My question is if always it has to be a finger or relay involved to press the switch, how transistors switch themselves on and off thousands times per minute?

That was fun, I don't mind the podcast presentation, it's always good to have something to listen to while doing other things. I did get a few things: the battey tester II've wanted one for a while. The Picos, I have a few of the RPI boards but I like the smaller footprint for smaller projects and they are good for learning when you don't need a lot of pins. And the 10 mm LEDs, again something I've wanted for a while, I have some 8mm, but now I'll have more variety (way too many varieties now). A couple of things sit unchecked in my cart. I agree with the brass (metal) for cleaning soldering tips, I tried sponges when I first started (because all the experienced KZreadrs swore by them) and found them frustrating . Once I got a brass ball, I never looked back.
If I PWM one of the PWM-inputs while keeping the Enable on both high, wouldn't that hard-brake the motor in the low-phase of the PWM (as both lower side FETs are on at that point), which would make for horrible efficiency?

I started there! But the temp control iron has cost me under a penny an hour at this point I'm sure!
For the iron cleaner I'd go with the dome type as this one will tend to toss little bits of solder and slag around. Also, these low cost ones tend to not include copper, it's copper plated steel.
Fair enough - I wish I could get one that is brass for sure without paying 50$, I think that would be my ideal
@@SimpleElectronics I get balls of the brass wool at a local hardware/houseware store being sold as brass pot scrubbers. Canadian Tire used to sell them, along with even softer copper wool, but don't seem to anymore.
So your saying cheap chinese junk is not calibrated ??? Next your going to want me to believe they don't do QC!
Not sure what you are saying here - the Uni-T has a traceable certificate of calibration and it tested incredibly well on my equipment here - it's just the UI leaves a bit to be desired

Great list. You could add those cheap wire cutters with the blue handles, heatshrink tubing selection. I find having a selection of M screws in various sizes with washers, nuts and stand offs very useful. Multimeter leads with small croc clips. Magnifying glass. (I'll stop there.Sorry Dan.)

@@SimpleElectronics Cheap set of jewelers screwdrivers, set of assorted wire with small crock clips on each end, a variety pack of cable ties, cheap calipers.
10) No good to me. I only use USB 1.1 and USB 2 memory sticks. Nothing high speed at all.
9) I have SO many LED's. LOL. (No 10mm though)
8) I don't have any USB chargers or power banks. I only have 2 things that charge off USB. But I use the laptop to charge them.
7) I still use a version of this I got in the 1980's. LOL
6) I've gone off programing the C++ Arduino software. So I've stopped using any of these types of controllers. I've gone back to using logic IC's.
5) I love the brass ball iron tip cleaner.
4) I've looked at these, but I don't think I could get a mtherboard from an 8 bit machine in one. LOL.
3) I just use a small flat blade screwdriver. Gently pry the chip upwards slowly alternating each side.
2) I've got the WOWSTICK 1F+. It's perfect for what I do.
I've got a Soldering Iron Temperature Tester, I use it about once every 6 months and my iron never deviates from it's setting on the temp display.

I noticed you edited a bit right there around your video to camera switch towards the end of the video, is there something I need to know there? All I can do is get mine to take videos

I am sitting here using those boards to make custom solar lights for the decks around our house and the first video that comes up in my list is your's and i didnt search or google the circuit or anything. haha. you are right about soldering. i learned from wiring guitars but i bought cheap chinese smd kits to learn how to repair electronics and cad up boards i etch at home. what's your preferred software for designing boards? i'm testing out one of my new laser diodes and tbh havent used a proper piece of software in well over a year and the ui for kicad and easyeda look different now. i no longer have custom libraries saved for common parts. i've used either flexible smd/tht protoboard (i forget the brand but they sell it everywhere) or fr4 and a dremel the last while haha.

20:00 mark, the middle battery is off by 1/100 of a volt only and you talk about the cell "not well matched". That's very small and acceptable.

Great video. Looking at buying such a device for reflow. After seeing some others that used this but did no teardown I was unconvinced to buy it, but your teardown that shows the good and the warts and suggested fixes for the warts gives me a lot more confidence. Yes, it's certainly "built to a price" as you said, but that's not a bad thing -- IF we can make it safe. Thanks!

This scope will do more than you'll need for the first bunch of years of learning electronics - the only thing I don't like is the interface - it's kinda slow compared to a modern one (the interface only, the measurements are still up to snuff)

i tried this kept having problems with library, spent a good hour trying to troubleshoot code to look for any mistakes, searched it turns out arduino uno does support this library, sadly it doesn't have that chip, welp that was sadly painful guess ill need to buy an arduino with that chip, lmao i thought all arduino was the same just different sizes. guess its back to aliexpress for that chip arduino hahahaha.
What happens if you disconnect one of the output wires while the motor is running? If the chip burns, you would need external schottky diodes to VCC and GND on every output pin. Synchronous rectification won't be good enough in that scenario.

What happens if input 1 and input 2 is high at the same time?
It stops - same as both LOW - I think it's explained on the web article
@@SimpleElectronics Thanks for the demo. Unfamiliar with this one, but would like to see it go up to 12V. Some bridge drivers have more states, like Break (open circuit) and Coast (short circuit), giving function to (0,0), and (1,1).
