Комедия

Episode 7 - Ricky chats with Ben Bailey Smith and Ed Byrne
The seventh episode of Ricky's new series of radio shows on Sirius XM

    Ricky really needs to talk less. Ed Byrne might not have heard about Ricky never having struggled in stand-up before, but this is about the seventh fucking show I'm hearing him talk about it.

    Remember when Rick used to 'joke' that without Karl and monkey news etc he would have trouble filling the show cos he has nothing to say? Well..... Its awkward listening to what Ricky THOUGHT this show was gonna be in the pilot, such a faux philosopher he ran out of material in episode 2!

    Nick Mccartan at one point he even reminded ed where he was in his story after imterupting with a point about himself and when ed tried to continue he done it again...... Hes not a great host, this is either a chat with his friends where he shows off to make them laugh or to laugh himself or its a show with guests and questions etc where people might tune in to hear brian Cox try and get a word in or to hear richard dawkins sigh in despair as ricky tries to prove hes on his level..... like he always does. If its the first then hes already done that and this doesn't compare, If its the second then seriously he has to learn how to host, and stop thinking its mainly about him. I like the man but this is pretty bad, Least he made it availble for free, youd be mad if you paid for it

    I've always loved the fact that you can have a good laugh with your mates at the pub or at work and sometimes it can be just as funny as listening to a professional comedian. Work is probably the best place to practice comedy because of the fact that you get to know your 'audience' and bounce off them with banter and one liners. It also makes quite a boring situation bearable! I'm finding it interesting listening to the stories of how these guys crafted their humor from being funny guys with their mates to doung 3 minute TV spots for £8000. As I'm listening on youtube, I don't hear the songs but I pause it and play it to get the full experience. I commented earlier that you should play some Ry Cooder. If anyone of any influence is reading this, I recommend 'Married Man's a fool' from the Paradise and Lunch album. I'll pause the podcast and put my LP on in the shed if it gets in #08. 😎 There's a lot of negative comments from people who just want to hear what they want to hear. C'mon people. If you actually listen to it and appreciate it for what it is, you might get something out of it. If anyone wants a laugh, look up Robin Williams interviews when he was on talk shows. He had great chemistry with Craig Ferguson and David Letterman. He could quite easily take over an interview but good interviewers knew how to channel his immense energy. I prefer watching these interviews to his stand up because of the extra energy he gained from being in that situation. If you don't like my suggestion, just stick to tagging your mates in chicken nugget memes on facebook.

  • @janderson2709

    @janderson2709

    Actually, many of the jokes that appeared on the later XFM shows had appeared in earlier XFM shows said by a different one of the trio. So sometimes Steve would deliver a joke of Ricky's and visa versa. I think this came from them pre-deciding what funny topics they could talk about and looking at what had been funny earlier. It's plausible that Rick said it first. I've seen Steve use a couple of Ricky's golden globe stories before, namely the one where he describes getting Cheetos in his teeth and also the clint Eastwood story among others. I've never seen people moan on those videos, so I'd give Rick a break if he repeats something that someone he used to spend all day every day with once said 12 years ago.....

    I went to a stand-up night where one of the comedians cracked his head on a light on the way onto stage. Blood pissing down his face he had to bail. The first comedian was forced to come back on and he admitted he'd forgotten what be had or hadn't done so we had to warn him if he was repeating himself. As one, without a word the whole audience said nothing on the first repeated bit and we ALL shouted the punch line as he was about to say it. He realised he'd done a 4 min bit with EVERYONE pretending they hadn't heard it. Brilliant. Happened another 2 or 3 times each time we found it funnier and he eventually gave up stepped down off the stage into the audience and we ALL went through to the bar and got faced. Great night

    I'm Ricky Gervais, I'm Hip I'm cool. I've got a black friend. Who cares????? I thought Ricky Gervais would be smart enough to see the shit he is talking about regarding comedy and acting is a conversation which should be in a film studio or an award ceremony. Boring as fuck. Don't bother uploading wank

    Today on Ben Bailey is Deadly Sirius, Ricky Gervais! Why not just have Ben as a co-presented, for Christ's sake. Also, we get it Ricky, you are an atheist and a comedian, why not get someone on who has a different field of expertise and produce some fresh material? I think I speak for a lot of us when I say I'm sick of hearing you talk with such pride and certainty about science, religion, acting, comedy etc. You are starting to lose fans, I genuinely hope you hear about these comment sections because I think I'm done listening to your content.

    Ed Byrne. Nick name Dick during his teenage years. Yes I have a ton of them jokes/puns/what ever they're called. I blame the English school system, Carry On Films and 70's, 80's comedy shows.

    Jedi E.T most people, I dunno about that, have you seen how many downloads he gets a fuckin month, I always watch his interviews on KZread but my god, there's no way I would watch his standup. My point is, I guarantee a high percentage of people who listen to a Gervais podcast would know who Joe Rogan is.

    Such a pity Sirius XM is supporting the likes of Steve Bannon (Seth Rogen refused to appear there) and such a pity the great Ricky Gervais would rather block people who speak out against it than give a reason why he is not leaving the show in protest. Could it be money? Entire career making fun of people and now he's playing the liberal and helping Bannon. When will we find out he doesn't like animals? "Oh I can't have a dog cause I'm always away" yeah right...

    The long and winding road sums this up. Don't think I'm gonna make it through this - no reflection on ed. The Baddiel one was very amusing but very tiresome now. Seems is just talking about comedy to promote tour, we hear it. Get baddiel back, and Karl, and smerch. Or do one with actors or something.

    Ricky needs to take some advice from other podcast interviewers. Look at Joe Rogan, he is brilliant at keeping quiet and letting the guest tell their stories and theories, he knows when to chime in to ask a question and contribute with his own stories. Ricky has to always make everything about himself on this, the guy has got a big ego and a lot of the time its just kinda obnoxious and not even funny.

    I like Ricky but he's terrible at this, every single story his guest tells comes back to him telling his story, he's an I-MAN, every response to a guests story is "when I did...." or "I did that".....you have these witty people on Ricky to tell you their stories, you can be interested without it relating to a story of your own.
