Ricky Jay-Learned Pigs and Fireproof Women
Ойын-сауық
Based on Ricky Jay's book of the same title, this special was made up of a combination of magic, juggling, amazing feats, stunts, and performances, including a musical performance on wine glasses, a human calculator who could determine cube-routes of numbers in her head, and an antique acrobatic clockwork doll. @15- Sweet! Original 80's commercials instead of stupid Google ads. Automatic thumbs up...
I got to appear onstage twice with Ricky Jay. Highlight of my life.
Ricky is a kick .. he is so much fun, so challenging .. so very finely tuned !! .. I hope you are reading this right now ..
This is incredible. Including the commercials.
Outstanding! This is must watch "TV", perfect for quarantine viewing. R.I.P. Ricky Jay!
Does anyone else think these old school commercials worked better than the ones now adays? I totally want grape nuts and kfc right now.
It's funny to see a young Chris "Jesus" Ferguson on here!!

Got some nice vintage commercials here, before TV got overrun by the pharmaceutical industry. Thanks for keeping them in.

lol! 1988. one of those commercials is for a movie called Spaced Invaders that i was a foley assistant on. actually have a credit in it!
Just wanted to say thank you for sharing this rare piece of film! It is so difficult to find many of Ricky Jay's televised specials and performances, although his new documentary in select theaters does contain some others.
Love the old commercials 😂
thank you for sharing this, for a long time i thought i had imagined it. lol
Ricky Jay is a freakin' genius, a legend of magic, a great actor, and one of the coolest people alive. i love this guy. fucking brilliant.

Fairly unceremonious announcement. Yes, RJ passed. Or disappeared into the ether in a monumental Poof. Great vid and thanks for the tribute and memories OP.
Beautiful and delightful. Mysterious, most definitely magical.
Now I can defend myself against grape-nuts with cards.
That butterfly production at the end is amazing man. What a legend Ricky Jay is.
That Micheal Moschen guy must be the one doing the glass ball stuff in the '80s movie "Labyrinth".
The quick change artist is amazing
The crystal ball man is talented but I wouldn't pay to see it
THANK YOU
Wow, this is a nice video, these people are very talented. Maybe magic is real after all.
merci !!!!!!
imagine being on Orange Sunshine LSD during one of these shows...
cant wait to see rick jays new documentary-DECEPTIVE PRACTICES: THE MYSTERIES AND MENTORS OF RICK JAY.out now in select theatres april 17th.
It was harry houdini who made it, it was his most popular trick

In stereo!
R.I.P Shakuntala Devi.
You are right, I am wrong, my bad...
He is.
I think the juggler learned the juggling to wear the leotard. I don't think that's necessary.
3:28 What is this.........? Like, whats the name of this maneuver?
Gah! That woman's hair at the beginning -- it looks like a cat got electrocuted on her head!
yes people back in the day ACTUALLY CARED! :)
circa 1989
I had his book by the same title and it was destroyed in a flood! Have to get it again! Besides, altho Rick is cool, Ripley from Ripley's Believe It or Not did the same thing. But he was no magician. Fortean Times is a journal that records a lot of stuff like this.
Who in South Dakota recorded this?
Someone explain to me the puppet thing on the trapeze. Was it magic? because that was my first guess... was I right?

+HhappyBirthday That's the year it came out on home video. The movie was released in theaters in 1990. And it's a real stinker (as if you couldn't already tell that from the commercial).

the advert was for 'Spaced Invaders', not 'Space Invaders'; note the d at the end of Spaced. :)
That strong woman shit is a bunch of BS suggestion.

Nothing to do with suggestion, it's just physics. For example, the lifting trick is accomplished just by standing slightly further away the second time, which moves the centre of gravity and makes it physically impossible for him to lift her off the ground no matter how strong he is. It's a very common carny trick, you also see it when grifters sell those moronic copper bracelets that are supposed to balance your Xi or whatever nonsense they're peddling that day.
