    I am loving these new simple from the heart videos where Matti and Alexei are showing us the true reason of having a camera - to have fun while making images. They aren't worried about getting great pictures or technical details like dynamic range - just the fun of process of making an image.

    An enjoyable watch. Thanks guys! Here's my question though - if you use snap-focus one-handed, how do you avoid introducing camera shake? When I try to push the shutter button all the way through in one movement, I always feel the camera move - it never seems to feel like a smooth operation....

  • @mattisulanto

    @mattisulanto

    Thanks. I guess you have to practice and use fast enough shutter speed. The GRIII has a stabilizer and that obviously helps a lot.

    You can configure this camera to take snapshot when you touch lcd screen. Try it. Less shaking. This feature did come with firmware update after the camera was released.

    I also love 28mm and have a Leica Q2 and a Sigma Contemporary 24mm f3.5-f22, which has very nearly the same angle of view, fitted to a Sony A7 Mk3. Neither camera being pocketable of course, but my iPhone is always with me and in good light does well enough. The phone is just not pleasurable to use but I never forget that it is the image that matters most. The great advantage of the Leica is the resolution which allows cropping to 50mm either in camera or post, while still retaining great resolution. The Sony also has that facility in camera but it starts at 24MP while the Leica starts at 47MP. Apart from not being pocketable, the price of these compared with the already quite expensive Ricoh is probably an issue for some.

    @@hedydd2 yes. I feel that is the main reason for not having leica... I think it would be difficult to feel so free as shooting with ricoh. One reason is one handed handling and the lightness and pocketable size of camera. Other reason is the price... I got my ricoh gr III used for 600€. I would be sad if it got stolen (like my gr I was) but it can't be compared to 3500€ worth of (used) leica camera. And one plus for the end. I think leica can make you better photographer because you immediately feel "premium" photographer for having it and all the history behind it... It makes you more confident and that results in better photos.
