.ammoman.com/blog/308-twist-rate-chart/ For more in depth understanding, I’d suggest you read Bryan Litz Applied Ballistics as he discusses how historically projectiles have been under stabilized for many years. I also find it humorous how so many people can spew absolute incorrect, outdated, misinformation with so much hubris. It’s the illusion of knowledge, dunning-Kruger, false consensus… pick any of those. Those describe you right now.

What bullet would you plan on shooting that doesn’t stabilize in a 11.25 twist barrel in 308?

You understand there’s different levels of stabilization right? 11.25 is not optimal for 175gr. The data pointing to 11.25 being adequate is 30+ yrs old. You need to research Bryan Litz’s work on barrel twist rates… SOCOM and most others that bother keeping up with current data, aee running 1:8 .308 barrels and getting better groups at 100 but more importantly, stable trajectories at transonic distances. Go look at Barrett MRAD Rifles .308 twist rate.

@@paramounttactical math doesn’t lie, 11.25 twist is plenty for most 30 cal bullets up to 185. The Berger 185 jug is a perfect bullet for a 11.25 twist

Modern science, using modern bullets says otherwise. 🤷‍♂️ 1:10 or even 1:8 provides better stabilization.

@@charlesmullins3238 spins them perfectly based on what? A 20yr old non-scientific assessment using 20yr old bullet technology? Have you read anything from Bryan Litz? You know SOCOM is now fielding the MRAD and the .308 barrel it comes with has a twist rate of 1:8 for the M118LR which uses 175SMK. My former team mate on the Sniper Committee says they’re getting the tightest groups at 100 and more importantly further down range than they ever have using that spin rate with that ammo. See this is the problem with LR, what is found to be true 15-20yrs ago stick as gospel forever. LR is constantly improving in every aspect but people hold onto outdated info and then argue as if they are constantly doing the research or tracking people they are. If you want improved grouping and down range performance at 100 and especially beyond trans-sonic ranges like the professionals with millions of dollars of testing behind them do, then get your next .308 barrel with 1:8. If you want to have suboptimal performance at near and far distances, then stick with the 11.25 outdated paradigm. 🤷‍♂️ Up to you and everyone else arguing this 20yr old antiquated and incorrect information. @@paramounttactical my dd5v3 is 16” 1/11” and I’ve took my 175s to 1k yards with 1st rd 1st try impact…I’ve been handloadin for it over 2yrs and have over 10 different loads worked up…have no mil experience but love and respect all branches. I don’t know much but I’ve slept with my .308 bout 3yrs livin alone doin nothin but work come home load n shoot call midway repeat…ol girl holds round .68” at 100 and put 3rds in 3”@520 off my porch to the steel once…have a d50 with 130gr federal varmit rds in it now settin on Porch glassin up the hill…carbon 6.5prc beside it…if yer in eastern ky come shoot with us at lost cr…xring has a vid shootin there. Hazard ky

@@charlesmullins3238 ok lol… but what does that mean regarding optimal performance? How do you know you wouldn’t get .3 MOA with 1:8? “First round hit” ok.. what’s the group at 1000? No one said 1:11.25 doesn’t work but that doesn’t mean it’s the optimal twist rate. There’s a reason SOCOM and Barrett among others are switching to 1:8. You and others here are saying 1:11.25 is the “perfect” twist rate. Literally everyone with more testing capabilities and more recent/modern testing says otherwise.

What is the bi pod on there ??
