in the first few photos they show, you see that penny is sat next to ricky on the coaster. I think that's why he's so gentle with her throughout. He's not scared, he's seen her face. He knows who she is and she's seen her, I can imagine him saying yes to her having 'the greenest eyes' because she did, and he noticed because he noticed everything.

Also the idea is that it's the performance of the choir That's also one of the reasons Jane isn't there: she had just joined, so she wasn't added to the choreography

Anyone else notice the line "even in competition against yourself you can still walk away a loser" is supposed to foreshadow that only one member of the choir can come back in the end (and because of the choir having to all compete against itself)

we as a society need to spend more time talking about how Jane flashes the audience at the end of Mischa's song 😭😭

When you smile youre able to open your mouth wider and so your vocal chord can extend a bit (idk if that’s the right term but yeah you can sing higher notes for longer) that’s why when we belt one tends to use an Ah or Er/Eh vowel because it’s easier to hit high notes with the mouth shape for those vowels

My headcanon or theory is that Jane Doe/ Penny Lamb was a member of the choir, but from a different (older) time period. I say this because not only is she holding a creepy Victorian doll (which are known for being antique) but also her uniform is different than the others. She has longer sleeves with puffs at the top and they have embroidered details on them as well. And sense she does not remember anything about herself (or really anything) she doesnt realize that she is technically older than the rest. And the reason she was unclaimed is because they only recently found her body after this accident and her parents would have passed by now. Therefore no one in the choir would know her. But thats probably just me :)

Partially I think that most of the decomposing of her body would be kind of hidden by her clothing (doesn't make the most sense ik) and because her actual head is replaced by the doll's (which is sort of implied) it wouldn't be super evident to the others or the audience, but it could also explain her stifled and awkward movement a little better :) I really appreciate the question!!

I'm a guy with medium to high range (trans lol) and me and my soprano friend sang it today, with them going in the original octave and me dropping it down as well as adding harmonies. I suck at singing and it was spontaneous, but we actually sounded good. Proudest moment of my life lmao

My favorite things is how Ricky just stands there, his confusion from Jane's voice and his reaction to being able to speak. The baby. ❤

I know Jane Doe is more of a symbol but realistically speaking: there must be an identifiable student missing in school, right? She has the uniform so she was from St. Cassium, they must have records if a girl just STOPS showing up!

A while ago, I used Constance's monologue for my acting class final; It was my favorite assignment. The only part I got marked down for was not being loud enough at the start, but I was able to really get into the character by the end. My teacher had said that I connected well with Constance, and I will be forever grateful for that experience. I love this musical so much, the fan base around it is so supportive too! Y'all are awesome >B)

I'm gonna ramble about my rtc theory for a hot minute. My theory is that the Karnak never had the power to bring someone back to life and that Jane never died in the first place. "There were six children in the cyclone disaster!" I simply don't think that's true. I think that number was a lie made by the Karnak. The real reason for his making of this competition was to allow them the chance to come to terms with their death and find the joy in their lives. One piece of evidence is the happy birthday song where they gave Jane a cupcake. Karnak said the winner would get a hello kitty cupcake, so I think that was foreshadowing that Jane was always the winner. My biggest piece of evidence is the very end. Jane is brought back to life, goes through the light, and is never seen on stage again. The five other students position themselves as If their on a roller coaster about to crash, like they were being transported back to moment BEFORE they died. Jane wasn't on the roller coaster. Karnak said he could bring someone BACK to life, which would mean Jane would've had to have been on the cyclone, but she wasn't. The Karnak wouldn't have been able to make that happen, especially when he said he never read her fortune, so she simply never got on the roller coaster and never died in the first place. All of it was just his was of helping the kids move into the afterlife without regrets.

I’ve seen on another video someone’s theory that Jane was on the ground right by the Cyclone when it derailed and got decapitated when it fell. In her ballad she says “and from the ground beneath my feet I hear the anguish of the street” as if she’s standing on the ground watching it happen, and was killed when the ride and the rest of the choir fell. They also say that’s why her screams/high notes are so long, because she was the last to die.

do you ever wonder if jane/penny ever kept the name Savanna(the name ricky gave her) as a nickname when she came back? Or would she not remember?

I ENVY you so much rn, my voice alas does not go anywhere NEAR that high. Like I luv my slightly lower voice, but god is it disappointing sometimes

I like to think that nobody is being controlled during Sugarcloud because the music is more spontaneous (Ricky actually has to hand her a mic, the dancing is less elaborate, what would usually be the dance break is just everyone hyping up Constance's limited recorder skills, etc.) so like, this is everyone post-character development willingly letting Constance have her deserved spotlight
