Love the plot twist at the end. I am also a motorcycle-only guy. I live in Baton Rouge and I ride my DR200 around.

That’s what’s up. I’m excited to see a new rider on the 650. It’s such a good bike. I put over 14k miles on mine in over a year and I’m still impressed and improving my cornering. It’s great for long trips as well. I would get this bike over and over

No your right. I noticed that when I rewatched later. Not cool. I was a bit agitated because I missed that turn. Even tho it was a “re enactment “ that’s still what got me fired up lol. But no still not an excuse. It was cold, tires were cold, excessive speeds, morning so deer. Lots that could have went wrong.

Also started riding a Ninja 650 around the same time as you, bumped into your channel and stuck around since. Really enjoy your content, keep it up. Could you sometime talk about the gear you use for the onboard video/audio (both ambient sound and your voice)? Really good quality!

Nice ride scenery. For cold weather, all those layers really helps. Do you carry a backpack at all times? If so, I can understand it if you're worried something could happen. A backpack is something I don't carry around, and in 21 years of riding since 2003, so far haven't needed anything but the tools in my back seat once or twice. For long cross-state rides though, I can totally understand a backpack full of motorcycle parts/tools. But for a ride around my county, much easier and more fun without lots of gear to carry around. Motorcycling, I would ride every time over my car when possible, but I need my car for rain, snow, ice, major grocery shopping with heavy items, large appliances or home improvement items, passengers, etc. I do keep a cloth bag with a pull string and bungee cords and carry arm's worth of groceries home on my Ninja 650. After 3 years, back in 2006, for hot summers, I stopped wearing my armored gear and wear a lighter Carhartt gortex Jacket that is skid-resistant, and still going that way all these years later through 2024. For winter, my heavy Carhartt jacket with layers underneath. Riding in the rain is high risk because you could be doing everything right, but in the dark, cold downpour, the vehicle driving behind or making a left turn might not stop or see you, and crunch... Same for the snow. Plus the rain soaks the heck out of my gear, increases the chance of rust, fogged visor, hydroplaning tires, soaked shoes, etc. I avoid rain whenever possible but if you enjoy it, that's cool. For the cost of the pads, Front brakes are really easy to replace yourself in my opinion, compared to my old bikes. You don't have to take the whole tire off and can just unscrew a few bolts per brake assembly on this newer 2020 to 2024 Ninja 650 to my relief. Sparkplugs, Unless there is an issue, I never replaced on any of my bikes in 77,000+ miles worth of riding. Changing my tires on the Ninja 650, much easier than my old bikes. Oil and filter change was easy too. Just a matter of the right tools and understanding what to do thanks to helpful youtube.

I do wanna tackle the breaks on my own. Honestly it don’t look bad at all. The plugs I can understand but to get to the air filter I need to take the tank off too. What have you done with the air filter? Same as the plugs or is it different on your bike. I do carry the backpack everywhere. I mostly have it because I never leave home without my portable jump pack that serves as an air pump as well. I also carry a tire repair kit. I’m so scared of being out there deep somewhere and getting a flat. Especially since it’s such an easy fix if something does happen.

@@CityNinja650 I can understand your goal to be prepared for the worst at all times with your backpack and gear. I can also understand your interest in a Honda Goldwing with those useful luggage racks that would be able to carry a lot of those things. Have you considered some kind of attachment luggage racks on the Ninja 650, maybe if they fit from the Versys 650 containers? Not sure what the specs are or availability for it. Only time I ever got a flat was in my first year on my very first tire. I wanted to see how far I could go on mostly bare tires and going up a hill 20 miles from home, the back wheel popped. I did manage to get to a nearby dealer riding on a flat with my weight forward and going 4 mph, but learned never to let the treads go that low again. Never had a problem since with good tires since back then in 2003. Most flats would be from nails or tacks on the roads I'd think. Fix a flat can would solve it as I found out with my car a couple times.

@@CityNinja650 For the Air Filter, you're right, that requires pulling up the Fuel tank. This video, the process looks not too bad with removing the bolts and lifting the tank to access the air filter underneath if it's not running well or gets poor fuel efficiency in several years from now, or if riding in very dusty conditions. kzread.info/dash/bejne/dqib15agj6Wak7Q.html

I remember. That’s what’s up. It’s good to get that service done. Lots of people think it’s a waste but they go over and make sure everything it tight. 20mph winds will definitely blow you around. Glad you did it tho. I feel situations like that make people better riders. You ride in the rain yet?
