Riden RD6018 Boosted With This 65V AC/DC Power Supply!

Ғылым және технология

On the unboxing table today we have a 65v switching AC to DC power supply kindly supplied for review by Banggood.com.
The RD6018 is a fantastic benchtop unit but it has one slight down side; it can only supply voltage lower than its own supply. This is totally remedied by this AC/DC power supply providing up to 800w of resistor melting power!

Rookie KZread mistake :-). You are supposed to look up the resistor value offline and then point out the colors and just pretend like you knew it off the top of your head. Great review though.

They don't call 'em BANGGood for nothing. There's no reason to believe that the bent tabs on the PSU happened during shipping. The white (in your case) potentiometer to one side of the output terminal strip allows you to adjust the PSU DC output. a switchmode PSU shouldn't be producing a lot of heat. A decent 48V PSU can generally be adjusted up to about 56V or so. Try a Cosel or Meawell PSU sometime. Also, consider this: cut an opening in your workbench and mount the Riden down into it (facing up), and have the PSU under the bench somewhere.

It will rise your current over the switching PS specs. Just keep your power below the specs. In my 1,38 software version there is power limit setting. However voltage is limited about 1volt below your PS specs.

Its a buck converter 12amp at 60 odd volts will power 18amp and lots more at lower voltages

A high quality power supply would have inrush limit so there would not be a spark when plugging it in

I have the rd6006p since today and I hear a faint high pitch sound when I turn on the voltage output. The sound becomes less when I increase the output voltage and from 35 volts the sound is gone. Do others have this too? Or is this a defect?

Chances are if you're using that power supply you're gonna need some light. I would use it to power LEDs for light and that might be enough to quiet it down.

These cheap chinese SMPSu's normally don't meet their specs. If you run it for a long time at max. power you will probably burn something, the switching Mosfets or the output diodes most probably. Often the heatsinks are not sufficient or badly mounted. The RIDEN Buck-converter probably does a good job. I have the DPS5020 for 2 years and use it on a daily basis with my little PV-panels. To power it from solar makes sense and the input voltage range is just great for 2 bigger panels in series.

those big caps were in the input! NOT great esp in 240v countries! caps go BOOM! even at 120v, the p-p volt is too close

Maybe you should look into ohms law. 11 amps at 65 volts allows you to have 18 amps at lower voltage. I don't think I'll ever need 10+ amps at 50+ volts, if you do, then pay more than double the price for a power supply capable of it

or somebody is clever enough and use two of this power supplies and use it parallel and better the RD6024...
