I bought my S16 for my commute since the Lynx was just too big to take on BART. the S16 fights perfectly between or under the seats and still gets me up the SF hills, plus the speakers and lights help my visibility at night. It may be a "kids wheel", but it fits my use case perfectly.

This is actually the use case that makes the most sense for most people who ride. An actuall means of transportation that is portable, can climb up hills and navigate through congested traffic. Scooters can't climb very well, ebikes are big and you have to have somewhere safe to park them and can't take them on the train or bus. The people saying that it's a kids wheel don't actually use wheels for getting around in the city, they probably use cars for that

Love watching S16 videos, as I have one. I'm going to have to have a go at that scootering. No stores in Australia would let you ride in them. Most shopping centres don't let bikes or scooters into them (even if you are pushing them) they have to be left outside. They appear to be a lot more tolerant over in the US. I bought a seat for my S16. Makes it a lot more comfortable to sit on, plus it provides protection for that top plastic plate where the display and main board are (in the event of a crash). The S16 weighs 31kg [68.3lbs], which is lighter than a lot of wheels, but is not particularly light. It alway surprises me when people say it's a good wheel for children. I've watched some kids trying to ride them, and they have a lot of trouble getting it of the stand to get it to self level... then they also have a lot of trouble mounting it by themselves.

Yeah, I agree with your last statement, "I think you gave it a disservice by calling it a kids wheel" I think you're a performance only rider and can't much appreciate the subtleties of non-performance wheels BTW, the control board was not replaced on that wheel. It's factory condition. We had to reinstall the BMS firmware.

I have the s16 Pro -its about 70lbs, - plus it goes around 40-45 mph too fast and heavy for a kid unless its an experienced "kid", perfect for commuting and carrying up an down stairs. Best under 100 pound wheel imo

It seems to me like the S16 is a good inner city wheel or a good college campus wheel where the speed of traffic tends to be a bit lower. Personally, if I didn't already have a 16X I would get it for portability for taking long trips in a rental car or a train.

my kingsong 16X hardly goes faster then 30 mph, and i use it to ride on the road in paris,, bycicle lanes, pedestrian area, while eating stuff, i have actually done more then 30.000 miles in 5 years. I think i'll be annoyed, if i'd go on a traight / regular road outside of a city. Hence i understand your feeling, outside of this in the small streets of paris, small wheels seem perfect to me, but i must admit, i have never used any other wheel on a regular basis.Hence i can't really know, but so far for my strips all over paris, small whell like the 16X sound very convenient to me.

I have an S16 in Bangkok, I think it has disadvantages and advantages, it does not have enough power to keep up with the traffic, on the other hand, it is flexible and light and easy to throw into a taxi. in Denmark I only have big wheels but a small wheel in a big city is finally ok, but I probably end up buying a big wheel in Bangkok too..🤔

Begode Falcon over S16 or S16 Pro? The Falcon is lighter, 55 lbs, vs 68 lbs, but it has 1500 watt motor vs 2800 watt or 3000 watt (S16 Pro) motor. For Falcon, eWheels shows 28 mph max speed, but 31 mph cruise speed? Then again, S16 with 2800 watt motor should have a bit higher top speed than 16X with 2200 watt motor (peak power is close though, 4500 watts versus 4000 watts). Seems that S16 would have more margin at close to 30 mph, S16 Pro should be safe at close to 35 mph. I'm just a hobbyist and an old guy (72 years old), riding on nearby paved bike paths, so 18XL V2 (spiked pedals, power pad like protrusions on upper pads) is enough for me (I don' t need suspension where I ride), it's very stable, and only weighs 53 lbs. The private streets where I live are cambered quite a bit, but with the narrow 2.5 inch tire, it isn't an issue (a wider tire could be an issue). I don't know why the 18XL V2 price is still close to $1900, about the same as S16 | S16 Pro, although 16X is cheaper at some dealers. All the public roads near where I live are 45 mph to 55 mph, and I don't feel safe on those roads on an EUC, so I transport my 18XL to the bike paths. I still ride my 2001 Hayabusa (motorcycle), which feels much safer on public roads, and a motorcycle going over a small bump or dip doesn't involve the risk of a faceplant.
