Yea. I agree. Americans seem to have a problem with a person who isn't famous enough or a person who isn't american by nationality _(There is a reason why for example Robbie Williams was liked and noticed everywhere bar America - Even today if you ask random americans, a good few of them would say "Who is Robbie Williams, did you mean Robin Williams". No if I meant to say Robin Williams I would have f**king said Robin Williams)_-.. Even before The Golden Globes Ricky was a nobody the first year in the US when the US Office came out and he appeared in an episode and americans categorised him as _"oh yea guy who cameoed in The Office"_ instead of the guy who created the Office, Extra's and on XFM etc.. Around the time The invention of Lying came out, still he either wasn't noticed or wasn't liked or wasn't liked because he wasn't noticed _(Americans have an obsession with fame)_ . When the Invention of Lying came out, yes, he had a bit of notoriety but not as much as today. Also on top of all of this, Americans seem to have a problem if you are an atheist and not a God fearing Christian.

One of the 10 best stand up comedians of all time, in my opinion. Tells it straight, no messing about and makes me laugh from start to finish. Bit hit and miss with his movies (more miss to be honest) but the TV shows we're absolute gems.

What Ricky's most dedicated fans really need is a reunion of the Gervais/Merchant/Pilkington podcast, arguably Ricky's finest work. Understandably, Ricky is reticent about regrouping, because Karl has really become a performance artist in his own right, which makes him less targetable as "the best idiot in the world". However, I don't think this would necessarily upset the satirical balance of the trio.

fully agree. all three of their best work IMO was the three of them in a room together with microphones in front of them. Independently, I don't find their solo work as enjoyable or as interesting. Some of their solo work is very mediocre actually. and in this case this quote couldn't be more fitting in describing how effective they are in a group. the whole is greater than the sum of their parts. but sadly a reunion, I just don't see happening, if ever. they seem to have gone their separate ways and a lot of people assume a possible falling out has taken place. none of us know for sure but all of them have been dead quiet about each other and never mention each other or plug each others' work. Steve though in a VERY recent oxford university q and a mentioned ricky and had nothing but nice things to say about him. but either way, i have the xfm and podcasts on a constant loop all the time so we will always have those :)

The last few years it's become more apparent than ever that the people who host these types of shows, as well as allegedly hard news programs, lose all of their basic human communication skills. A prompter, a clipboard and a producer in the ear. I call them newsbots, never more obviously robotic than when one of them asks a question and then the other one asks pretty much the same question like nobody has asked it yet. "So, you have a special on Netflix called Humanity..." Blah blah blah. "So, you have a special on Netflix called Humanity..."

I can't stand interviewers like this that can't stand to take a backseat and step out of the limelight for more than a few seconds. It's a really big shame how washed up he seems these days. I think he needs that push from Steve again because even during the making of The Office Ricky was willing to quit making it if he didn't get his way and Steve had to be the one to keep him focused. I think when Ricky is left on his own for too long his work is less innovative and now he's at a point where just to keep in the industry or have something to do he has to do pointless game shows that no one talks about. The show Child Support is so soulless and so done up in glam it's just gross to watch and does reflect on everything Ricky originally stood against in entertainment. Now he's gotten really comfortable and letting his previous work speak for him when to be honest no one really cares about his fame anymore we just want to see new work. He's currently working on a new show with some actors from Derek and Extras but haven't seen anything come from it and I'm worried it's going to be too similar to Derek in tone. I really don't know why Steve and Ricky just stopped working together, such a fall from grace.
