You have this wrong. Its Ricky Gervais...and he is not just saying he don't care about what people think, he is saying he doesn't care period. You are a person and you like Hollywood is paying him and making him rich. Do you seriously think that Ricky Gervais the COMEDIAN is telling the truth? Look at what he said about Steve Carell and Tim Allen. Ricky is a arrogant uncaring hypocrite and you are one of the f*ck's who is caring about someone who is lying claiming not to care about you and the people who are making him millions. You are like the Christians who made Kenneth Copeland rich and vote for Donald Trump, having no clue that you are supporting the very opposite of what it is you think you are supporting. You are being scammed by Gervais and Hollywood mate, like a football fan who gives money to a league which cares nothing about the fans and nothing about football.

FYI this saying has been dated back to at least the 1930s For additional context, Wagner is credited as being the pioneer for conductors who face away from the crowd. Before Wagner, most conductors did, in fact, face the crowd, at least at an angle. Wagner died in the 1880s, and the saying seems to imply that it is necessary for conductors to face away from the crowd, suggesting that the quote probably originated sometime after Wagner's influence was solidified and somewhat forgotten. So the saying probably doesn't originate much earlier than the 1930s.

He is a legend to me. He's a comedy genius and a real genuine guy. Hollywood is full of disingenuous narcissists so it doesn't surprise me that they hate him. Narcissists hate people who are genuinely happy, don't take themselves too seriously, re able to be authentically themselves and secure in who they are and don't really care what everyone thinks. Narcissists lack all these things. Anyone who mirrors back to a narcissists a bad image of themselves or who make them feel inadequate are devalued(they look for your flaws or make them up) and are hated. It's part of their defense mechanism.

But for me it felt like it was trying too hard to be edgy and got all the way back around to feeling safe and predictable. Harley Quinn actually manages to be edgy yet you can tell they are trying to tell a story first and the edgy comedy comes from how absurd the stories can get.

There's a character he put in just so he could rant about things (people talking about dreams, religion, whether ghosts exist) and he always writers her as an idiot to make him seem like the one that always has the "correct" opinion. Yeah, dreams can never be funny to talk about - makes ricky gervais seem like a dull grumpy ass if he's never had a funny dream or heard a funny dream. As for religion, I would agree it's all nonsense but he doesn't need to bring it up all the damn time in his shows, it's a boring overdone topic - religion is dumb we get it. As for whether ghosts exist, he's being willfully ignorant and acting like he knows all that can exist in the world. Ghosts are not some dead person stuck in a place (they would go nuts and there is no evidence to support that) it is a very real phenomena that people don't understand, people don't know what they are. I'd rather not believe in this phenomena as it is very problematic indeed if a house becomes haunted, and there is a large variety in the type of "ghosts" one can have with different levels of severity. But of course she didn't say any of that, she just shuts up when he says his weak uninformed opinion.

What Ricky did at the golden globe was superb: he simply treated them like normal people, bring them back from thei VIPnstatus to normal human status. We all make mistake, we all say and do not nice things, and they are no different. Why should them be treated like if they are different, better than anyone else? Him mocking them like we all do between us, laughin at our weaknesses and mistakes, was a perfect way to level things up, to remind them and us that we are all part of the same species and we are all the same, no matter how much money and fame you might have. And, most importantly, we all have the same responsabilities towards society and our planet.

You're right. There is a feeling of self importance in Hollywood. It leads people to think that they are justified to punch someone in the face at an Oscar ceremony for a mild joke and the rest of the audience to give him standing ovations for it, when most of those actors have made their careers on dressing up in spandex and playing a cgi filled super hero that requires little skills.

Yeah he is smart alright. He has pretended not to care about his audience and Hollywood who is paying him, getting people to think he is not one of Hollywood while mocking others for achieving the same or better than he has and getting people to think that is him being humble. Genius! He is as good at pretending as Harvey Weinstein, Jeff Epstein and Donald Trump...master of disguise🤣🤣🤣

@@zombl337og it just reminds me of the most intelligent people in the past. Scientists, inventors, etc. A lot were declared mad and ended up for the rest of their lives in insane asylums. Years later, we realised they were exceptional. Now a day's that would be hard to find. Welcome to the planet of devolution.

Because there are more morons in the world than there are intelligent people. Intelligent people don't feel the primal need to band together, they're immune to mob mentality. And if you don't conform to the majority, you'll be targeted and weeded out. Tale as old as time. @@waternineeightlotus2869

Ricky’s performance as David Brent is one of the best comedy acting performances out there, and it’s especially impressive that he had no previous experience or training in acting.

The best way I could describe Ricky is that he's the closest thing modern comedy has to a Court Jester. Part of their role involved bringing news to the king that no one else could/would because they'd likely lose their head if the tried.

Ricky is a legend, I first watched his show when I was about 19 (foreigner story coming up), at first he didn't impress me but there was something about him that made me curious so I grabbed my Polish-English dictionary and started researching... Yup, we didn't have Google back then you had to speak to other people in order to find out anything. And I loved it, bless this man and his comedy because he can lift you up in a matter of seconds with one sentence.

Ricky Gervais is adored and admired by all comedians. That’s all he cares about. He doesn’t care about what you think or the press or movie stars. He’s happy content and doing what he loves. It doesn’t get much better than that.
